  • In June 1944 the notorious 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich got orders to head at full speed to Normandy to repel the allied invasion. Their journey north was plagued by problems, not least repeated attacks by the French resistance. In reprisal they committed a series of horrific war crimes which ultimately led to the destruction of almost the entire population of Oradour-Sur-Glane. This is that story.

As a Limoges resident I would like to say that this was superbly narrated and the respect shown to the subject is quite evident. The digitally reconstituted village was quite moving. Very well done and thank you for remembering.

AS A JEW, WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE MURDERING SCUMBAGS? DID THEY ALL FACE TRIAL? (PROBABLY NOT). WERE THEY ALL GIVEN A ROPE NECKLACE? (DEFINATELY NOT).

Let’s not forget, the SS were Germans with a few other recruits from other countries, also the Nazis were Germans , not a different race or country.

Le régiment Azov de l'armée ukrainienne arbore fièrement les symboles et logos de la division SS "Das Reich", cela semble ne gêner personne, même en France.

This is chilling & indeed is an example of Nazi brutality repeated across Europe. Over 600 towns + villages suffered this fate in Belarus & Ukraine. 600 more Oradours. Beggars belief.

When I lived in France I learned so much about this. Some of the SS told people to run and shot around them helping them escape. They shouted "run run" because they didn't want to kill them.

Not to forget the slaughter of innocents and total destruction of the village of Lidice in Czechoslovakia as retaliation for the killing of Reinhard Heydrich.

Eerie and impressive watching how the computer software brings to life the ruins of the village. An example of computer generated images at their dramatic best!

Another of the saddest losses of WWII. Bless them, may they rest in peace. They didn't deserve this.❤

Man never learn from past history. The German people were brain washed with non stop propaganda/lies to push certain peoples agendas. Like our schools, so called news and social media are doing today to our youth and gullible adults. Just look at the political and big pharma lies and manipulation regarding COVID and how they had the world cowering in their homes even after they knew it was as serious as first thought. Wake up people.

Such a shameful pity that the old world was blown to bits. Horrible.

What is additionally horrible is that the town had done nothing in the way of an ambush or sabotage. It was just an easy target for an SS unit to make an example but given the breakdown of communications in the war compared to today, only the French Resistance heard of this massacre. Makes me want to shove this into the face of all the members of the Canadian Parliament who gave two standing ovations to a Ukrainian member of Waffen-SS Galicia Division.

This is why I`ll never understand how some people can be neo-Nazis today.
