  • Starts off at the Pacific centre entrance (South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles),
further down can see 'Caravan Book Store' on 550 South Grand Avenue and Starbucks (which is on the corner of 6th and Grand), walks away from corner.
Goes to shot of phone. Phone shows it's connected to Optus.
Next shot is near the corner of South Olive and West 6th Street, while on West 6th street, walks towards number 523, the Pacific Centre (fake ANZ). A 'City National Bank' becomes visible and then a Manpower office. If he kept walking he would end up at the corner with the same Starbucks shop visible in the first shot. On Google maps using the street view option a person could have a look down the streets he walked.
Checking on the ANZ website the Los Angeles office closed in 1994 and the only US office open now is New York. The 'We Live In Your World' becomes sort of funny now.

They discussed this ad on The Gruen Transfer some years back and said how the weakness is the conceit that it assumes everyone knows who Patrick Jane is when in reality The Mentalist has rated at best only moderately well on Australian Television, so a lot of people didn't understand that Simon Baker was in character when doing this ad. It's not like it was in the past when you could have Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean or Paul Hogan as Mick Dundee or Don Adams as Maxwell Smart in an ad and everyone would get they were in character right away.

...I forgot about the music - the xylophone/keyboard-type music is a staple of The Mentalist.

Seconding MentalGal. The hairstyle, suit, and the WAY (not just the American accent) he speaks is exactly how he is when he's Patrick Jane.

He is using an american Accent because the whole point of the add is that he's being Patrick Jane, not Simon Baker. Hence the suit. And also hence the shooting it in america. I bet he earnt heapsxD
