      Thanks so much Pedro! I really appreciate your positive comments. It’s a new channel and I’ll do my best to keep it interesting. I gotta lot of cool projects to share and the bus is running and more to come with that too!!

    You went the right way going with the Subaru tranny. They are made for each other! 😊 I have a 84 Westy with the 2.5 and 5 speed. It's a totally different vehicle. For air in the cooling system I start the engine up and bring it up to temp then let it sit overnight pulling coolant from the over flow tank. I do that a couple of times and it purges all the air. Yeah, it takes a little time but I'm not in a hurry. Now you're gonna have to update the brakes to match the engine!

    RMW bay rad kit works great . If you don't seal and shroud the rads it will never work. Need the proper fans too. I personally saw Mike Labates subie 2.2L 77 westy with AC and his bay rads. He said 30k miles and no issues

      Thanks Jed! Haha! I don’t think I’ll be going into business doing VW/Subaru swaps! Takes a lot of time, of course it would be quicker if I bought all the parts vs fabrication!

    in all honesty on these two test drives , i would call the Swap a success the few items you want to troubleshoot or address. don’t appear to be too big of a problem perhaps a few r weeks and changes is to be expected i do like the floor selector set up. ! it’s the right Old School look Congrats in a good job BTW i’m a binge watcher yes

    You could try using gauges feeding on the can bus via DLC. This build has been awesome

    • @WolfofWisco
      @WolfofWisco  Před rokem +2

      Can bus and DLC are not in my vocabulary! Lol. I wanted an analog tachometer, it had coolant and oil pressure as well as your meter. It was a $42 tach. I’ll look into your suggestions- thanks!

    Hello great work. Are you happy with how the Subarugears reverse Auto kit? I have heard some mixed reviews about noise and the chain breaking.

    Vehicles difficult to bleed just drill a few 1/8th inch ish holes on thermostat,added benefit,limp home cooling if/ when thermostat fails.

    • @WolfofWisco
      @WolfofWisco  Před 10 měsíci

      The stock thermostat has a 3/16” hole, I also tried a thermostat plate with a 5/8 hole (instead of a thermostat)… still wouldn’t bleed the air , finally I got the air out by drilling a hole in the crossover pipe in the highest point , and that did the trick. Each system is different but some are tough to bleed quickly.

    Electric power steering conversion next ??
    I know kits are available but interesting to see a DIY conversion, pretty sure easily do-able ?
    👌

    • @WolfofWisco

      Electric power steering is a great idea! With this big steering wheel and most of the weight over the rear axle , the front steers fairly easily! Cheers!

      @@WolfofWisco I'm pretty sure I've watched a video on YT of someone in the US , iirc they used Toyota Prius bits.
      They sell the bus specific kits here in the UK but they are $$$

    Get the neutral switch hooked up and you might smooth out the idle. My 5sp conversation needed it. With out it the computer gets confused.

    • @WolfofWisco
      @WolfofWisco  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for the tip. After running a bit the idle smoothed out nicely. Upon cold startup, it goes high idle for 3-4 seconds and then drops to proper idle. I think the switch is hooked up correctly-

    • @cennsa140driver
      @cennsa140driver Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@WolfofWisco OK sorry, I must of misheard your comment on the neutral switch. Mine does the same at startup. It runs so smoothly I sometimes don't know it's idling back there!

    @waynesitarz424 Před rokem

    Fix for the idle surge?

    • @WolfofWisco
      @WolfofWisco  Před rokem

      Yes- I had a bad connection on the MAF sensor, I extended the wire harness and had a bad solder joint. Now after I start the engine , RPMs initially climb to 1500 and aftern2-3 seconds the idle drops to around 600-700.
