    First, Dr Tariq, thanks for this wonderful video, i recently discover your channel and it has helped me alot in answering my questions regarding Usmle journey. I wanted to asked about Observerships. Are they important because, these days many hospitals does not offer electives and those which are offering elective requires VSLO, unfortunately my college is not VSLO affiliated. It is difficult for me to find electives. so i was wondering if you could shed some light on observerships.
    Regards.

    I've noticed a trend lately that Step 1 is becoming a requirement for an elective in more and more places.
    I'll be looking to apply for the 2023 Match, do you think it looks likely we'll see the shift back from telerotations to in-person electives soon? At the moment, getting an elective/observership/visa is pretty difficult due to the pandemic.

      Thank you for your question. Absolutely as soon as the pandemic ends, things will change. That being said no one truly knows when it will completely end. Hopefully soon...

    Hi Sir, how can i manage timeline of my electives, like supposedly if i get selected for three electives, how do i ensure none of them get clashed so that I am able to attend all of them within a space of 3-4 months?
    P.S- I am asking this so that i can take an extended break of 3-4 months altogether from my internship.

      You apply for different months and space them out!

    Thank you umar bhai. I have a question regarding publications. Is it necessary that your research should be published in pubmed indexed journels? Like in pakistan many journels are not pubmed indexed. And secondly is it really necessary that ur research should get published only in medical journels? Does it count if ur articles get published in some scientific journels but not medical journels? Thanks in anticipation bhai.

    • @mededia
      @mededia  Před 3 lety +1

      It should be in medical journals but the impact and value is way less if published in non-indexed journals.

      Not that I know. Get good scores in USMLEs and apply for volunteer research after step 1. Good luck!

    Thanks a lot for your elaborative explanation!! Could u please shed some light on graduation date confusion? If I apply when I am in my final year,and the elective starts 1 months after my final professional exam result announcement, would i be eligible?

    • @mededia
      @mededia  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes as long as your degree is not awarded. You can do electives till you receive the diploma.

      Your university applies for it and it is relatively less challenging to apply for electives then!
