For those who may be confused this is NOT the 100 Syllable Vajrasattva Mantra, it is the 100 Syllable Heruka-Vajrasattva Mantra. The yoga method of Heruka Vajrasattva has the power to purify negative energy.

Vajrasattva - a comprehensive introductory teaching
( Vajrasattva is the more general form of Heruka Vajrasattva, which HH Sakya Trizin recites here. )
Vajrasattva is central and primary in the esoteric tantras of all Buddhist lineages and practices. Vajrasattva is a primary means of purification on all levels and is a "sarva siddhi" ( all-accomplishing ) mantra useful for all purposes.
Esoteric ( tantric ) Buddhists take initiation and complete one hundred thousand long recitations of the Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable mantra as a basic requirement, for which see the following article and the classical pronunciation below.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vajrasattva
Vajrasattva is the source of the Kalacakra teachings, the Great Sun Buddha teachings ( Mahavairocana Buddha, Japanese Shingon ), and Great Perfection ( Dzogchen primordial awareness ) teachings and practices.

"can you tell me for what is working this mantra?"
      ____________________________________
The Hundred Syllable Vajrasattva mantra is one of the key mantras in tantric Buddhism.
It is not found not authorized in the general Mahayana teaching.
      This mantra requires tantric empowerment.
It is primarily understood to be a mantra of profound purification, but is much more than that.
The hundred syllables represent the Hundred Buddha Families, including the Five Buddha Families, the Eight Bodhisattvas and so forth.
In terms of the mandala of deities, Vajrasattva can represent the East, the Vajra family.
However, Vajrasattva is more accurately the Sixth of the Five Buddha Families, the totality of the mandala.
Vajrasattva is the source of many of the most important transmissions, such as Bardo, and Kalacakra, and Vajrakilaya.
The basic protector aspect of Vajrasattva is Vajrapani, and a high protector aspect is Vajrakilaya.
The seed syllable of Vajrasattva is typically blue HUM, but can also be white AH.
The sacred implements of Vajrasattva are the Scepter and Bell ( Vajra and Ghanta ), which stand for Power and Wisdom, also male and female.
Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable Mantra is found in many Highest Yoga Tantra practice texts towards the end of the practice, as a means of purifying mistakes in the practice.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the Hundred Syllable mantra is usually recited 100,000 times as a preliminary practice.
It is sometimes recited 200,000 times.
The Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable Mantra is a Sarva Siddhi mantra, which means it accomplishes all activities.
These are the magical activities of Purification, Enrichment, Magnetization, and All Accomplishing Power.
The Hundred Syllable Mantra also represents the Completion Stage Process ( energy yoga ) of the Four Joys.
There are in fact numerous forms of the Hundred Syllable Mantra.
The most well known alternative form is the Vajra Heruka mantra, but there are many others.
Sometimes the Hundred Syllable mantra is extended, for example by adding the syllables HUM PHAT.
Vajrasattva may appear alone, or alternatively with the female consort Vajra Garvi.
In all cases there are five Vajrasattvas, one for each of the Five Buddha Families.
As a tantric Buddhist guru, this is one of the two main mantra practices I emphasize.
Getting a high Vajrasattva empowerment is crucially important in tantra.
A high Vajrasattva empowerment includes high authorizations for Manjusri, Avalokitesvara, Vajrapani, and so forth.
This authorization can be obtained many ways, such as with transmission of Bardo, Kalacakra, Vajrakilaya, Milarepa, Padmasambhava, Cakrasamvara, Vajrayogini, and so forth.
Vajrasattva practice covers all the practice vows of all these deities.
Vajrasattva is also included in the Great Perfection Breakthru, the Dzogchen Trekcho.
Vajrasattva is a major part of Dzogchen lineage and practice, because the Great Perfection teacher Garab Dorje is a manifestation of Vajrasattva.
May All Beings Benefit! May There Be Accomplishment!
      Sarva mangalam! Siddhi rastu!

Becomming Vajrasattva by Lama Thubten Yeshe is also recommended Ps. Vajrasattva tantra can be practiced without empowerment as the practice gives the empowerment for the practice, its unique in this as far as im aware, however it is best to get empowerment from your guru.

This mantra is written in the Tibetan Book of the Dead by Robert Thurman, chapter 7 entitled The Dharma Practice, Natural Liberation of Practice. It's under the heading Enlightening, Protecting and Purifying..
I've tried reading along with HH Sakya Trizin but I keep getting lost in my own pronunciation of the English translation.. Oh well..

Buddhism started as a derivation of hinduism, the sacred language is still sanskrit or pali, both indoaryan.. Then Budhism in Tibet sinthesized with shamanic tibetan religions, and in China with Daoism, creating Vajrayana and Chan, both branches theistic, as Tibetan old religions and Taoism. Beautiful and precious jewels all these traditions.

The Heruka 100 syllable mantra (as heard here) is recited during the Heruka / Chakrasamvara tantric rituals (sadhanas) to purify any errors made during the practice of that ritual. Other Highest Yoga Tantra Class practices use the 100 syllable mantra with the name of their specific tantric diety inserted instead of BENZA SATO or Vajrasattva. BENZO SATO is the way Tibetans pronounce the name of Vajrasattva. The form you were given, is the one that is used by both lay and monastic Buddhists for purification of bad karma. It is commonly recited at least 21 times a day, even as part of longer Highest Yoga Tantric Practices like Heruka etc that also use the altered mantra for purification of errors. Highest Yoga Tantra Practices are reserved for those who have received initiation from a qualified Lama.

I listen to this HH Sakya's 100 mantra every morning. Benz;a and Vadra should be the same, right? Most Tibetan will pronounce Benza. However, in most mantras in English version will use Vadra. Can anyone enlighten a little?

    • @vajkosd
      @vajkosd Před 4 lety +2

Yeah Benza or Benzar is the Tibetan word for the Sanskrit Vajra, which means lightening bolt and also indestructible diamond :) Most of the teachings these days, including the works the Dalai Lama publishes now have the 'original' Sanskrit form of the mantras. The original Buddhist sacred works and mantras were composed in Pali, the language that Buddha spoke and taught in. Then Buddhism spread through all India and the Pali Cannon of teachings was translated into the Sanskrit language, and it was used to write all the new mantras and Tantras that were developed, and also transmitted from the Buddhas and other spirit beings to humans. So the mantras and teachings first entered Tibet from India in their Sanskrit form, but then were translated into Tibetan and practiced in Tibetan for a thousand or so years and do both forms are good and empowered fully. So most teachers will tell you you can choose the form of the mantra you like best and feels right for you.
