I ordered a new Fossil bag to replace one I’ve used for prob 10 years that an inside zipper that had broken. I was very disappointed with quality so I pulled out my old one, researched and fixed zipper, cleaned thoroughly and maybe use another 10 years. I found the old one in charity shop for $10 and totally abused it but it cleaned up like new. I don’t mind paying for quality, although love it when I find quality in thrift store.

I thought all Kipling bags came with a keychain anchor clip strap sewn into the interior of the bag. I prefer a light coloured interior so i can easily find my stuff. Good video.
That's an authentic Kipling bag. The various changes mentioned are true to Kipling including the hard plastic Kipling logo vs. rubber, the paper clip-looking zipper pulls, etc. Some of the bags are made out of a softer-feeling nylon vs. the sturdier polyamide fabric. New Kipling Bags are made from recycled fabric now, not the old nylon. Unless you buy the dupes from China which judging by the photos seem to still be made from the crinkly nylon. I have a Defea in Fresh Floral and I'm happy that it's the genuine article. I'm a little miffed that the new ones are made in China though. They used to be made in Cambodia. All of this outsourcing business is very confusing and I can't blame you for wondering if you've picked up a fake. Thanks for your review, it never hurts to be vigilant I say.

I live in Western Australia and was hunting around for reviews as I am looking to purchase a new Kipling bag for travel. My only option is to purchase online. If I remember correctly my first Kipling bag was the Defea purchased in the late 1990s, (It was a great bag for carry around all the stuff you need when you have a young child - I passed it on many years ago). The new Defea was a consideration this time , but it is smaller than the original and slightly different. Over the years I have purchased Kilping bags from Amazon, from the Kipling online stores, from Strandbags Perth (who no longer carry the brand) from a shop in Vienna and in store in Indonesia. I currently have 6 Kiplings bags that are an assortment of sizes and shapes. I know that companies get products made in different countries, so that is not the issue and I had read in comments that others have said the bag is genuine, but like you, I have concerns. Out of curiosity I have just inspected each one of my bags and the workmanship is perfect. The issue you rightly pointed out is about quality control. Even if this is a 'genuine' Kipling, I would be returning it because of the poor workmanship you have pointed out. Best wishes and thanks again for the vidoe

I bought the exact Jade bag at Marshall’s last year to use on an overseas vacation to Norway. The bag was perfect for traveling and held way more than I thought. It’s lightweight and repelled rain. I love it. The lining in my bag is beige though and not white. I suspect the green and white bag is a cheap made in China copy fake. I’d send it back.
Glad you like your Jade one. I just used mine today and it seemed good for my quick trip to the dentist. 😁 Hopefully more adventures like yours await. They do amaze me on how much they can hold. I did send the bag back and left a review on Amazon. Hopefully it will help someone.
It seems like a knock off to me, on the inside label, it doesn't have the monkey like the real one. There would be no excuse in Kippling lowering their standard to that level.
You gotta be careful with Amazon, too. I ordered legos as Christmas gifts for my two boys and Amazon left them on my door with the shipping label stuck to the outside of the LEGO box. No Amazon box, no white envelope. Just the legos pulled straight off the shelf, sticker slapped on and mailed. It could have been stolen off my step. My boys might have gotten to it before me, ruining the surprise. Plus, they ruined the boxes with the stickers if I had needed to return it or if my boys wanted the resell in the future! Ok, I’m done. Have a wonderful day! 😁

Replica/imitations fashion items had been around the market for countless decades. And these replica manufacturers aren't even afraid of being caught. The printed bag stitching was definitely terrible. Would be super disappointed if it's authentic because Kipling bags are not cheap, even if Kipling outsource to china, don't make your bags look cheap. Kipling should keep up to their standard(quality & workmanship). If the workmanship was poor, consumers will not come back for more items. Actually thought of getting a pouch, saw the picture from their official online store, was shocked that the stitching inside the bag was terrible and it really looks exactly like your printed bag. Need to go to their retail shop to get a closer look. Anyway thank you for your video.

I am watching a video now of an unboxing of a new kippling back pack, and hers arrived in a box, and the plastic bag it was in inside the box had a circular kippling label on the plastic with the other writing.
I have the Kipling Gabbie Mini bag in Fresh Floral. So same fabric pattern, different silhouette. So when I came across your video I got curious... 😉 I actually paused the video to go get my bag... 🤣 Same zipper pulls, and I also have other bags with those pulls. Same logo plate, squares around the edge, not circles. Makes the same sound when you tap on it... Same monkey charm. I don't like the rubber monkeys, so I use other charms on the bags that have those. Gray lining, like on yours. I think your bag is real, they just didn't think the sloppy finishing around the zipper was enough to take the bag out of "circulation"... I think my bag is a quality product, no issues with any seems or finishings. Did you keep the bag, or did you return it ?
I did end up returning it but I like the green one and kept it. That’s fun to hear that you compared yours with mine on the video. ☺️ I’m generally getting the idea from others that the floral one is genuine… but I guess I just prefer the “older” style. Thanks for commenting!
I'm not an expert but the first thing i noticed that looked odd was the logo. I checked the seams on my kipling which are covered by a flap as well they are finished. Also my kipling was made in Cambodia not China.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and impressions on this. It is interesting to hear the seams in yours were finished, even under the flap. I kept trying to notice that when other people on CZcams show their Kiplings, but they never seem to show much detail, just here’s a pocket , there’s a pocket, etc. and never any close ups on the construction of them. Others have said it’s not a fake yet the quality seems so lacking to me on the floral one. 🤷🏻♀️
I also have the single stitch and raw edge inside, however my patch is rubber and I don’t have those metal tabs on the bottom of my front zipper pulls. My fabric is crinkly nylon like your solid bag. It was made in Singapore. I wonder if manufacturing location makes any difference. I do love this bag! Hope that helps!
It’s real, Kipling uses different fabrications of polyester and nylon on their bags now.

I have many Kipling bags and I can assure you that your bags are real. Kipling uses different materials depending on the model and color

The floral is definitely suspect. I can't imagine Kipling would manufacture a bag with the raw edges exposed inside. That looks like a knockoff.
It looks really fishy to me too… just seems lacking in quality.
