Issues with damp that extensive can't be a new problem of which the owners/management agency weren't already aware existed. If there were no visible signs when you inspected the home prior to leasing, it simply means it was deliberately covered over. Unless or until the root causes are discovered and properly repaired ( foundation, roof leaks ect.), it will be never ending. And please keep in mind, for any surface you've seen with damp and/or mold, there is SIGNIFICANTLY more mold that exists behind the wall that's not visible. Scrapeing and repainting the surface is nothing more than a cosmetic "fix". You need to ask the owners to hire an angency to test the interior air for mold content or hire one yourself. This quite possibly could turn out to be an incredibly unhealthy environment for you all. It needs to be tested to be sure whether or not it's safe for habitation.

I know you don't want to, but you really need to get out of there asap especially if there's that much mold in ur house... That is extremely dangerous to breathe especially having asthma...I know all this from experience... Good luck to you, I know it's hard but try to stay positive. My fiance is a contractor---said if it's only when it rains, you need a new roof. If it stays damp at all times, it is likely leaking pipes (could be the size of a pinhole even). After you find and fix the source, you need to spray bleach on the mold to kill it and then run a dehumidifier to get rid of the excess remaining moisture. Also if your home isn't insulated well enough, it could be hot outside cold inside causing condensation to form. I hope this helps! Sending good luck from Tennessee ❤ Y'all got this!

My husband is a maintenance engineer and he suggests the following:
    1. The fireplace appears to be rising damp or a simple leak from the chimney.
    2. In the bedrooms, that is more than likely condensation. This can be solved by ventilating the room ie open the window or buy a dehumidifier.
    3. If you have a humidifier in the house get rid of it. Limit any damp clothes that you dry in the home to minimise moisture levels.

Hi loves! I had damp in my house early this year. Couple things:
If you’re worried about health get a blood toxicology test done a PCP (your normal doctor) can order it for you.
As for the problem…look at your roof. All the locations you showed would have foundational joints that reach the roof. The attic or head space should really be checked. It was a 8k dollar fix for us, but we essentially ended out with a new roof. You should normally treat the molded spaces with bleach and after it dries out use a sealant paint meant for areas with high humidity (hopefully that’s the paint they used for you)

I grew up in a old farm house with no heating except coal fires (was the 90's), we use to frequently have mould growing. Was caused by humidity/warmth with no ventilation. Id' suggest you look into dehumidifiers, maybe even a couple for the size of your home and increase airflow through your home.
Your dermatitis will be made worse from the black mould along with causing any cold like illness (like you mentioned) along with the potential of triggering an asthma attack.
You really need to get in touch with the landlord - not safe for any of you three!

Old houses are known for damp and mold because people plaster over with non breathable materials and paints. The best plaster to use is lime plaster as it let the building breathe. However if the whole house is plastered and you don’t have the time or money to replaster it you can only treat it (unless the root problem is a leak or drainage issue). To manage it use dehumidifier in each room on a rotation bases with windows and doors closed. When you rent using a dehumidifier you need to keep keep rooms ventilated and make sure furniture isn’t pushed up against walls as that will ‘trap’ the air and cause build up of moisture resulting in more mold. Spray mold services with white vinegar and wipe I don’t recommend cleaning products as that will make asthma bad (from my experience). If you get any condensation on windows buy a window vac and vacuum the condensation every morning or when you notice build up this will then reduce the moisture in the air reducing damp and mold. I’m from Cornwall and we live with mold and damp in our houses constantly because of the old buildings and wet environment. But if you have the time and money and you really don’t want to move I’d highly suggest researching lime plaster as an alternative depending on what your walls are made from 😊

Conor and Liana, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't know what kind of protections renters have in the UK, but the rodent feces, mold and damp should be taken VERY seriously. Document everything, including your eczema, the colds/flu, all of it. Your landlord misrepresented the property as being fit to live in, and you should explore your options as soon as you're feeling well enough to pursue it. The whole situation is absolutely awful, but your health is the most important thing. I hope you're all feeling better soon.

I loved the vlog because it was so real and relatable, especially the bit where you were all making cookies and Koazy was trying to eat the cookie dough, my boy would be doing the same! Other than that, I know you all are having a bad time but remember that life has its ups and downs. If it weren't for the bad times you wouldn't be able to appreciate the good times. One last one is that laughter is the best medicine. Take care all, looking forward to the next vid! Xx

Stay strong Liana! We're fighting toothing pain since our lil girl started toothing with 8 Months... she's now 1 year old... there are days when she doesn't eat properly, she didn't sleep proper in months, days when she's an absolute sunshine and days when we're so damn worried that we could cry all day long. Aweful times like these won't stay forever, stay strong, try to be positive for your lil man and conor and yeah... life hits hard sometimes... we're all going through these times... i try to remember, that it could be worse. It's just a small comfort but... i'm so thankful that we don't live in poverty or war...

Wishing you all well, and get onto those crooks who sold you a dodgy moldy house, let the lawyers deal with them and everything that needs to be done because it's not worth the stress for you both. Keep smiling because no matter what you have such a beautiful family💜

You are so strong and your emotions are valid and justified. Bad luck sucks (I have it too). Hopefully you are getting all the bad luck done so next year can be friggin fabulous. That's what I tell myself. (Even if I doubt it. As you said no expectations means less disappointment.)
Also, be careful with mouse or rat poop and wee as it can cause the sickness bug that is really intense if it comes into contact with food or even drink or anything that could potentially be put in your mouth. I dislike killing things but for the health and safety of your family it may be a good idea to talk to an exterminator, they can go through the place and give great tips and tricks and sort a lot of the issue out for you.
Hope you guys are feeling better.
You guys are so real about what it is like being an adult. Also you reminded me of so many things I need to get done. 😅

I can't tell you both how nice it is that your sharing this difficult part of your life, you both are making me and my husband feel alot better about our new house, nothing but issues since we moved in, first it was the bath tub leaking into our bedroom, and then the roof Wich caused the drywall and wood to mould on our ceiling in the bedroom, needless to say we haven't had a bedroom for about 4 months now, it's been really difficult 😭 but I'm happy were not the only ones, and I love that you both call it "damp", I hope everything gets sorted for you all, and I hope these issues don't cause further health issues for you all.

I just found your videos today, my life is filled with the same hardships as well. It seems like my time and effort in life is filled with research and hard work to try and fix the problem (most hardly work) cause i cant afford to pay someone else to fix the problems. Just wanted to say stay strong and know that you have a very important purpose in this life. Dont give up and dont give up on each other either. When we have a great purpose we have to go through things it seems most people couldnt handle even a few of those problems. Push through it cause at the end you will understand why and never change a thing

The damp could be condensation mould. My house get it's really bad. Best thing you can probably do is get some paint that is mould resistant, it's usually really expensive. Also another thing you can do is open windows first time ever so slightly to clear out the condensation

Tip for the syrup because my dad uses the same brand, but hazelnut; use about a cap full, or just over a teaspoon to the mug first and then add the coffee because it mixes the syrup in easier because you dont need to mix it with a spoon. It's like when you make a glass of squash, you tend to add the squash first and then the water.
If you see this your welcome ❤

Life really does have a way of kncocking you down at what seems to be all the time. It happens to us too. If you write down every night all the good things that happened in that day...even small things...it really does help you to see that tings can make you smile in some tough times. I've also learnt to stop thinking it could be worse because in that moment it is your worse and you have every right to feel how you do. Take care all of you and get yourselves on top again.
