    I get paralysed and have seizures so I have to use a chair. But I can walk well. Just not safely or reliably. I’m the picture of health visually.

      Hi, sorry to disturb you, but someone close i know, gets seizures and its kinda a traumatising experience for them so they don't really talk about it, can you please tell me if there's anyway for you (someone who gets seizures) to communicate if you are about to get a seizure or anything in advance. Please don't take this in a offending way, I'm honestly just curious and want to help someone.

      @Aditri Srivastava hi, im an epileptic who gets seizures. It kinda depends what kind your friend gets, have you ever seen it happen or know what type they have?

    So relatable. I'm not cracking my head open or dislocating my hip just because I can technically "walk".

    Once I was literally accused of stealing because I was seen standing from my chair to grab an item from an upper shelf. They thought I was faking my disability and stuffing stuff in my chair. I was not. Disabilities do not all look the same.

      Bruh what kind of chair has pockets

    • @kzcreationzmore
      @kzcreationzmore Před rokem +31

      @@Ambipie well it actually did in the back.. At the time I didnt have a custom, so I was using a more traditional medical looking one (with handles removed) that did have a pocket in the back. I will give it to them that it not being a costum and having a pocket may have made it slightly more suspicious (if they knew anything about wheelchairs… which honestly isn’t likely based in their ignorance) but its all I had at the time. Also, the pocket had nothing in it (except a glasses cleaning cloth and a random receipt) so it was flat against the chair. Im not sure how they would have even seen it or come to the conclusion that there was any products inside lmao

    I have ME/CFS, I can walk but that would mean I have to spend a week in bed recovering from it. I have a power wheelchair for preventative purposes, the same way I wear glasses. There's really nothing wrong with my eye sight, it's just the illness that makes my muscles so weak it affects my eye sight too.

    Wheelchairs don’t equal no leg function in all cases. I want to design a better rollator that doubles as a wheel chair. I have one (drive rollator transport chair) and it’s awkward and painful to sit in when I need to be pushed.

    Finally!! I can't also walk for very long due to my eating disorder, first it was for saving calories and not burning them because I was heavily underweight (doctor said I should've died)
    But due to my anorexia atletica my nerves and muscles had severely damaged to the point where i hurt from the waist down so much so that im not able to walk.
    I hope it heals but at this point the doctors can't say for sure because it's not sure how much I screwed things up.
    Yes people have told me it's all my fault before
    LIKE I HAD CHOSEN TO GET ANOREXIA ATLETICA NERVOSA.
    Sure my 14 year old ass was just bored and thought oh yeah let's get the most fatal mental disorder only to still actively fight the thought patterns to this day.
    Im 20 now..
    But im doing better than ever, yes i still feel guilty.
    Yes I feel insecure.
    But i rather feel this than the hell that Is anorexia..

  • @kitsu8677
    @kitsu8677 Před rokem +5

    Yes! Wheelchairs are fantastic!
    So much better than having to sit on a nasty public floor every time I feel like I'm fainting and if I need exercise I can push it like a walker for extra stability!
    I used to be self-conscious about people thinking that I didn't really need a wheelchair when my legs aren't paralyzed and I still am some days but using a wheelchair has allowed me to do so many more activities than I would have had I insisted to only walk.

    omg people say the mental equivalent of this to me all the time i swear. i’m autistic and people always ask things like “how come you have to take breaks in class aren’t you an ap student, you must be faking so you can have it easy” like girl just bc i’m smart that doesn’t mean my brain functions perfectly all the time. and another thing is like “how come you hang out with your friends but hate big family gatherings” dude i don’t have to mask around my friends and that makes the interaction less mentally taxing, it’s honestly so annoying when ppl don’t even try to understand what it’s like to struggle bc of a disability and just ask rude questions instead of trying

    I have a rare type of dwarfism
    And I’ve had many surgeries, recently too, so I’ve been needing to get around with my manual chair, recently my parents. Sibling and I test drove a converted van so I was able to bring my power chair! It was so much fun and easier because I could raise my seat up/down when looking at things, and my arms wouldn’t be tired from pushing myself. We went to a few places and I got the occasional stares, but these women at Ross just gave me glares as if they were p!ssed off by my existence
    (I’m not saying ALL women are mean about things like this. Just saying my experience with hopefully finally having mobility without the hassle for my mom who takes my manual wheelchair in and out of our current car which is old and not converted)

This isn't the only issue. Most people have become so intoxicated that it makes humanity feel suffocating, so remember, show others what it means to have kindness because at the end of the day, we're all alike in many ways and this world needs more kindness.
