I guess, but the product is a lot cheaper for WOTC to send than a cash price of $250 would be.
Product is super cheap for Wizards to make, also most people who sign up for this event end up forfeiting their gems, effectively taking their money and causing them to buy more
Not to mention that it’s a limited time event, and good promotion for Wizards and MH3
It is done because it is a net gain for them. This is unranked as well which means that people with play experience are facing people without. Do you wonder why they go with win 6 before losing 2, instead of win 7 before 3 losses? They math it out to always come on top.

is it just me or does the card/color distribution in this set feel extra weird? sometimes I get pools with a million tri lands, sometimes only like 2-3, sometimes I get only 4-5 cards in a certain color, and so on. usually I feel like regular sealed pools are more balanced than in this set but maybe im just imagening it.
I don't think you are imagining it, especially for the trilands. As I understand, they're at the common slot, but could also replace the basic land. There are 80 commons in the set of which 10 are landscapes, which means you should see them relatively frequently (the proportion is lower than the cluestones in dragon's maze, if you remember that debacle). But there's also the fact that the number of commons you get varies wildly from pool to pool also, with only 6 guaranteed commons - the net result of all this is sometimes you get packs with three or even four landscapes, and other times you'll get packs with none at all.
On paper MH3 has been the most balanced set I opened since play boosters were a thing, so that may be an Arena issue.

No, they would each get one counter. It would be worded "put a counter on each card named ___" in your example.

If everyone is in their prime, then yes its 92. If its everyone as where they were in the Olympics its 96 and not close.
Barkley, Malone, Stokton, Pippen, and Robinson were better in 96 than they were in 92. They have the best collection of bigs ever with Robinson, Hakeem, and Shaq. Outside of MJ, Kobe, and Bron, ill take every other player in 96 over their counterparts. Miller, Richmond, prime Hill and Penny, and Payton.
