What is the difference between making the statement before this game or after it, there will always be another game the follows the statement being made and it was made at a time too late for the team to see it. And what is Redknapp talking about in his tone laced with hatred and jealousy claiming he knows for sure it was Sterling, not his management that initiated the statement. All Sterling had was a poor patch last season like Mbappe had a poor patch at the Euros, but most of the season he was fine with a return of 8 goals and 8 assists, or a significant contribution in 16 goal's, being the reason Chelsea won in 2 of their last 3 games which is ok, but because of his high standards and quality he is his toughest critic and will demand more from himself. Don't forget Sterling was the reason Chelsea did not lose 5 games against teams at the top of the table and when he did not play Chelsea lost against a Liverpool team of teenagers and an exhausted Man City team. In fact Chelsea lost every game against the top 4 teams last season when Sterling was not playing, so statistically he should be the first name on the team sheet against the top teams. And who in that Chelsea team did not have a poor patch, and don't say Cole Palmer because take away the two games he scored a hat-trick and all he did in the remaining 36 games in the season is score penalties which he is given the privilege of taking and someone else could have taken with the same result. After all he has done in his career which Redknapp cannot claim even 10 percent of, Sterling deserves respect, not just from Chelsea, but from pundits like Redknapp who are not fit to tie his laces when it comes to quality as a player and what he has achieved. We are talking about the highest scoring winger in Premier League history, if you exclude penalties and the player who almost singlehandedly dragged England to our first final in over half a century giving the England team we have today the self-belief of winners and a factually based confidence to believe winning a competition is possible unlike our delude past when we were not even close to doing it but thought we could. He is already an England legend for doing for the team what other England players the media praise so highly failed to do and he was able to do it because of the quality he has and is as a player that the media work so hard to hide from the public in a deluge of negativity they try to bury his achievements and obvious quality as one of the most influential wingers in having changed the expectations of wingers in modern day football to be players expected to compete with strikers in the number of goals they score. Redknapp's contribution to, intelligence and knowledge of football is pitiful compared to Sterling and he has no right to speak so disrespectfully about him and pedal lies, such as his claims that Sterling initiated the statement his management put out that may even be racially motivated so far off the scale and away way from factually based reality his comment is. 40 something outfield players... So large a squad that for training they're divided into two groups .... Let's call them 'A' and 'B'. Group 'A' are part of the managers plans and presumably in Matchday squads. Group 'B' are for the most part surplus to requirements and Chelsea want to offload sharpish. Shambles.

Goes to Chelsea which I think was such a weird choice, and if you really dissect his performances, was he really that bad? I’ve seen games where he was the only shinning light in games (along side Palma) ghosting past players setting up goals but then pundits say he played awful, he really didn’t.
