It was said that after the conspirators were executed. Goebbels was waiting for him at home and ask him "why did you killed them? We wanted them alive."
At least Fromm was executed by firing squad, which was a quick death compare to others who were hanged by a piano wire which caused a slow, excruciating death...
Tom Cruise doesn't get enough credit for being a great actor. You can almost feel the weight of heartache and heartbreak delivered by his eyes in the exchange beginning at 0:24

I love that this movie had actors from other great WW2 films like ‘Conspiracy’ and ‘Downfall’. It seems that once you get cast in a WW2 film, you’re in the genre for the long-haul.
10/10 writing, 10/10 acting, 10/10 set design, 10/10 narrative design...you've got an awful lot of rope to hang yourself with re: accents if literally every other aspect of the movie is absolutely top notch. Brilliant, brilliant film.
Seeing Kenneth Branagh playing the role of General Henning von Tresckow in this film and playing Reinhard Heydrich in Conspiracy shows what a great actor he is.
"No one will be spared" General Fromm's expression was really impressive, he knows that the German Reich is at the brink of destruction and an allied/soviet held Germany would see leadership and command eliminated.
This scene is surprisingly accurate from a historical perspective. Fromm did refer to Stauffenberg as “the colonel-whose-name-I-will-not-mention” just like in this scene. There are a few minor differences though. For example, Stauffenberg pleaded to let the others go since it was his full responsibility, but he was ignored by Fromm. Also Stauffenberg was no longer using his eye patch. When Fromm asked whether anyone would want to write a letter, Olbritch responded that we wanted to write a letter to his wife, and Fromm allowed him to do so. Also when Beck held the gun he did say “I am thinking about past times”; however, Fromm interrupted him screaming “JUST DO IT” since he knew troops loyal to Hitler were about to arrive and he did not have much time. Beck shot himself but he only injured himself and was still alive. He tried a second time but was still alive. Then Fromm asked an officer to finish him off who refused to do so ordering a lower ranking militar to finish Beck.

Fromm's tangential involvement in the coup was similar to that of Rommel, essentially knowing of the plan and taking no action to stop it. Rommel was popular with the German people and he had also suffered a serious head wound right after D-Day. With the assurance of his family being provided for, he accepted his fate and did not try to conceal his actions (or inactions) the way Fromm did.
Then Hitler hypocritically gives Rommel a state funeral. If Rommel had seen out the war I highly doubt he wouldn't have been charged with any war crimes etc. Out of all the senior Generals his record was near clean throughout the war..

Did Fromm stand by and watch Stauffenberg hand Hitler a forged document to sign? He was in the room. The recent film about Rommel goes into detail about his passive awareness of the plot before being wounded. That would at least signal an act of omission that further enabled Valkyrie to continue. He received a "better death" than the active conspirators, but that seems to have been given primarily to avoid embarrassing Hitler rather than a recognition of Rommel's long service.

Fromm's action of having the main plotters executed by firing squad as stated probably saved the plotters unspeakable pain and humiliation at the hands of the SS, SD and the Gestapo, as small as it may be it was a blessing, quick painless with a bullet, instead of having your finger and toe nails ripped out.

Beck's slow moving was the reason they were in that situation to begin with. If Beck and Olbrict had moved faster instead of waiting for hour's the attempt might have worked.

General fromm did a great favor for the conspirator, fromm let the conspirator died with dignity rather than face the ss and people court. As ww2 came to an end, hitler became completely mad, he lash out at everyone, he kill people for the smallest mistake.
Yes for example one of the plotters General Hopner had the chance to commit suicide, but he decided to face the people court. He later regretted this decision based on the torture and humiliation he had to go through.

About Fromm, I didn't mean that moment, with Hitler. I mean when the plotters sprang the coup and Fromm refused to sign the order to mobilize the Reserve Army, they put his fake signature on the Valkyrie order. This is show in the movie (see clip 8/11) and is historically confirmed, also Wikipedia lists that on the page about Fromm.

Fromm's action of having the main plotters executed by firing squad as stated probably saved the plotters unspeakable pain and humiliation at the hands of the SS, SD and the Gestapo, as small as it may be it was a blessing, quick painless with a bullet, instead of having your finger and toe nails ripped out.

Beck actually tried to shoot himself twice, until some officer was ordered to put him out of his misery.
Beck's slow moving was the reason they were in that situation to begin with. If Beck and Olbrict had moved faster instead of waiting for hour's the attempt might have worked.

Out of the color of uniforms, I think the colonel light gray uniform is the best one from the different shades of olive greens.
His color looks almost black too. They used a lot of Italian gaberdine to make privately tailored uniforms.

In the TNT (I think) movie “The Plot to Kill Hitler”...... yeah, exiting title, right? ...... Fromm is a more sympathetic character at the end. He walk up close to Stauffenberg and says “It is better for you here, now.” He knows he is saving them a much more grim future. That is also a good watch, FYI.

General fromm did a great favor for the conspirator, fromm let the conspirator died with dignity rather than face the ss and people court. As ww2 came to an end, hitler became completely mad, he lash out at everyone, he kill people for the smallest mistake.
Yes for example one of the plotters General Hopner had the chance to commit suicide, but he decided to face the people court. He later regretted this decision based on the torture and humiliation he had to go through.

At the same time i have a feeling General Fromm wanted hitler dead as well but was just so fearful of the consequences if the plan didnt follow through. Also he didnt want them handed over alive maybe because he didnt want them to go through torture? Plus too he mustve known he wouldve gotten in huge trouble and probably killed because he disobeyed hitlers orders to take them in alive. Maybe it was his way to show them his respects for their attempt. But who knows, just my theory.
