  • This was an experience, but underneath the filth and grime was indeed an original Dyson DC01. And whilst it may not look 100% still, it's not too terrible. So let's have a look.

That’s come out brilliantly mate even with the fading, looks 100 times better, and it’s got a proper motor in it not that crappy one they put in the hepa
Models, then tried to sneak into the base model, terrible motors in the de-Stijl and absolute, I still have a huge soft spot for these especially the DA001. First one I ever used was a DA001 and it welded it self to the carpet with its fixed soleplate, but by shit did that model pick up well, I bought one of the last models of the 01 just as they were being discontinued, then had a row with dyson after I used my kirby dem kit for the G4 and took pictures and videos of the 01 leaving 6lbs of shake n vac in my lounge carpet, that I pulled out with the black dem pads from the G4 I weighed it and sent it to them and sent them pics and videos, they agreed to take the machine and check it telling me the filters were dirty ( video showed me putting in new ones ) accused me of Notting have bin in correctly etc etc. So sent it back but a left a small piece of sellotape where the two parts of the motor housing meets and took a pic of it before it left my
House, when I got it back and they claimed they checked the whole machine including the motor I told them they were lying, and told them I had the proof. So they took it back again and sent a new machine that still did the same thing, and I said I was gonna sue coz the dyson obviously contain maintain 100% suction 100% of the time as it has two filters that clog with dust and reduce the airflow and suction., and that because the interior of the bin was big with the cyclone assembled it was deceiving to the eye because it looked like it had picked up more than it really had. Almost an optical illusion, especially the grit towns the bottom of the tank, thank god I had a brand new Kirby G4 at the time lol which apart from a needing a
New fan as served me very well through many many house rebuilds and Tina of brick and plaster dust and debris and only ever had the drive changed in that time ( and belts and bags). Must get the fan fixed though. I do miss it , ok so there was my two penneth about the Dyson DC01. But even after all that James dyson wrote me a letter ( probably not really written by him but signed by him) telling me it was all a work in progress. As I had been to the states by then I also wanted to know why our DC02 had no variable power or a powerhead option like the fantom models and why didn’t our uprights have flatter heads with headlights like the fantom fury and thunder Never got a response to that. Lmao

I remember those old original Dysons - like trying to push an elephant round the room.
    Sucked?
    They certainly did!

Is there any way of stopping older dyson turning green? My dc04 I got nib 3 years ago as started turning colour and has been a particular downer for me because it’s always kept in a dark cupboard when not being used.

There is, but it involves climate and light control... My mint Arctic solo 01 was put into mums loft looking like new and went green despite zero light. Not filmed that yet, lost the love for it now lol

Liquid retro bright would probably reverse the fading.
Doesn’t give blotchy results like the paste.

That's been on my mind, problem is finding a box large enough for a whole chassis, plus finding the right liquid. One day!

Nah, I tried once before and it went terribly blotchy! It got picked up a few days after I filmed the video, hopefully doing someone a good turn
