The way Ricky has a laughing fit during sainsburys are bringing out square tins kills me every time
From “horse in ‘er house” straight into “square tins”. Untouchable comedy IMO
The last 20 minutes is so classic. One of the very best episodes, for sure.
Save the humor for funeral cards, "at least you're not dead"...
.."she was a bit roug" 😂
I love how Karl denies Ricky and Steve's suspicions that his story is going to be about something crazy from his childhood and then he proceeds to launch into the horse in the house anecdote.

"That should be interesting for meatballs" ...gets me every time XD
I’m on about my 20th revolution and the meatballs line is still one of my fave moments. Absolute genius
"Dad, how long do elephants live for?" "mm..... bout 1000 years"
"It's not Liam Gallagher, is it?"
Christ. One of the best episodes, surely.
"Do you know any French?"
"Have you got any fromage?"
Genius 😂
The word "fromage" is French, and the word "some" can mean one word. So yes Karl was correct, he does know some French.
ahhhh the first appearance of the horse in the house. I've done these for 8 years now
No but I recommend leaving them all for like 2 weeks and then come back from s1e1 fresh and they are hilarious. I wish I could hear these all the first time again
I usually take little vacations listening to other podcasts or comedians for awhile at the end of each loop to keep it fresh
"That should be interesting for meatballs" has got to be the best line throughout the whole series
Love how giggly Karl is in this episode! So sweet.
Thanks Man Moth for uploading these.
"Have you got any fromage?"
I missed that first time around. That's about the extent of my French as well lol.
"interesting for meatballs" should be the title hands down
"Was it from outside the local saloon round the corner?" Gets me every time. And the square tins. This is probably the best episode out the lot
This is, without a doubt, my favourite episode. The entire White Van Man segment is just pure gold in this one.
Listening to these everyday while working, pretending I'm still 21 in 2001/2. I deny I'm nearly 40 and depressed in 2021 with no one to relate to.
Cheers. It's like all the humble down to earth and like minded folk with similar humour just vanished and got replaced by aliens
I'm there with ya mate. Everything hurts and I took it all for granted
Aww yup defo reminds me of when we had a society and hung out. With people. Even young people don't hang out any more its insane. Its so unhealthy. Both my kids are not having what we had to miss. How will they even be in their forties? I dunno what to do cos im the parent i cant take them down a lane to get stoned and climb on roofs and whatnot like we did in the old days. 😅
“This is gonna be good” - cracks me up everytime 😂😂😂
This is my 3rd time listening to them in order in the last two years
Thankyou man moth
You might have no idea the gift you have given
My girlfriend and I have broken up after 9 years together. These shows are a god send to get me through the heartache. I’ve lost count of how many run-throughs I’ve done of the shows, but they never fail to put a smile on my face.
This episode is gold 😂❤
In the same boat chief. Chin up mate. Just an opportunity meet someone even better.
Aww that sucks. My kitten died and findingnthe same. Like hanging around with your makes isnt it. Just makes you feel at home somehow. Greif sucks.
And here we have it. The greatest show of all. Every line is a gem. Ricky wasn't yet mean to Karl and having a go at him every other minute, Steve funnier than ever and Karl starts to come out of his shell more....
Agreed. I think that's why I prefer this season to the other ones. It's more jovial and friendly, yet still hilarious

Here it is!! I absolutely love getting round to this show again. Constant hilarities. The very best!
Once again Ricky’s sexy music is “the girl from Ipanema”
I was watching the Brazil episode of Idiot abroad, and the gay bloke of that sings it to Karl. Full circle.
"It's their own fault for driving, Rick."
"I don't want you goin' cattlin' rustlin'"
Gets me every time!
3:20 - "Do you know much French, Karl?" "Um...'ave you got any fromage?" xD
This is the first episode to make me literally cry with laughter. brilliant
This has got to be one of their best. These three are on fire the whole show.
"This'll be good..."
Oh, how right you were, Ricky.
12:01 "You better not, you're our whipping boy, erm, co-presenter."
Brilliant!
56:37 "Buzz Aldrin went "you tosser I was meant to go first"" 😂 The first time I've heard that in about a thousand playthroughs 😂
Love I'm still finding things in these shows after 15 years of listening to them!
One of the best episodes, the story about the horse living in the house gets me every time
Yr a bloody champ Man Moth. Last night I 'randomed' and got S1 E18 & thought, if anyone gets 19 up soon, it'll be Man Moth.
...'n' stuff.
Nxx
Square tins at sainsburys is one of the best moments of the whole series.....absolutley had me in stitches everytime.....and of course the pivotal classic moment of the horse in the house story :)
Listening in 2020. Thank you so much for uploading these as they have helped me through many difficult times. They put me at ease for a little while.
There’s something very therapeutic about listening to this trio, although I have no idea what. I began after my husband passed away.
When I'm having a bad day, I put this on because I know it will make me smile.
Karl’s quote at 52:20 about the memo is very relevant months/years later when Karl doesn’t write down a note about the offer of voiceover work for Steve and they have that big dispute
Also forgetting one of the answers to his own rock busters clue! (for The Pixies)
Still laughing at "Have you got any fromage?" lol.
What's funny about it? It's exactly what Karl said it was. "some french"
Been listening for easily ten years now, here's to ten more
"I'll go mental." x
The story of the woman buried alive isn't from Tales of the Unexpected, it's "Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Final Escape"
Don't mind me - I'm just saving my favourite moments from each episode for my next round trip 2:30
that should be interesting for meatballs
awwww, Karl giggling at 11:43... must be in the double digits now, and I've never heard that before. I love these shows
One of the immortal episodes. You could click almost anywhere on the video and hear a possible alternative title within 10 seconds - just about every line is a gem. I'm going to go slightly off the beaten track, away from the meatballs and the horses, and suggest either "Baggariddim" or "It Was The Tree That Did It".
25:02 I love the Guns N Roses story from Steve. I seem to encounter these types of people far too much in life. So relatable.
From 41.00 this is just laugh after laugh and some of the best chat I’ve ever heard! Imagine one of your mates talking about his past and coming up with this.
This episode should be called "Karl Pickleton."
35:45 One of Steve's best fake laughs: "Oooo hooo hooo hooo hooo, ha ha ha, he he"
Steve’s authentic laugh is a quiet “huh, huh, huh,” that isn’t very audible.
If she could come in and sit and in the corner, it would be the best time ever... She might be listening"
50:49 "awwwww christ...haaahahahaaa" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man was literally dying here 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The picture mentioned at 4:30 www.diomedia.com/stock-photo-left-to-right-stephen-merchant-and-ricky-gervais-british-actors-and-karl-pilkington-british-radio-producer-attending-the-2002-sony-radio-academy-awards-in-london-compulsory-credit-uppaphot-image17480158.html
Was Merchant trying to look shorter by sticking his leg out to the side? XD
the horror story is called Final escape, from 1984. the final scene is on CZcams
I love that Eric and Ernie are in Sesame Street, according to Steve. Never noticed that before. I hear things I previously missed every time I listen to these.
Steven was on the “Inside of you with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast and said that the moment he and Ricky realized Karl was a comedy genius and they were going to work with him long term was the moment Karl talks about the horse in the living room without realizing this was the interesting part of the story!
Square tins aside I forgot how many other golden bits this episode has.
"Why am I just feeding a baby cheese?"
and
"It used to chase cars."
"just check out the face" "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" gets me every time XD
I've heard these so many times but only really *heard* Steve's cheese line at 56:30 and its floored me. Even gets a laugh from Karl.
"RIGHT! 08700... We'll give you a prize if you know what the... Karl is talking about" 😂😂😂😂
2021
An this is still the greatest radio ever
So good.... 😂✌
“Ask them where to buy meths cheap, straight to the phones!” Ahhhh kills me everytime
The meatballs part is honestly one of the greatest parts of any of these episodes. Fucking brilliant.
Horse in the house has always been one of my fav moments. Comedy gold
That's not cheese...
5:44 Little fella 😂 definitely a top 5 episode.
Ahhhhh the legendary "horse in the house" episode 😅😅😅
This is definitely the best episode
@@brownayy Don't worry about it. He's just a troll who has been going around everyone's comments and being a joyless so and so, either on purpose or clearly not getting why people find things funny.
One of the best shows. Bloody good one that
Even though I’ve listen to these episodes nonstop at least once or twice a week for hours for at least 10 years, as soon as I hear the white van Karl question what do you think about cloning children I get giddy and excited!
43:04 I love how Karl breaks down a bit and starts laughing :D
The ending is superb 😂. Ricky having a go at Neil Armstrong for mucking up his line (because he’s not “BAFTA NOMINATEEEED), but then seconds later messing up the perfume quote himself..😂
Ricky: what d'you mean he was born without a brain?
Karl: he was born without a brain
"White van man...Karl"😁
I love that Ricky loves good cheeses, wonder what he’s snacking on these days probably nicer cheese and drink ;D
“Your girlfriends away, Karl!”
“The cheese graters only under the cupboard.”
OOhooHooo now she’s a good lookin lady
This is a benchmark episode
Saw the title of the video and IMMEDIATELY knew it was the famous horse in the house 😂😂
"Like a horse with blinkers on" 😂
Karls groan at 10.02 is epic❤️
The podcasts are good
Xfm seasons 2-4 are better
But xfm season 1 is just gold dust. Everything was natural and as much as we all love Karl's features from season 2 onwards there is something so magic about them just talking about stuff like urban legends and tales of unexpected
Absolutely. And Karl was still respected "were only joking karl" "we love you karl" and he genuinely enjoyed it and laughed most season 1 episodes.
The thing around 3.50 Ricky said about being in a foreign country. You just point, talk perfect english a bit louder and if they still don't understand, smash the place up, go mental. He used that exact joke 6 years later on a stand up show called "Animals"Nothing important just something I picked up.
+johgus96 Not trying to be funny or anything, but Ricky performed his stand up show 'Animals' in 2003.
Like Stephen said in a later season 'well you probably heard most of the stand up observations on this show already.'
there's been a few gags in this that ended up in his stand up shows. There was the one about holding a midget at arms length and kicking him in the balls. there was a few others but I can't remember them.
@@benparker6497 Pretty sure he does the Derek character impression in one episode
The comment section on these uploads are great, love the community
4:30 “we made Karl get in the picture and he was a bit, retison..ehinbut-hicuutnice”
Listening to this after the queen just died is surreal
Keep em coming man! Thank you for sharing
This episode should be broadcast into space, or put on a rocket like the Voyager golden record
"A guy threw a punch at me -- I punched him back, knocked him square out!"
That guy...was never in a mosh pit.
Definitely not, especially considering he thinks that seeing UB40 live is the epitome of all concerts.
