"I think it's important to know where to draw the line between where to ask for people's opinions and where not to. However, looking back at my career, the game where I listened to other people didn't work too well." - True words have been spoken.
F-Zero GX & Yakuza 0 are 2 of my favorites videogames ever. Thanks Mr. Nagoshi for make this possible. PD: We want Yakuza Ishin occidental release, please.
This man didn't just create Yakuza, this man is Yakuza. He is the very embodiment of the franchise itself. Much like Walt Disney was to what he created.
A true visionary of the gaming industry. Daytona USA remains a timeless arcade classic. When Ryu ga Gotoku released in 2005, I was immersed and never played anything remotely close to its cinematic quality, eclectic cast of characters and rich story-telling. In 2012, 2016 and 2017 I fulfilled a lifetime goal of travelling to Kabukicho, Tokyo to document and compare real-life Tokyo to the fictionalized Kamurocho featured in the main Yakuza 龍が如く games by SEGA. I produced over 50 Yakuza real-Life Locations Tour on my channel as a tribute to the RGG Studio team.
Great interview and as a new fan and player of the Yakuza franchise (currently playing Kiwami) I can say I love the story told to me so far and I’m excited to play through the other 6 games in the franchise. SEGA FOREVER. To be this great takes AGES
Yes,those games are great.Be sure to play yakuza 6,5 and zero.My fave was 5 and 6.I finished every yakuza excluding yakuza 3 wchich i dont have yet.I even have japanese onlly realeases. One of the best series ever
Thank you for creating and developing Kiryu. The most iconic figure in my life. Could you bring us back to the 60s or 70s of Japan? Like Yakuza -1? Would be fantastic. Keep up the good work, we would like to see you for 30 years to come.
Entre todos esos inversionistas desalmados y ejecutivos con pésimas ideas, esta la gente que ama a Sega y hacen todo para verla como el gigante que es.
We first met back in 2000, and Nagoshi-san and I worked on Shenmue, SuperMonkeyBall series of games, Daytona seies, and Resident series. This was the time of Amusement Vision and here we are 20 years later. Sega was great 20 years ago and then these past years ... let's see what happens.
Congratulations, Nagoshi-san! Thank you for what you've been doing for both SEGA and the Japanese gaming industry as a whole. Take care of yourself, and may other successes come your way for as long as possible.
Wow, almost forgot about Planet Harriers! Wanted that game to come to Dreamcast so bad back in the day...... I am REALLY hoping that it could be one of the Naomi games that M2 has teased could possibly be included in the Sega Ages lineup they're doing now. A very real possibility of it happening.
@@isamuominae Yeah that would be Yu Suzuki. I understand reading that post it might seem i'm thanking Toshihiro Nagoshi for OutRun, but it was more for his work as chief officer at SEGA. Apologies lol
Been a SEGA gamer since being a child will always support them. Bright future ahead can't wait for the Megadrive Mini and hopefully a Sonic Adventure remake or a new Shinobi game and more great SegaAges content. Yakuza is one of my favourite franchises after experiencing it first on the PS3 with Yakuza 3 and then carried on from there.
Its amazing to think that the yakuza series came out as a "bet". Nagoshi legitimately said, if yakuza 1 is a failure, i will won't ever step foot here again, this is one of the greatest stories to follow your dreams, even if it costs a lot
Such an amazing person and my favourite games Director of all time. Apparently i was a big fan of his for so long before i even knew who he was. I'm such a massive fan of Daytona USA and SMB. A message to his fans play Binary Domain if you havent already its a really good game its a bit cheesy but the feel is great a fps that has a slightly arcade feel . And the plot is amazing id love a BD 2.
Nice interview would really appreciate enjoying this game studios games on xbox considering Sony is teaming up with them on the next console cycle so what's the harm just a shame that you have to get to a second game console to play these great games.
Please save the The Sonic Statue In The Mountains. in a few years the cracks in its arms will get bigger, and its arms will fall off. Soon, the board sonic is standing on will break, and sonic will fall into the street. But he cant be outside anymore, He will just decay again. He needs to be repaired, given a new nose, and fixed. The sticker on the bottom of the board is falling off, and you cant see the sonic and knuckles logo on it, all you can see is the segasonic logo. Who is it owned by. Who did you sell it to Sega. He needs help now, Or else he will fall apart. Please help, Its the sonic in japan, in the mountains, people think it might have been sold to farmers. It was part of a interior display at a segaworld in japan. please help sonic, get permission to get him out of the forest. he needs help.
His memoir will read "After a 30 year long career with a great company, I chose China instead." No worries bro, Sega and the Yakuza series has been 30 years over due for a better writer. BURN!

As fledgling Game Designer, his words were heartfelt, inspiring and humble.
Thank you for all the journeys you've took us on.
This man is honestly something else in the industry.
He would be the only one I would trust Sonic with.
Daytona to Yakuza, so many great games, congratulations on 30 years at SEGA!
Bring Super Monkey Ball to the Switch please! The Yakuza series is a rare gem in the industry as well!
He turned his back to that game, some people seem to forget what got them to the place they're at now.

I liked when he said that many people enter the game industry but never get to make their own game. Its true, but I never thought about it this way.
Awesome person, I hope you guys will continue to create more great games at Sega for many years.
Father of Super Monkey Ball, thank you for the brilliant gaming experience during my childhood.
I love you Nagoshi San!
I rarely even watch interviews to the very end and I'd like to see more of these!
