    Thanks for another good review👍🏻I’ve got too many shoes to buy any more ‘daily’ types. I am always swapping and changing and my more warn out premium shoes can do well at more normal paces. Currently the NB RC Elite is nice and bouncy for long runs etc and can still pick up the pace.

    Always fun to drop by and see your current reviews. Haven't experienced any of the 1080 series. My NB shoe is the More V3. I like responsive daily trainers so my ticket is still my Novoblast 2's :-)

    Just got these 2 days ago. Had to also size down. However, not working for me. Did short 1 mile and 2 mile and seemed comfortable as they felt real comfortable in the NB store. However, after wearing a few hours in car and around home, very, very uncomfortable on top of my toes. I have enlarged big toe joints (similar to people with bunions), but I don’t have bunions. I have arthritis damage and bone that grew over top of the joints so my big toes cannot flex back. Too much pressure against my big toe joints causing me lot of discomfort. I tried lacing a different way to help take some pressure off. I have insteps also and need to keep laces a little loose. Tried a 8-9 mile session and got serious blister in middle of the ball of my left foot (at 3rd metatarsal). Much pain to put weight in foot now. Caused milder pain under ball of right foot. Started blister under right little toe also. No problem with heel slip. The pointed toe box shape also caused me to have pain at upper, inner sides of both big toes bumping against shoe, especially on down hills. So, these just do not seem to be working for my feet.

    Purchased the Nike Invincible 2 recently. For somebody whose not a big high stack max cushion fan because of their clunkyness, I am absolutely addicted to these shoes. The elements of recovery, softness and bounciness is far superior to anything else out their in it's class from other max cushion shoes Ive owned or tried on recently. And remarkably doesn't interfere with my forefoot strike. Because of youtube spam rules can't mention the websites, but right now the womens Invincable 1 are retailing for $100 and the mens $125. Great deal! From what I've read not a big difference between the Invincable 1 and 2.

    ..I am definitely open to the sizing being true.., to maybe slightly over. Since this is a long run shoe for me.., that slight extra space is good for my foot swelling.
    I think the cushion really starts to kick in after 40-50 miles.., I am still running in my 1080v10 (just did a 60 min recovery run this morning) and may pick this up at full price, once the v10’s get retired. at 160, it is pricey.., but cost per mile, it works.
    Great review .., keep it going

    I sized a half size down and fits perfectly. I love the upper update ! Don’t think the slightest weight gain matters for daily miles. As a close to 190 lb runner I find myself wishing for slightly more and longer lasting cushion. Have had this for almost 2 months and like the shoe overall just want more long lasting foam for the price.

    Amazing review as always! After really running in them do they feel like they loosened up a bit?? I currently have two sizes and I’m trying to figure out which one to keep lol. I prefer the snugger fit so I’m wondering if it’ll loosen a tad overtime?? If that’s the case the bigger size may end up being too big after a few runs? Any thoughts at all I really appreciate it as always

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching! It hasn’t really loosened up, so if the smaller size feels uncomfortable for you then it might be worth seeing if the bigger size works better. The stretchy forefoot does help though!

  • @i.p2088
    @i.p2088 Před 2 lety +1

    I have wide feet and I had to get the 1080V10 in wide which made them heavy and clunky 🪨.. In the 1080V12, I bought normal width and even went a half size down 😁. 1080V12 is a beautiful shoe that does everything well. Its a bit heavy so not for really fast runs. When I start my run (I get up at 04:00..) I always think "why did I buy them.. Hard.. No energy return.." but as I warm up they get better and better and after an hour when I start getting tired I absolutely love how they help me to finish the course. Like they get better the more you need them 😁.. Sounds like they have a soul ❓

  • @movdqa
    @movdqa Před 2 lety

    I'm running the 1080v10 at about 280 miles. Very little wear and foam has lost some softness but I actually like it better as it was a bit unstable with all of the foam. I'm looking forward to running with the 1080v12 as the wider platform should provide more stability. I don't think that I've ever run in shoes that lost cushioning after 50 miles.

  • @kerry_runs
    @kerry_runs Před 2 lety

    I did find going down half a size worked for me with the v12s. I agree with your sentiments on the shoe, I do wish the foam was a little more lively. Of course that would encroach on the fuel cell line yet it does feel a bit boring compared to some other offerings.

    • @andrewharper4296
      @andrewharper4296 Před 2 lety

      I own the Novablast 2 and just bought the 1080v12. Done about 350 miles in the Novablast and about 40 miles in the 1080. My initial impressions are they are both very good long run trainers. The 1080 feels more firm under foot (as mentioned in the video), whereas the Novablast seems to have more energy return and I can naturally fall into a steady run. Whether that’s because of how I run I don’t know (I’m a mid foot striker). The 1080’s feel slightly more stable for moving around junctions, whereas you can feel some movement in the Novablast. Like you I’m curious about the Novablast 3’s. Also just for reference. I’m 5ft 7" and 76kg. So on the heavier side. I’m the Uk I’ve noticed both shoes are now in most sales of you feel like grabbing a discount pair.

    Thanks for the review! I was wondering how this feels comparing to Cliftons? I love the Clifton's cushioning but since the 7's the toe boxes have been too narrow for me and wide versions are too wide...Then I came across the 1080, I tried in store and the toe box is very very roomy or is this just something that I need to get used to?

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  Před 2 lety

      Well the toe box is definitely roomy! But I think if it feels a little too roomy, try a half size down next time! Hokas definitely have a narrow toe box and new balance has the exact opposite! Sometimes it can be a little TOO roomy!

      Will be reviewing the Bondi 8 soon, but yes it’s okay to pick from the mens section if you’re a woman. Just be aware that some shoes may be slightly wider or fit a little differently, but if the shoe feels good and works, it doesn’t matter who it’s for!

    Just found this review now! I'm about 600km into my 1080v12s and the edges of the mid outsole look like they've been grinded off, where the rubber doesn't go to the edge. Considering doing a minor repair, either just covering it with some E6000 glue, or gluing some rubber to it if it gets worse. I'm curious to know how yours are holding up!

      The OG Clifton is one of my favorite shoes, but it has some flaws. Flimsy upper / durability lacks a bit and it’s narrow. That being said if you’re ok with these issues then it’s a great shoe!! It changed the cushioning game in the running shoe industry

    It took me a while to learn how to use the v11, my first 1080.
    It actually sat on my shoe rack for months, once i started running slow and loosening up the lacing on them i started using them a lot.
    I could kind of pick up the pace with them and they get me through long miles.
