Thank you Conan for keeping Norm's memory alive.
There's one way to keep Norm's memory alive, but it's a little unconventional.
@@kewltony I don't want to choke norm.
Thanks Conan for reminding me of that tragedy.
Imagine if Conan could keep Norm's body alive. Then you would _really_ have to thank him.
he was just here
Notice how Conan did Not interrupt once!!! So bloody rare, thank you ,seriously. Professional interviewing and funny stories well told. Much appreciated
not interrupting in this video doesn't mean he never does. He interrupts fairly regularly, he's just funny with it.
Conan is the greatest to ever drive a desk.
It could just be muscle memory from his TV gig. When an actor, athlete or politician comes on, you interrupt to make things funnier. When a comedian comes on with a story or prepared bit, you let them talk.
Well yeah, it's partly because he's a good interviewer. It's also partly because he's clearly very interested in listening to Jeff's stories. But, honestly, it's mostly because it's a podcast. Conan isn't obligated to move the 10 minute interview along towards the commercials. And, unlike your average Jimmy or Stephen, the show also isn't a joke machine that has to get one studio audience laugh every 10 seconds **or else**. And if you go back and watch his old interviews with Jeff the vibe is totally different, maybe even a bit tense. This format clearly is better for this kind of thing.
@@DoctorFurioso interesting point though some hosts actively use interrupting as an aspect of their "interviewing style " eg h stern. It's awful and mostly unlistenable.
No ammount of Norm stories will ever suffice.
There was never anyone before and never will be anyone again like Norm Macdonald
Except for dudes
That's not my name.....Turd Ferguson. 🤣
Thank God,one Norm was more than we needed.
so edgy...
It’s endearing seeing Conan perk up while Jeff is telling these stories about Norm. He really loves him. Long live Norm. Long live Conan.
too late for norm
@@Dubs22005 reminds me of norm's funeral...I walked through blood and bones in the streets of NY..turns out it was in Northern Canada.
Conan and Norm weren't real friends though, as in they didn't meet or talk on the phone outside of his show.
@@vaahtobileet I believe it, but they still had great respect for each other as colleagues in the same industry, I'm sure. Sure, it's not at the same level as friendship, but still, a sort of stoic yet respectful camaraderie.
My favorite Norm story was the one about ole Andy Richter, the Swedish-German
That Swedish-German, I’ll bet he doesn’t own a doghouse.
Andy was still whining about that joke when he was on Conan's podcast, remembering Norm.
Norm was the funniest person I’ve ever seen. I miss him so much, RIP you beautiful Canadian legend.
Norm is a big influence on my mind, how i think and phrase my own jokes and thoughts
He was a god, truly. Incredible the succession of comedians and actors who hail from Canada. It seems their borderline viewpoint of American culture is the grist .
You must be new to comedy thinking everything said on stage is funny.I feel bad for you.
You're lucky you got to watch him live.
I'm from the UK and was lucky enough to watch Sean Lock live before he died; and just like Norm he didn't tell many people about his illness.
Facts
can't wait to see this on "I'm not norm"...
In every video from now on
It's being edited as we speak
Its already in multiple compilations.
why is I'm not norm bad again?
I'm not norm isn't "bad" really. It's just a lot of the same clips over and over, interrupted by an advert for bad merch.
Norm was in it to amuse himself. When he bombed, even that amused him. I don't think he ever had a drop of flop sweat.
The fact that he walked around and talked to every single person after he bombed is the most Norm Macdonald thing I've heard. It's really too bad that he didn't enjoy the same level of success as his friends and peers, but I think that's what made him so beloved and respected by his fellow comics. For better or worse, Norm stuck to his guns 100% and never pandered. I'm trying to find the exact quote, but Conan said of him shortly after he passed that he was almost "frighteningly fearless."
It's even funnier. He stood at the door making sure he will interact with every single one of them. The man was a legend. Andy Richter said to Conan once that this guy does not care in a way that frightens me.
@@georgesotiriou7051 You think it's funny that you paid money to see a horrible show and the performer rubs it in shaking your hand?I doubt it,don't Lie.
@@johnrwalker53 Agree to disagree.
@@johnrwalker53 Jeff Ross said this was before Norm was famous, so you almost certainly weren't paying money to see him.
yeah that's one of my favorite things ever hah
"I don't know if any of you are history buffs..." one of the funniest lines ever. And it you think about it, it makes you realize that there is such a thing as really working on a joke and honing it to perfection. It's rarely obvious that comedians spend time doing that, but I think most of them do.
Norm like Robin Williams had that subtle sadness in his eyes, even when he was smirking. BTW Norm on his show would sometimes make me laugh just by the way he looked at people. I don't know why :D. It always seems like he was plotting something or was being amused by another genius idea he'd just had. What a cool guy
Honestly could hear Jeff talk about Norm for hours. They both have a deep love for his comedy, and it's very special!
lol that’s pathetic. maybe you should go outside more.
@@deveroth8871 you’re on CZcams bum
Norm was the best… a common man with a great sense of HUMOR.
That old lump of coal? Yeah, he was the best.
The more I learned about him the less I cared for him.
I cried when Norm left us. I truly felt a kindred spirit leave, he was a mentor to so many of us and didn’t even know it. Such a gentle soul with a razor wit, a unique, gifted and irreplaceable human being. I hope he’s up there making Dangerfield feel awkward right now.
“Hey look at all these dead guys huh Rodney”
Jeff Ross looks like a baby in it's 200th trimester.
🤣😂😂
I can't wait to see him in GI Jane 2
Always love to hear Norm stories even if I already heard Jeff tell them before.
Please just make a segment for anyone who has a Norm story. His fans are always looking for more out there.
this podcast was brought to you by the good people at Mangrate
CONAN... you deserved to be the tonight shows host. You are a great person
Hi this is Conan O’Brien- I regularly comb through CZcams comments on video clips my interns release, thanks for your compliment it means a lot.
@@SheldonBeldonbro wat
Norm saying individual goodbyes to every audience member of a show that bombed is such a boss move. First, it's just funny. Second, by taking that fear of rejection and making it a joke, it also showed that he was not going to be broken. A true comedian's comedian. He was amazing, and he is missed... :)
Please keep Norm stories alive. Almost a year... this hurts.
Norm said suicidal people are the non cowardly people.
Look at the amount of people seeing the anti human systems and built in corruption with wars, child abuse being ignored or supported by supposedly good people or the want from the establishment for people to abuse others with medical conditions and consider it fun and still deciding to stay here without changing it.
I never really "got" Jeff Ross' roasts or comedy. After this interview, I find him incredibly astute and thoughtful.
This is why I love this podcast
I still remember, for the last few of the Conan episodes, I commented rudely: 'where is Norm, Conan!'. Conan's last episode came and went away but no Norm. I really felt unhappy. Later, when Norm departed, everything became clear and I really felt so sad that I was surprised with myself, never thought I really cared that much about any celebrity but it seems, in case of Norm, I did, I just didn't know.
In 8th grade I wanted to BE norm, id memorize OJ jokes to tell at school on monday morning. I didnt know how much it would effect me until he was gone. I thought I wouldnt get that sad until we lose Lorne
Was asking myself the same question, kept telling myself, oooh i bet theyre saving him for last.
I cried 3 times when 'famous ppl died.' Pope John Paul II April 3 2016, Gord Downie from Tragically Hip, and Normy, Norm Macdonald.
I cried for norm. Alex trebek got me too. I felt like my childhood got a peice taken out.

This was easily one of Conan’s best podcasts. Jeff Ross seems like a genuinely good dude.
dude is a creep, a guy who actually looks like he is
My Favorite Norm moment was on Conan "Chairman of the Bored".....lmao
Norm was the comedian I could always watch and listen to for a guaranteed laugh.
His death stunned me and I'm still lost for words.
I guess you're easily humored, laughing at Norm jokes.
@@johnrwalker53 he lost for words, he can't answer you
@@eliasekstrom6660 Ha,hopefully at some point he'll regain his speech.
it really is crazy what Norm means to me. hes honestly shaped not only my sense of humor but also my world view to an extent. It thrills me to no end every time I continue to see Conan keep his memory alive. If Norm means this much to me, a person he never even knew existed, i cant imagine what he means to Conan. Thank you Conan.
Well said mate. You're not alone
Norm still is my favorite comedian EVER
Yep. Even better live too. Glad I got to see him
Hard to believe its already been nearly a year since he passed.
Norm's DEAD?!
@@KingMinosxxvi I didn't even know he was sick!
@@TommyHarkinNorm didn't want to everybody know about it & I totally understand why he wanted to keep his conditions private.
Norm just wanted to laugh & make people laugh to the bitter end. I respect that!
Norm Macdonald will always be one of a kind. R.I.P. to a legendary comic.
You can tell they all have the utmost respect for Norm.
"Because the light was on." Classic.....
Conan you are a treasure for keeping Norm’s memory alive with these podcasts. It’s kind of surreal that he passed almost a year ago. Seems like only yesterday.
Noam was such an under rated gentleman. He wanted to send off into his death with Humor and without anyone worrying about him. Legend!
He spent a decade setting up the punchline of, "I didn't even know he was sick." It was the first thing that came to my mind when the news broke and I couldn't help but laugh. His ended his life with a joke.
Jeff is such a cool dude, love him
This was a great tribute and love hearing stories when people first started out
Norm died?! I didn't even know he was sick!
Reminds me of that tragedy…
Notice Conan’s smile through the story :’)
This reminded me about that national tragedy
Norm is the only comic I really would like to get to know as a person. He radiated wisdom and wit apart from telling jokes.
I’ve watched so many Norm Macdonald videos since his passing. He was just so darn funny.
I play his podcast show on repeat, we miss you norm
‘Absurd’…. I’ll miss his spirit here. 🙏
I could listen to ross telling stories all day. I hang on every word. His appreciation is unrivaled. I appreciate Ross so much. First joke i ever heard by him was poetry called “I miss her sometimes”
“ I ran into my old girlfriend today. Then I backed up and ran into her again…..I miss her sometimes.”
This dude has a genuine love for people. His sincerity comes though without question.
Conan is like a child listening to story being read to him, same here.
i miss norm....
A few short years before his death, Norm came and did two stand up nights at a comedy club close to me. I went each night. And it was fascinating because the first night he killed, people were crying they were laughing so hard, and the second night he didn't quite bomb, but the crowd chemistry and the reactions never materialized, and it was like everything was the same except from some alternate universe. So I can relate to the part of the story where some crowds same gig he killed and some crowds same gig he bombed. Comedy is strange.
The last 10 seconds of this video & the words uttered by Jeff, shows that Norm was a true entertainer.
This is one of the best episodes, Conan. Jeff Ross is such a warm and funny storyteller. Two comedic geniuses for 75 minutes? Um, yes please. Thank you.
Please more more more Norm. Conan, you are awesome.
Ross has a....polarizing image. He's well known as being the "roast guy" but he is a road tested comedian and knows a lot of the funniest guys to ever do a set.
Love you guys. Thanks Jeff, thanks Conan and thanks Norm.
I teared up when Norm passed. I wasn't a superfan or anything of that sort but for some reason I just knew, deep down that his passing was the loss that comes from knowing you'll never meet anyone like him ever again.
I don't know if it would've helped if they had announced his condition before hand (ie Alec Trebek.. Patrick Swayze) but it was sure a gut shot to hear it announced that he had passed. It's crushing to know that kind of genius has gone from this world.
I watched The Orville and it was surprisingly touching to see they kept his character right up to the last episode of the final season. It seems like everyone loved Norm for the crazy genius he was.
Norm was on the Orville? I guess I have to watch it now.
Finally. I’ve been waiting to see Jeff for a while!!
The moth joke still kills me.
This was one of my favourite eps in a whole
Is there a way for you guys to upload the full episodes with video on this platform or other? I love, love, LOVE this show but feel it's a million times better with video seeing your guys' reactions to each other! 😂 Much love to you guys for bringing alot of laughter to my life! Funniest show out there in my opinion! 😀
I like the podcasts, but have some of them be fully filmed and show them on youtube. I don't get why he doesn't.
I see "memories of Norm", I click. Never disappointed.
WIth this podcast, my admiration for comedians as entertainers goes through the roof.
Norm !
This was so nice. Thanks for sharing it
Love this episode. Been listened to it thrice since its release.
Ha! Conan's strategy of bringing back "thrice" worked! 👍
I love this podcast, Conan is so relaxed and natural
I didn't even know he was sick!
THANKS FOR SHARING.
David Letterman adored Norm Macdonald. David said that Norm was the Best!
I miss Norm. Thank you Conan
I really miss Norm.
God i miss him.. Norm will always be the king🙏
My absolute favorite.
ross the destroyer of worlds
thank you all you wonderful people...
I was at one of those Catch a Rising Star shows in Princeton. Must have been one of those nights when Norm "bombed". Two of my pals and I were the only ones in the club laughing. And by laughing, I mean we were practically falling out of our chairs howling at his jokes. RIP funny man.
Haven't seen anything new from Jeff Ross since then. What's going on? Miss the guy!
"I didn't even know he was sick!" Even in the face of death, Norm could get a big laugh out of us. R.I.P you silly goose
At the end of the day, Funny is Funny! Norm said that once. Its so true! Miss you brother. The GOAT!
This episode is so good
Never another like Norm 💔
Great interview 💯
Jeff is so great and hearing his Norm stories really puts a huge smile on my face
Penny was in a show called "Laverne and Shirley".
Stories that how we continue to live
Norm went out with class because he was class
Norm, we miss you.
When I saw the title for this episode, I genuinely thought Conan was interviewing his Executive Producer, and I thought “I didn’t know he was this funny”.
Damn, I think Jeff Ross is morphing into Don Rickles!
The 🐐
Hey Conan. You have made my life so much funnier and Norm Macdonald is the GOAT.
I love Norm
RIP Norm. Comedy Genius.
Hot young comics from Canada always set the streets on fire
Wasn't into norm until 5 years ago . Glad I did
Jeff and Conan American treasure
Norm didn’t pull any punches,he could be brutal to his victims. The Clinton and OJ jokes were merciless.
nice story
If Norm had been public about his illness, who knows what kind of comedy he could find in that. I can totally see him as a guest on Conan's show and saying, "So I'm, like, dying, right?" in his usual way. What he could do with that prompt and where he could go with it in the typical Norm MacDonald way. He could make you laugh about anything.
He certainly don’t look for pity . He’s a legend
Jeff when he is not trying to riff is mesmerizing kind of like you don’t believe it. Rodney Dangerfield was the same way when he was super serious on Howard.
