  • Elena shows the process of designing the corset dress by draping it directly on a dress form. The dress has a close fitted bodice which is basically a kind of "cupped corset" while the skirt has immense flare.
    To further explore the designs you may consider taking Elena's course : "Corset Draping, Design& Redesign". The knowledge that you will gain, the ideas that Elena shared in the course can be well applied to the dress creations. For information visit this page: www.ewstfashionlab.com/corset...

    I so wished I had started off fashion design with draping rather than pattern drafting as it gives one a much better understanding as to the way the flat patterns work around the body. Most people can copy a block from a pattern book but without the understanding of just why and how and so forth it's drafting in the dark imho. When i started draping years later I thought AHH, EUREKA 💞🙃💥💞 That's why this and That's why that 🌞 So yes, loving your flamboyant style 🌞 greetings from New Zealand with Gratitude

      Thank you for your very insightful comments! I actually advise students to learn and practice draping first. Learning both - draping and pattern drafting is advantageous.

    By far my favourite waist length I will attempt to make this dress, have my doubts about the corset because I'm no size 8 or 10 but a 14, but I'll see how it fits me, as usual, Elena it's very beautiful, thank you for sharing.

    Thank you Elena for the wonderful draping tutorials of the fashion designs you share with us. If I may, could you make a video draping the pattern for a MERMAID style skirt? The upper skirt, "SLIM-FITTED with a lower skirt "FULL CIRCULAR FLOUNCE". Maybe with a 'V' POINT style line for the upper skirt.

    i love your videos and i really love this dress! excited to try it out! i have a question about draping panels for the bustier. do you mark style lines directly on top or at the edge of the style tape when drawing the panels? thank you in advance for your assistance and the beautiful work!

    • @absolutepowermonk
      @absolutepowermonk  Před 3 lety +3

      I follow the middle of the style tape; you may even draw a pen/marker line in the middle to be sure that you follow it. This way provides more accurate patterns

    When draping, how much do you leave for seam allowance?
