However, many people feel emotionally & historically connected with this city. Also, they have heard many stories from their parent's & grandparents about how well they were getting along with the turkish people, before they got exported (actually there are still many greeks alive that were originally borned and raised there).
Obviously, the guy that called it "our city" didn't mean it in that way. But he doesn't represent more than 5% of the greek people.
Olympiacos was built by Asia Minor refugees who lived in the first years after the persecution of 1922 in shantytowns in Piraeus, Nikaia, Palia Kokkinia, Drapetsona, Keratsini, and the rest of the areas around the port. They are the favorite team of the whole of Greece. Its football field has the name of our chieftain who liberated our lands, Georgios Karaiskakis. His symbol is the Ancient Greek Laureate Teenager. Olympiakos, because it is made of refugees, is Steel and never bends.
