Paul McCartney: I joined a group, and my group was the Beatles....Wow.. It`s crazy when you think about it. It must be such an honor for Dave and the rest of the Foo Fighters to be inducted by one of their heroes. Kurt Cobain used to be a massive Beatles fan too, even though he didn`t care for Paul McCartney as a human being.. I think that would have changed if they had met.. Dave is now a dear friend of Paul, and that is why he inducted Dave and the Foo Fighters into the Rock and roll hall of fame.
@@xMarreTV Ok, i never knew that. I`ve seen a youtube clip of Kurt where he is singing "And i love her" which was written mainly by Paul. Kurt also said he never knew which Beatle who wrote the songs, but stated that he was a massive Beatles fan. That means he must have admired Paul musically regardless of what he felt about Paul as a human being.
@@jd0879 Ok, who cares? The Beatles was John, Paul, George and Ringo. I don`t understand how somebody can like the Beatles and hate Paul McCartney at the same time. McCartney was a really important member of the Beatles, and wrote their biggest songs, either with John, or by himself.
Brian Wilson was rejected this year, to be inducted as a solo artist - Let's hope for Brian in 2022! Very good chance Paul would induct him too, considering the 50+ years of good press for Brian he has given, and their friendship.
Paul related to Dave and the Foo Fighters as best he could, through his own experience. It worked. It was a little unusual in the sense that you typically have a contemporary or someone influenced by the band from the next generation give the induction speech. I think it’s much harder to do when the tables are turned and the *influencer* is doing the speaking. Under those circumstances, he did as well as he could.
Yes... It is as if Elvis Presley had inducted The Beatles into the rock and roll hall of fame.. I`m sure John, Paul, George and Ringo would have been speechless since they were such fans of Elvis, and really started out because of him. Dave and Paul are really close friends. I`m glad Paul did this for Dave. I also think Paul is a massive fan of both Foo Fighters and Nirvana. He is really into good contemporary music.
Paul and Dave are friends. They have been for a long time. There's a lot of respect between both of them. Paul knows what a big influence he has been on Dave and has a lot of respect for Dave, obviously Dave has a lot of respect for Paul as well. His friend Paul agreed to introduce them. Nothing more. Nothing less.
If you've never looked up Dave Grohl performing for Obama at the White House you should look into it. Paul was in the front row and Dave did a great version of band on the run citing both Obama and Paul as both of his heroes.
Fun Fact: Dave actually came up with Foo Fighters because he didn't want to sound like a solo artist after Kurt died. His inspiration to come up with a band name came from Stewart Copeland from The Police that recorded an album under the name Clark Kent after The Police broke up. I've watched Dave talk about it numerous times.
It's worth it just to hear Sir Paul drop that "F bomb". (But maybe I'm amazed that he manages to induct another band into the RnRHoF by talking about himself LOL! But he and Dave are actually good friends....
