    I love that your husband knew it was go time, I was having contractions with my first in the middle of the night and I told him i wasn’t sure if we should leave for the hospital and he said “its time to go”. Such a blessing because I was definitely in labor!!! I’m so glad my husband made that decision for us lol Sounds like yours did the same ❤️

Little did I know that I was actually in transition and that was going to be the worst it would ever be. Nearly three years later and I vividly remember my body pushing on its own. I just found your channel and am watching your first pregnancy- our labor and delivery’s are sooooo similar! I woke up around 1:30 feeling like I had to use the bathroom but couldn’t so I went back to bed, and I kept getting up because I wasn’t sure if I had to poop or I was having contractions. They started to get very painful and were about 1 1/2 min apart so I got scared and called L&D and they told me it must just be dehydration and told me to drink water and wait an hour. After the call it got sooo much worse and intense so I just woke up my husband and told him we have to go. We got to OB triage and it was unbearable, the nurses were so calm not thinking it was a big deal and I was just in panic in my mind. She finally asked me if I felt like pushing and I said yes so she checked me, I was 8cm and it was only an hour since I woke up. So they quickly took me to the labor room and I had my daughter at 3:30am, exactly 2 hours since I woke up!

    I just discovered your channel yesterday and I love it!!! I love hearing birth stories, mine is also a funny one..I delivered my baby girl on Oct 15th this year, she came at 37w4d and I am glad she did because otherwise her 8.7 pounds would destroy me. I was enjoying a walk with my husband when i felt a sudden very acute pain, I froze and couldn't move, we had to get a cab for the remaining 200m to get home. Once home my husband called the hospital to tell them that we were leaving home and we live 40mins far from the hospital. The doctor was asking him a lot of questions, one of them, how far apart my contractions were, i explained that they were back to back and when she heard me breathing she told me..ok come on in we will check you. We arrived, I was admitted 30 mins later, once in the room i started to have a very intense pain, i took a warm shower to relax, and then I was in so much pain i decided it was time for epidural. Apparently I went from 4cm to 9cm in only 20mins, so that is why the whole breathing technique become complicated and I wasn't able to hold it anymore, when the doctor arrive 30 mins after i started i was 9-10cm and it was time to push. It was literally as you said, as if i was being ripped in half. At some stage I started to say " I can't do it , i can't i can't !" but my husband remember what the nurse told him during prenatal classes, and came close and went through some birth affirmations that I prepared in advance : your body will do it, your body is designed to do this, you will be a great mom, the pain will not go away until the baby is out", that last one sticked to me, i wanted the pain to disappear so I got all my energy back and started pushing again. Once Celia was coming out I felt like if something ripped me in half , i hada 4 degree tear because when labor happens too fast our muscles aren't given the time to stretch slowly, but I felt great anyway. I just feel like when other friends ask me what it feels like, i can't tell them it really feels like someone is having a bbq down there while another one rips me in two, or they will never want to be mothers.

    I feel like my 1st labor and yours were almost identical! Mine was 4 hours from when my water broke.. but I was also in triage screaming while the nurses took their time.. then my body started pushing by itself and I asked them to check me. I was 9 cm and they worked so fast to get me into a delivery room.

  • @kirstenashley4289
    @kirstenashley4289 Před 5 lety

    My doctor said I had "really bad road rash" too lol, but same here -I pushed for like less than 6 minutes with my first (and only so far) baby girl. I didn't go as fast as you (first contraction knocked me to my knees around 11:50am, had a baby in my arms around 5:25 pm), but I was in stabbing pain with sooo much pressure from the very beginning and my contractions went from 6 minutes apart to less than 3 within the first 4 times haha so I got an epidural at 5 cm because I was just sobbing in pain, couldn't get out of bed, and my water hadn't even broken yet (which amps pain up further). Crazy how people progress and feel so differently during labor!! The urge to push was amazing and insane cause nobody had to coach me, I just pushed when I felt my body want to do so as a contraction came on -my epi was the perfect balance of blocking out the stabbing pain but letting me feel all of the pressure; I loveddd it!

    I'm watching this so long after, in 2024, and this is (so far) VERY similar to my first birth story 2 years ago!! And now I'm pregnant again, due in less than 2 months ❤
    But I had the same thing where the contractions didn't really feel like that, they felt like I needed to use the bathroom 😂 But they were very close together from the very first hours I started timing them (3/4 min apart) and we headed to the hospital! It took about an hour to get there and my water broke on the way there. I was dilated to a SEVEN when I arrived!!! And my daughter was born a couple hours after that! So from the time I felt the very first pains (turns out they were contractions) until she was born was only 8 hours!

  • @ashleymarie2749

    I almost lost my first son because I knew something was wrong because he wasn’t moving and I was scared and my doctor said it was fine and that he was just getting cramped and didn’t have room to move but I knew something was wrong. Went to the hospital anyways and found out he was in distress and wasn’t getting enough oxygen and they said if I had waited another 2 hours he’d be dead. I freaking hate it when people don’t take first time moms seriously and just brush us off like we’re crazy or over exaggerating. We are still mothers and we have mothers instincts. And then with my third son they checked me when I got to the hospital and I was at like 2 and then 30 minutes later another nurse came in and I told her I have to push and she’s like no you’re only 2 cm and I was like well then you better get ready because I’ve done this before and I know this feeling and this baby is coming out whether you’re ready or not and so she rolled her eyes and like went to check me and like her eyes went wide and was like oh wow he’s crowning and like she called for the doctor and he didn’t even have time to put a gown and gloves on he just got between my legs and the nurse held one leg and my husband held the other and I pushed twice and he was out. But for your first delivery going so fast is amazing. My first was an emergency c-section and then my second was 10 hours of labor and 12 hours of pushing god I was so happy my third just slid out cause I told my husband before “I can’t do another 22 hour labor and delivery I just physically can’t do it”

    Why do you have to wait for the doctor? Surely the midwives are trained to assist you? In the UK you only need a doctor when it is complicated.

    • @kirstenashley4289
      @kirstenashley4289 Před 5 lety +5

      In US hospitals you usually only have normal nurses and doctors unless you've hired midwives or doulas. The nurses ARE trained to deliver or assist, but they try to wait for the doctor if at all possible. My nurses let me "practice push" while waiting for the doctor to get down the hall, but I only had to push for 6 minutes total anyway -if my doctor had been running late, they would have probably told me to hold off on pushing for as long as possible. Not sure if it's a legality issue or what, but they always try to have the doctor there even though they're all capable of delivering a baby safely...

      Yeah, they give you a catheter because your legs tend to go pretty numb and they don't want you trying to get out of bed and stuff and getting hurt or having to have someone drag you on and off of the toilet etc lol. I had an epi and I only had a catheter in for like 40 minutes tops cause I progressed so fast, but lots of people end up there for hoursssss.
