I met Chris at San Jose City College in 1979. We started the same year and when he took his first solo in Jazz Improv, everybody's jaw dropped and he continued to blow minds whenever he played. I went to his house once to jam and his room was plastered with posters of his heros. His mom made us some "snacks" at his request. He would go see Robben Ford play and record his shows and learn his licks from the tapes. He'd always be talking about his "Robben tapes". Chris is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Humble, unassuming and a king of the blues but what most don't know about him is that he can play ANYTHING.
I was at San Jose City College as well. He played on a song i wrote. We performed it at a composition recital. Great memories. Chris is just as awesome now as he was back then.
VERY fine evaluation, Mr. Funky, very well done all the way up and down the player and person ... good job. Chris is sort of a white BB King / Albert King. These kinds of guys pretty much get up in the morning playing a guitar and fall asleep with it across their chest when they finally crash. Just found out about him this Wednesday, 4 March and glad I did. So nice to hear a player who can play clean, this melodic and passionately. I personally have been playing 58 years, so's I knows what I'se talkin' about!
Absolute best guitar player on the Planet ! If you look up the word " BLUES " in the dictionary you will see a Picture of Chris Cain !! So authentic , but still being original , he can blow anybody else off the stage by opening his guitar case ! The best Blues guitar player I have ever heard , I am a guitar player , and playing in Blues bands since 1963 . 71 years old now , and hoping I can get a chance to see Chris before I die !! Thank God for youtube , or I might never have heard of him ! Have been a fanboy of his for the last several years !
Chris is an absolutely beast on guitar alongside The mighty Stevie Ray Vaughan , I saw SRV with Albert King , BB King , and Clapton , what a show without disrespecting anybody in this amazing lineup , and yes I am also a blues rock guitar player , SRV just smoked , at one point they were all just watching SRV just blow the lid off , I say all these things because I think Chris is equally a beast and can stand next to any of those blues players awesome playing 👍👍
Absolutely true! he has a level of authenticity that is hard to come by, but at the same time completely sounds like himself. He also plays in such an effortless manner with pure joy.
Chris' phrasing is actually so good I can't help but smile and laugh with joy when I hear it. It's like he predicts what my ears desperately want to hear, and not only plays it, but plays it 10 times better than what I could hope for. Just pure talent.
I just discovered Chris Cain about a year ago and I feel like I’ve been completely cheated. It’s insane that he’s not mentioned in every great blues guitarist conversation.
Man I'm saving up for a 335 right now & hearing that tone & his playing is making me want to go guitar shopping tomorrow & just bite the bullet. Ramen noodles ain't all that bad & my kids love them too what could go wrong!! Lol
So professional and so damn smooth! He’s 100% the real deal no ego just sweet sweet music. And excellent interaction with the band! I knew some good would come out of watching those Norm videos! A Yayy man yell is what you get! I’m going to school.
Top man! Very under rated and fairly unknown for the level of his talent he should be a Global "Name" not just among those of us who love the blues and also even I only came across his music a couple of years ago as he's not that known in England just I'm a massive blues fan and all over YT all through lockdowns! (Even saw an old Back stage documentary type film of him back in the 80s or early 90s I think he has a moustache and looked like Ross out of friends "When he was I to his music"!) Chugging beers like water then went out on stage and slayed it out in Australia! Lol seriously great guy, seems proper nice fella and genuine from everything I've watched and that's a lot now tbh and he seem the kidnof guy that just eat breathes lives and sleeps guitar his whole love it's an extension of him! (I'm sure I saw him play drums and bass on one video unless I'm mistaking him for someone else!?) He's great when he pays some of the duet gigs he's done at Buddy Guys club and that top club in Maui (name slips my mind Sugar Mill I think?) Bit he's just sublime the way he can okay ANYTHING with anyone just jam and slip seamlessly from playing singing lead to rhythm and back n forth and really add to the sound not just fill gaps but add to the other guys playing it's great to watch! Cheers from London England 😎👍🏴🇬🇧🎸
I have heard Chris Cain with the great Argentinian blues man Rafael Nasta in a whole awesome concert. Some of the best blues, I've heard in my entire life.
@@miccops0073 Well that sounds very reasonable but that is what we all do. It's the others that always get the headlines. SRV was great but quite predictable and the other 2 are just copies in my opinion.
@@hesch-tag Well man everybody has an opinion for everything you know hahaha, I think that the commitment of a guitar player ( blues player,etc...) is to transmit something to the audience. SRV can be predictable sometimes because everybody has stolen some of his licks and has tried to play like him, but he always makes you feel it, BB king is also predictable most of the time but he drops jaws you know hahahah. About Sayce and Shepherd I totally agree hahahaha, Peace and Love brother❤️
The most stunning thing is that Chris plays what he feels, how he wants , when he wants, all over the neck in a unpredictable way. To say the truth, he is not a shredder, he just plays the right notes at the right moment, thats what blues is all about.....he does whatever he wants with the guitar....this guy plays too much 🤦

pro tip: you can watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
@Aydin Ira Definitely, I have been using flixzone} for since december myself =)
The blues is the music of the soul and the feeling. Genial Chris Cain, thanks you!

Deserves much recognition

How is Chris Cain not a household name! Great tone, great voice and great playing. I have only just stumbled across him. Whole band are excellent.
Agreed. Should be household name. Skill, soul, joy, the lot. Fabulous player
Just discovered Chris Cain and I can’t agree with you more
Wow what feel he has just love it !
Fantastic guitar player. But not só good voice.
...because sounds too much like BB and Albert rolled into one!
Me too
A very very special man indeed !

Not only is Chris an amazing player but that backup band is just spot on! Kudos to all.
What a pleasure, thank you Chris Cane our brother !
Chris sure scored a great band in Moscow. Blues is truly the universal language.

brilliant musician and a real character
What a tone 👍
Love Chris Cain. Really good band who obviously did their homework. Convincing Hammond, nice deep snare, solid Bass.
I thought I would die without hearing music like this.
ONe of the greatest guitar players out there....
A true Blues Master. Very good line up. Thanks for the video.
Thanks to Shane from in the blues for singing Chris’s praises - ❤ - and leading me here - this music/ playing is pure joy
Большое спасибо за то, что приняли у себя одного из наших замечательных талантов!
Great entertainer
Superb, I feel a Chris Cain player focus lesson coming on...
Класс!👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏
Chris and the whole band are on point! Excellent players!
I discovered "Unscheduled Flight" when I was presenting a blues radio show in Australia. That album got a lot of airplay on my show!
Mr. C.C. is a bad man on that guitar!!! He can play that "THANG"!!!!!
Wow Band !!°°Thank You

Damn he's so talented!
Really nails the 3 King's, especially Albert. Vocally I've never heard a white guy get that close to sounding like BB... great stuff!
Chris is half black as well as greek
One of the greats!Thanks

Chris play here 2015 in Argentina, is a live legend of Blues, great improvisation better than most.

Un capo,,,fraseo perfecto , incluso ideas jazzy
So much more variety in choice of notes than SRV, Sayce and KWS.

excellent music!!! Did anyone notice the drummer's face? 19:10 jaja
Chris Cain, excellent, as allways. Who is the bass player? Its very good. Great band, indeed.

Who is the Keyboard player? He is incredible
@1:35:37 - Why was he playing "Jingle Bells" in the month of September?
Whats hes gear im seen only like a tweed amp? What amp is that and no pedals?
Que publicó más tibio, acá en Argentina somos más eufóricos
The son of B.B.King ..! good.!
Hey Gibson! Time for a signature guitar.
And look the piano player. Realy play hammond tecnics.
That lick at 10:28 into the video!! OMG....so cool. Sounded like Popeye theme?
amazing..is the band Russian ?
That lady on bass forgot to turn on her Amp...🤔
I like Fonzi better as a guitar player, than as an actor
Looks like a Fender Blues Jr. amp
Anyone know if that is a vintage guitar or a newer one? Good player tho

He should team up with John Mayall
Drummer is a Chilli peppers fan lol
Am I the only one that sees 23:20 ? like my comment if you get why.
What happened ?
His use of dynamics is so old school and sorely lacking in modern player circles, sadly. Music needs to breathe. Chris dies thus masterfully!
I like the dude but his similarity in voice tones to BB King just turns me off.
It's not fair to interrupt a slow blues solo with trash spot. Go to hell !
WOW!
