I've got a 2014 VStar 250. I bought it in 2017 with less than 20 miles on it. It's been dependable and fun to ride. I've owned larger, faster bikes but as I've gotten older I just don't need a big bike. I've ridden this bike all over the Southeast U.S. and it's done everything I asked of it. I'm convinced it's the man that makes the bike, not the other way around. I love this bike. Thomas Quick aka old skool and I'm just saying. p.s. 65 m.p.h. is perfect for this bike. I can load it down for camping and take off. It's light if you want to pull up a fire trail for the night. Try that on most cruisers and you really have to work at it. I paid $2,500 cash and that's the best money I ever spent. If you have self image issues you might should go with a Harley but if you just want to ride economically and dependably, try the Yamaha V Star 250. It won't let you down.

      I have an 07 virago 250 (basically a vstar)
I've also had bigger, faster bikes.
Yeah, I miss the fz750, but I love the virago.
When my neighbor asked me if I wanted to buy it, I was hesitant.
Turned it down a couple times.
He coulda easily sold it to anyone, but he made me a deal I couldn't turn down.
I'm so glad I bought it!
I've had hours & hours/ miles & miles of riding good times.
I don't take it on the interstate. It'll go, but im afraid the wind would beat me up on it.
Perfect for back highways, around town , & country roads!
      Thanks Jim!
      RIP brother!

I totally agree with you guys. My '09 Virago was a beautiful, small cruiser to start out on, then I tried bigger bikes and liked the extra power, but honestly, I missed the lighter weight and nimble feel of the Virago. I'm keeping it. I even love the sound of it.

Hey Sean ( sorry if I misspelled your name) Love the channel man. I'm a new rider and I've been checking your channel for tips, information and knowledge on the regular. Live in Toronto, Canada. So for my first bike I've decided to go with a 2003 Yamaha virago 250. The asking price is $2000 but I talked the guy down to $1500. 25000km on it. He's also willing to deliver it to my door. He bought it of an older fella at the beginning of May 2018. Never been dropped. It looks clean . Regular maintenance he says. The dude seems honest enough but you never know. For $1500 how much should I be nitpicking? What should I look for? Any advice would be appreciated man.

Commuting to the campus or work, visiting friends out there in the suburbans, and checking out that girl in the countryside is a easy task. Some actually don't need 1800cc to park it on a traffic light in the inner city, and/or heavy lifting big 4-6 cylinders bikes in apartment access-ways and parking underneath staircases. Just saying.

Will only do 65mph absolutely wide open (with no headwind and on a level surface). You will be in the upper 50s with an incline or headwind. I rode mine for 2 seasons, over 5K miles, many 200+ mile trips on the highway. Can be very dangerous when traffic is moving at 65 and your only way out of a situation is to hit your brakes. Loved the bike for cruising around my rural area. Great on back roads where the speed limit is 45-50. For reference, I am 5'10", 170 lbs.

Which one is better - what are the pros and cons of these two and is the gear shift too far up in the front for the v-star when compared to the Rebel. Which one is more comfortable from a riding position? And can it be taken on the interstate with 2 riders (around 300 lbs total?

Rebel is good if you're worried about learning. You can pick them up for $1,500 - $2,000 used. Learn to ride, throw it around a bit, get passed by everyone on the road. When you've outgrown it you can sell it on for you paid for it.
The V Star has more power and it's something you might not want to get rid of if you're not into high powered bikes.
I'd personally get a used V Star, see how it goes. If you grow out of it, sell it on and get something else. You won't lose any money on it either.
Rebel is lower so if you're shorter than 5'8" it's a better bet.

The V-Star Feels faster than it is. But for around the city, its fine. It'll hold 65 MPH all day, and top end around 85. The Rebel 300 is faster but the Yamaha is better looking IMHO.

      @twotone3471 Před rokem

@@pouglwaw5932 I own the Yamaha myself, and like it, though it is not without faults, like emergency braking being dangerous compared to the Honda with a much better tire on the front, ditto for handling in corners, especially if there can be loose gravel.
It also has a lot about it that is good, appearance, reliability, value and simplicity. Being a carburated bike, it is pretty sweet natured and a good riding companion.
That said, the handling issues make it a poor choice for a first bike, IMHO. But for an experienced rider looking for a runabout that looks good, and is fast enough to take on a 4 lane road, it's very nice.

I tried one and I'm very thin and ,6ft.2 worked good for me, it appears like a 650 and has that much room.If you are thick in yo Ass you loose legroom and it wouldn't do.Thats why short little women can ride a big bike and reach the controls but have to tip toe at a stop.
