#TBR - Zábava
Anne of Green Gables is very cozy, about found family and being the weird kid. It's a favorite of mine!
You HAVE to read Anne GG it’s one of my favorite books of all time!! I’m going to be so sad if you unhaul this list it’s too good.
I can’t wait to see what you think of Anne of Green Gables! The old movie with Megan Follows as Anne was an absolute favourite growing up (and the classic adaptation everyone should watch). But I hadn’t actually read the book until last year (I’m ashamed as a Canadian lol). I LOVED the book even more than the movie! Seriously, Anne’s character is so much fun!
The Netflix series is also very good
I read all the Princess Diaries books in 2023, and I listened to them in audio form. Honestly I really got invested into the drama and conflama of it all. My favourite aspect of the story is how often it pokes fun at the Disney movie, calling it inaccurate to Mia's real life and stuff. Have fun!
Along with AGG i would also recommend Black Beauty. It's amazing and the book closest to my heart. It's the autobiography of a horse and it's such a good read. It'll leave with a warm and free feeling inside your chest
I used to live in Nottingham so here are some tips! There's sadly not a whole lot to do in Nottingham Forest itself these days aside from the walk (which is nice!)/ If you wait until the summer though they usually have the Robin Hood festival where there are lots of events and you can try stuff like archery, watch jousting matches that kinda thing. Edwinstowe is probably the closest place to the Forest itself so might be good if you found a place to stay there for easy travelling. In terms of other Notts landmarks, Newstead Abbey is very pretty (it has peacocks!). There's Nottingham Castle as well but I don't know if it's open any more as they've been doing a lot of changes recently.
YES TO KEEDIE. It was SO GOOD. She's somehow even more brilliant in this one.
That edition of Robin Hood is gorgeous! Also I am SO JEALOUS you got the Broken Binding Bone Ships books. They're so, so, so pretty! Wuthering Heights, Yellowface and Lonely Castle in the Mirror are also on my tbr for this year, hopefully we love them 😅
Robin Hood: Men in tights is great.
Currently reading Wuthering Heights and I’m loving it so far !More humor in it than I expected for sure, and can’t wait for you to do the Brontë sisters video because I had the exact same thought to read from all 3 sisters this year 😆
Side note it’s also a great winter read so far 😇
Wuthering heights had been on my tbr for the last 2 years 🤦 I am looking at it on my shelf right now. This has to be the year. I'm thinking before the end of this winter, while it's still cold and cosy season.
i always love videos like this!im always looking for middlegrade recs from you and you’ve not disappointed yet (and probably ever lol). it also helps me to actually have motivation to get through my own tbr lol
I am SO excited for you to read the princess diaries! I read the whole series last year and even as a 30 year old woman I thought they were fantastic. Wildly different than the movies (and the second or third book actually references the movie) but just as good
Uuuuhhhh yes I actually really like your short videos. They mean less work for you and they’re something I can just watch in between ❤ love it
Love Anne of Green Gables! I grew up near where it is set!
Omg The House Witch!!! I looooooooove that series! It's so cozy and sweet and cute, and I love every character so much with my whole heart!
Five little pigs is great! I greatly enjoyed reading it last year 🎉
I'm glad to hear that you're reading "The Beetle", Gavin! Maybe now I'll finally pick up my copy!
These are great picks for the year! I hope that you enjoy them all 🧚🏻♀️🌴🌞
The House Witch is on my priority TBR this year too! It's 100% based on the cover... didn't even know what it was about hahaha
I'm looking forward to your review of these books 😊 I just read Kindred last week, and it's my first 5 star of 2024!
Yeeeees Art of Prophecy!!! I hope you love it
This was great, thanks! Added a few to my TBR. 😁
I added some of these to my tbr too. The Beetle sounds especially good. Our solve a longs are so much fun ! I started reading Christie because of them. Going to definitely read Kindred. I rarely get to read books with my name.
Great mix of books, I love Lonely Castle so much will probs re-read it this year
Kindred is my favorite time-travel book next to 11/22/63! I own Lonely Castle in the Mirror but haven’t read it yet. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on everything you get to and hope you don’t have to unhaul too many books! 😄
4:57 Omg I went to Egypt in November too! It was great fun and hope you have a great vacation too.
Wuthering Heights is on my 2024 list too! Happy reading! ☺️💛
Love your list , really interesting ones I will write down
Hi from Canada! I remember reading Anne of Green Gables the summer I was 10 while laying on a blanket in my backyard ❤
The versions of the classics you have absolutely gorgeous. I'm looking at reading Anne of Green Gables this year myself. Looking at the comments on this video it seems well loved.
Wuthering Heights is also on my list for this year! I'm so excited to see what I'll think
I had no idea Robin Hood was a book! Loved the Disney movie so much growing up 🏹
excited for you to read The Bone Ships!
Yellowface was my fav book of 2023 so I hope you love it Gavin 💕💕💛💛
I have it on my tbr for february, not sure what to expect but am very intruiged
I looooove Lonely Castle in the Mirror 🥺
Ooh I haven't heard of The Beetle, definitely adding that ti my tbr! Sounds perfect 👌🏻
Ive also done 24 books to read on 2024, I really need to work on getting my tbr down 😅
11:32 Great choice! It’s truly a work of genius.
All these sound so good! They are also on my want to read list. Only one I already read a bit from was Bone Ships and I DNFed it. 🙈 I do want to try it again because maybe it was just not the right time to read it.😅
8:00 Finally, I’m ahead of you in something. I had the whole series and read everything (except the latest additions). The movies led me to the books and maybe I should’ve had a fun secret journal.
The Art of Prophecy is fantastic!
I've got Lonely Castle and Book of the Most Precious Substance on my TBR too, feel more motivated to get to them now I've seen them here!
11:26 **bursts into tears**
I have watched all the episodes so far. What is totally making it fun. Is seeing familiar people and places in the show. I live here in Vancouver where the series plus the movies were filmed.
I love the story of Robin Hood but also never actually read the book. Also haven't read Wuthering Heights yet. I love Anne of Green Gables!!! I have read it several times (no pressure! Lol). I really enjoyed All Hallows. I have never heard of The Beetle! 😱 I would be scared to have to unhaul books if i didn't get to them. Murder in the Family sounds fun.
Oooo some of those classics are choice 👌🏽
I'm currently reading Arkspire and it is so good! You will love it!
14:45 Lol it should’ve been titled ‘June’s Journey’
Ahhh I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on YellowFace!! 👏 I loved that book so much!
Five little pigs and the Peril and End House are two of my favorite Poirot books :)
Ooh Murder in the family sounds exciting! I also agree that you should read Stephen Kings Salems lot and the 1979 miniseries is also quite solid as well in my opinion. There are also 2 kimg books I also recommend The Dark Half and the 4 novella collection 4 past midnight. 🙂❤📚
I no longer go camping. I had a real camping terror happen to me in 1998 in North Carolina. I don't know the true motive of the person who was stalking me, but I do believe if my 2 big dogs did not come back out of the dark and get on either side of me growling, I would not be here. (I had no idea where the dogs were at the time, they were loose and exploring and came back when they sensed I was in danger. I didn't hear them or see them until I felt them next to me and heard them growling. It was pitch black and I was just sat down waiting. I was with friends but they had driven back down about 30 minutes away to load up with firewood and in the time they were gone it got dark and we were in the middle of nowhere). I will wait for your camping trip vlog before I tell you the rest of the details. I am sure you will be fine! I would suggest not going alone though!
You HAVE to read The House Witch series! It’s definitely cozy BUT there’s action, adventure, and culture and romance and mystery! The comedy and life’s lessons are chef’s kiss!! II literally binged the series the last couple months of 2023 and I want to live in that world! I would love to hear your thoughts and analysis on itt!!!
Hey there Gavin, I reread Anne of green gables and continued with whole series by L.M.Montgomery last year and really enjoyed, recommend 😂 becoming part of Anne's world. ❤xx
I am doing 2 reading projects: I am reading the works of Stephen King and Agatha Christie in chronological order. I am only reading the ones I have not read in the past 20 years, and 1 per month. This month I read The Sittaford Mystery and am working on The Bachman Books. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Salem’s Lot. You will definitely see nods to Dracula in there. The Mike Flanagan series Black Mass is based on it, so that would be a good pairing.
Nifty list!
The Brontë sisters are among my favorite authors, they were geniuses!
I'd like to reread Wuthering heights, and I still have to read some of their works, but their writing and the atmosphere are just amazing.
All Hallows is also high on my priority list 😊
Anne of Green Gables is great and the first in a 7 book series.
loved the house witch, read it last year.
Me singing along with you at the start haha 😊
Me learning for the first time that Sherwood Forest is a real place. 😆
Yellowface is on my 2024 tbr and I've already read it. It was really good! ❤
6:28 I like the iTV/David Suchet adaptation of this.
Kindred is one of my favorite books of all time. It's fantastic.
Gavin , i always keep looking forward to your upcoming video. Although I love this content, but j'dore la vlogs!!!!😊
New Gavin video yeah!!!
I'm looking into reading The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie! It sounds really good and up my street and hope that I love it
I liked murder in the family! I read it with my friend and that was so much fun!
If you had the chance to go to Sherwood Forest that would be amazing! I would love to visit that area 😊
Loved Forged by Blood!
I wish you luck with this list!
Arkspire is brilliant Gav I think you will love it 😍
I agree with your friend. I loathed Wuthering Heights. I mean I understand why others love it but I thought it was such a toxic relationship. No worries either way on if you love or hate it. Just enjoy the read. Also, if you do love it then I recommend Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman (she wrote the Practical Magic series). I DNF'd it because it was so much like Wuthering Heights but other reviews on Goodreads from people who loved Wuthering Heights also loved Here on Earth. Other than that looks like a great list. I now have to buy Murder in the Family in order to feed my Scooby Doo - Who done it brain. Good luck with your reads. I am sure you will have a blast!
Loved Salem's Lot! You should convince Katie to read it, too; she's had the physical and audio copies on her TBR for over a year. 🐇
For Wuthering Heights, I've been to the Bronte Parsonage years ago on my OE, and frolicked in the Moors (though it was winter and bloody freezing lol❄) Be interested to hear what you think of Cathy and Heathcliff as people.
Also reading all the 37 Poirot books in publication order. I'm only up to 3, but loving them so far!
I'm going to have a Summer of Samurai in June. I want to read both Art of Prophecy, Art of Destiny, and hopefully start on Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. If I have any time left, I will start on the Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu (thought of to be the first novel ever written).
My TBR for the year is to cut down on all my series. I have SO MANY that are finished that I need to read... Cruel Prince, Lunar Chronicles, Drowning Empire, Chronicles of the Wolf Queen... So many. I want to clear out some of the completed ones, especially the ones that I have in prettier sprayed edge form 😅. I don't need two sets!
I also do the Barnes & Noble Reading Challenge every year, so I have 52 books set aside for that, many of them in series. However, I have made it a rule that if it's in a series, I have to read them all... Or the prompt doesn't count! I can send you the link to the challenge if you wish.
Sounds like you have a bunch on your plate, Gavin. I hope you get to them all!
I plan to read The House Witch this year too
Yellowface is really good!
I just finished Murder in the Family and I think it would be perfect for a video where you try to solve it. I can recommend the audiobook because it has a full cast.
I just bought this and the audio. Looks like a great time!
I keep putting off The House Witch too!! I also made it a point that I must read my 24 for 2024 or else I have to unhaul and I'm ✨ SCARED✨
I have never heard of Ghost Girl Banana but it sounds like something I need to read!
Me: Has disliked every Bronte novel I've read, and I've read most of them.
Also, Me: Absolutely thrilled to watch the upcoming Bronte video.
Eek if I had to un haul the books I didn’t read this year it would definitely kick my ass to read them. I don’t like getting rid of my books 😂
Gavin I have been following your channel fm shadows fm one piece days. I recommend you try wandering inn review one piece style(10-20 ch at a time) it is meant to bread that way. Pros:
It will diversify your content and attract new audience.
You will love it like one piece in the long run as it is my second fav series after one piece.
You can read it all for free on author's website.
Cons:
Too long like one piece so it will take looooooong time to catch-up.
The theme is slice of life, and therefore takes a bit while to build up tension unlike storlight archive to hook you up(don't stop before 1.20 dropping the series).
If you
Want to have good time I really recommend this series and I hope you enjoy it so I can recommend more.
Gavin you should absolutely read Wuthering Heights in Haworth (Yorkshire) which is famous for being the home of the Brontë sisters and has the Yorkshire moors which is a setting in their novels 😍
I hope you read them all & don't have to unhaul any! 🤗
I never knew Sherwood Forest was a REAL place! 😲
I LOVE Anne of Green Gables! 😍
Let us know if you solve the murder before you finish the book!!! 🔦🪦
Forged by Blood & Yellowface are on my TBR for February! 😃
Jade City series is also on my list for 2024!
I loved Kindred by Octavia Butler! So good! And the protagonist is so kind, loved it, hole you like it too
I can't wait for sailor moon!
The Beetle by Richard Marsh sounds great 👍
My fave Robin Hood movies are. The disney version of course. Prince of Thieves. The recent one with Russell Crowe. And there is a tv movie called Beyond Sherwood Forrest, which Stars Robin Dunne, the first actor named Robin to ever play this role❤
I love wuthering heights, I wish I could read it for the first time again 💕
All Hallows has mixed reviews but I loved it. I will admit it has a bit of a slow start, but once it goes it goes fast and hard.
I have that exact edition of Robin Hood… I am SO curious about what you’ll think of the ending! It’s wild.
Gaviinn!! Where did you get your hoodie from?!
Wuthering Heights is amazing. Fantastic. Mindblowing. Groundbreaking. Revolutionary. However. It is Victorian Literature with a capital V and a capital L. You absolutely should not read it through the contemporary lens (at least not the first time). And I think it helps to have some background knowledge on common themes and literary devices used in Victorian literature, and have some background knowledge about the cultural context. Not saying you can't enjoy it without these things, but I've seen Wuthering Heights get such a bad rep for the worst reasons and it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I won't go into too many details, because I don't want to spoil the story, but please keep an open mind while reading it and really try to see it for what it is. Sorry if I'm being intense 😂 and I'm new to your channel, so if you're like an ex English Lit student who majored in Victorian Literature or something, I apologize 😌
Great reading list for 2024! I remember reading Robin Hood as a kid and loving it so much! I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Kindred, specifically it being labeled scifi (and Butler's own thoughts on it being labeled such). You really have some great titles on there, looking forward to your videos! ☺️
Literally so many books i want to read as well. Do let us know when you read them - it might give me the push to finally pick them up as well 😅
The House Witch is such a cute book I hope you like it ❤
good luck
Salem's Lot absolutely terrified me. I couldn't fall asleep one night because my bed was next to a window and I had just read a scene where something happens to a character who's bed was next to a window.
I plan to finish the Ezio trilogy books of Assassin's Creed and also read Altair's book as well. I also want to continue reading two manga: Dengeki Daisy and Bleach. I just started my reread of Bleach and I have only read volume one of Dengeki Daisy. I read a lot of manga series fully last year and want to read more. Some of the series I read fully were Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Ajin: Demi-Human, Hellsing, Chobits, Clover, XxxHolic, Legal Drug, Drug and Drop, QQ Sweeper, Strawberry Panic, Honey Hunt, Blood Alone, Blood Plus Adagio, Pandora Hearts, Blank Slate, Beast Tamer, Godchild, The Cain Saga, Alice19th, and Ceres: The Celestial Legend. I also read more series but I did not complete any more than those. But I want to read more manga series and continue ones I have started.
I see Ezio mentioned, I like 😁 His trilogy is my favourite of all the Assassin's Creed games👌
Will have to check out the books!
@@ladyfox6705 I read the first one and rly enjoyed it and I'm liking the second one too! My library has them randomly so I've been able to get them from there
I’m not the biggest fan of Wuthering Heights but that cover 😍
I need to finish my read list to som externt, like the Ace novels for exemple 😔 But I also started reading Re:zero Light novel 😅
