BRICS: A counterweight to western-led G7 group of leading democracies? | DW News

  • Leaders of the BRICS group of nations are meeting in Johannesburg. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are home to 40 percent of the world's population. President Putin is not there, though. Russia is being represented by foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, since Mr. Putin is subject to an international arrest warrant for war crimes related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
BRICS leaders will discuss a possible expansion of the five-nation bloc. Some observers believe China is keen to develop a global counterweight to the western-led G7 group of leading democracies.

BRICS aims to create a new gold-backed currency, leveraging gold's historical value. Its feasibility within the global financial system and widespread acceptance remain uncertain, contingent on economic, political, and logistical factors. Decisions regarding this new currency would involve complex considerations.

Exploring BRICS' stance on gold sparks interest, driven by its historical value, inflation hedging, and portfolio diversification. While gold offers advantages, prudent consideration of risks and alignment with individual financial goals are crucial for potential investors.

Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. Before everyone goes off and assumes where the BRICS nations are heading as a power block. BRICS is not a unified block. At least not as unified as the G7 (Colonial Club) and that is not so say that the G7 don't have their own frictions. But in BRICS, China and India are bitter rivals not to mentions that other nations within the BRICS group (Both actual member and proposed members) will have major issues moving forward. The Biggest Problem for BRICS is that India is Extremely Paranoid about China influence within the block. If BRICS is to make an impact, it is best for India to leave BRICS otherwise it will play the role of spoiler within the group and frustrate African Nation as well as other nations inside the group. India is the BRICS biggest problem and spoiler. And the West will use India's vacillation to hinder the impact of BRICS.

China provides human rights by showing others that eliminating absolute property on a large scale is possible. The biggest human rights is the rights to stay alive and to develop! Brazil can work with China to improve its green infrastructure as China is the biggest world green technology provider today. Both work together will be the biggest fortune this world has regarding fights against the global warming. Russia can truly contribute to provide energy and food stability. Africa has to develop to benefit their own people and the world. It will improve its infrastructure and be an equal productive member of the world without constantly being looked down by the west.

@@vintagecostumegems7741Why wouldn’t’ China? We Chinese have been producing and trading with the world for thousands of years, and we are still producing. It totally makes sense that Africa would like to learn to produce and to industrialize, China doesn’t want to monopolize production and be responsible for all the population in the world. Monopolize the world production has never been our aspiration. We just happen to be good at a lot of things, and are getting all these hate due to others jealousy. we just want the Africa to develop and then we can trade. There will always be something Chinese can make better than others, same for the African people, that’s why we trade, make friends and help each other. The western view of win-loss is so selfish and unsustainable. 😅 China wants win-win. Which vision of the world is the future and righteous is so obvious.

@@eltonlewis4979The G7 lead west has been keeping Africa on the bottom of the food chain for so long and still wants the same thing till this day, that’s why they hate China for building infrastructures for Africa. Only with good infrastructures can Africa be built up one day to support modern production and a real industrialization that benefited the mass.
