@Jeff W they weren't better! Without the 2 ints we up 9-6 or 13-6 or more cause both drive the offense was clicking...! Would've should've had points and that could've boosted confidence at half and got ball back drive back down and get at worst fg be 19-6 or something and way our defense was playing put game out of reach for 49ers! They weren't better! Daks picks wore the defense out by 2h cause had to be out there so much and our offense stalled as well in spots! Very winnable game!!!

Daryl Johnston deserves to be in the NFL Hall of Fame for clearing the path for Emmitt all those years.
I miss the days of fullbacks running over people. Love the I-Formation, split backs, and smash mouth football. I grew up watching John Riggins play.
As exceptional as he was as a lead blocker, he was also REALLY good at making those timely receptions out of the backfield to keep the offense moving. Plenty of those "MOOOOOOSSSSE" calls were enjoyed back in the day.
Now there's a good idea. Make Moose Johnston our GM since he has some experience with it. Problem is Jerry would never let anything like that happen.

I think the fact of the matter is that while your team continues to insist on keeping their roster largely internal, teams like Philly go out there and get guys like Reddick, Bradberry, AJ Brown, etc.
As long as we're in an era where there are NFL teams doing that, I think the cowboys formula will only yield these results. It's like tying one hand behind your back and trying to win a fight, like I guess you could, but you're intentionally putting yourself at a disadvantage.
It's easy to blame the QB, and Dak didn't play well yesterday, but there's a reason we were all expecting this, and that's because it keeps happening regardless of the personnel you draft. It becomes a lot more depressing if we accept that this is just reality until the Jones' change their roster construction philosophy.
They aren't paying a qb. They are taking their stab at it. True. But they got 1 more year and that's out the window when they have to give hurts 40-50 million.

Dak once was on his rookie contract and they didn't do anything different then either. The FO just prefers it this way, the rest is just excuses.
Philly went from Wentz to Hurts in the span of 5 years... we're not Philly, giving Jerry the green light to buy and he'll bring in Roy Williams and Greg Hardy... so it's a lose/lose situation with the current GM.
@tri-c5737 the chiefs are paying Patrick mahomes. The best qb. That's the difference. 49ers aren't paying a qb. Not really. 2 rookie deals and garroppolo came back for the year on a cheaper deal. Even the one he had before that was like 27 mill a year. That deal was old and he was about to get cut. And the rams just started paying a qb after they traded there's and all in got them 1. For sure. And as we can see their depth is bow shit and a few injuries, the season is done. No wr outside of kupp. 49ers kicking their ass. So much Sean mccvay considering not even coming back to the team. First year or 2 isn't bad into the qb contract cause a deal isn't spread evenly. It's usually around year 2 it hurts, year 3 begins to be crippling. It's not like this some random guy on internet hot take. This is the basic understanding of anyone in the league will tell you if you understand the way the salary cap works. When the qb in 20% of the entire teams salary per year. By tiem you likely pay the top positions, wr1,cb1,passrusher1,left tackle. You got about 30percent to fill out a whole team.
@@tri-c5737 yea, they had a 2 year window. cause again, how contracts work. they were paying a qb his rookie year, romo. and the romo dead money the next year was high enough that you were paying a qb. and no one believed garrett was going to win a superbowl, so not sure who you think could be bought that would make him a super bowl winning coach. but reality and facts of the matter that you dont like cant be remeied by just calling them excuses. like, when dak leaves, you will see when dak leaves, the first year you still going to be counting him against the cap. dead money. google it if ya need to. sports fans now use the word "excuse" like women use the word "narcissist" talking about men. the conversational deodorant of not having the abiltiy to speak in context. lol
I know we joke about Jesse being a hater but you can clearly see that he is very emotional and passionate about the team. He cares and he wants them to win because as much as he is an analyst he is also a fan like the rest of us. I appreciate that.

I totally agree with you. They need a mature and fundamental OC that can truly mentor Dak and hold him accountable for what he does. It's unbelievable to me that after six full seasons, Dak is still unable to quickly identify what is happening in front of him and decide based on what he sees, one of them to know when to throw the darn ball away vs. feeding the defenders with the ball. Example this past Sunday, your defense is playing lights out, don't make it any more difficult for them.
@@lyad3618 This is just my opinion but I think to many people think Daks is a better Quarterback than what he truly is to me he is not one of those Quarterbacks that raise his team to another level especially when he doesn’t have just everything right it was sad to pay him that type of money and every time it’s always the same thing ( I got to do better ) if you haven’t done it by now more than likely it won’t happen
@@jackbrock2945 I agree totally. But while he is there, a different and more fundamental OC is what he needs. Play fundamental football and no more gimmicks for crying out loud. For that he will need a much stronger running game.

I want to jump in an alternate universe where we have Coop and Lamb playing on the same field, at the same time and see how much more efficient our offense is…

Winnable game yesterday and the Defense playing out of their mind gave us a chance and we went 3 in out. We called out the Defense half of the season, Zeke since last season all these other guys but somehow always have an excuse for Dak and that has to stop. He’s not terrible by no means but he can’t win it without a running game, TP went down but that wasn’t the end all be all, we had Zeke, Davis & Turpin but Kellen decided to go vanilla and we struggled
Johnston's discussion of modern team building, the "window" and what teams are doing it right and which aren't was one of the best I've ever heard. That said, it seems that Jerry Jones may be this generation's Al Davis, simply hasn't adapted to the modern game.

The only positive on offense was that Moore didn't allow San Fran to take Ceedee out of the game. But not having a number 2 also really hurt.
Jeff, it’s not just who we lose it’s also what your competition gain. Look at the Eagles offseason (draft & free agency). If Derrick Carr or Garoppolo join the Commanders.

Our defense is keeping the window open.
I think we could use Tyron as our Swing Tackle. I agree with Jesse about Tyler being at LT. Our RT is Steele and we need to Draft/acquire a LG to get bigger and nastier on the OL. I think we go RB in the 1st.
After listening to Moose Johnston, he should be the GM. Then we need a coach with complete authority over the players. Become invisible Jerry. Rebuild by targeting a QB in the draft 2 to 3 years out and put yourself in position to draft him (sacrifice a season or 2 and trade players and draft picks, if necessary). In the meantime, build the offensive and defensive lines through this and next years draft. Sign or draft another wide receiver. Dak is not and will never be a championship caliber QB. His best year was his rookie year. That should tell you all you need to know. I don't want to hear about the stats (including leading the league in interceptions). The fact is he is not an accurate passer, doesn't have a particularly strong arm, doesn't see the whole field, has poor timing and can't seem to know how to "drive the bus". Purdy is not a better QB than Dak, but he plays within himself and doesn't make mistakes (yet). However, Jerry is the biggest problem (football-wise) and that may be one that can never be overcome.
In an alternate universe, I buy out the Cowboys from JJ. Immediately hire Troy Aikman to be my GM and find a way to bring on DJ as well...

Management of cap space is very important New England was great at not overpaying players .
And they were great at getting rid of a personnel whose production has dropped.

I agree with J.Holley about Tyler Smith at LT. He is right, he needs all of the reps there and he looks like he could be a real stud there. T.Steele will be back and that was a pretty big loss when he went out for the season. The only offensive line position that really needs an upgrade is LG, McGovern is ok but I doubt they re-sign him and I think they can get an upgrade over him in the draft. If Tyron agrees to be the swing tackle then that’s fine and he’s had a HOF career but I think he probably will either retire or they’ll try to get him to take a paycut.
Listen I am an old school football fan ..but what is the difference between a horse collar and the way Pollard was tackled?
I really hope Jalen Tolbert takes a GIANT leap forward, and we still draft a really fast route running wr. And draft a couple rb’s and go by committee
Feel like I'm making it up, but I'm almost positive I heard Whitt say in a presser last year when Dan was interviewing for Denver that Dallas DC was a dream job. He knows the roster, would get a promotion + 💰and wouldn't have to start over elsewhere. Don't think it's out of the question to keep some of this defensive staff by offering more money if Dan leaves.
They were trying to make the team identity " everything runs through Zeke."
I think after all these years, I'm starting to grow numb. Didn't even get upset they lost. Idk. Just kind of knew this performance was a real possibility so wasn't shocked or really even disappointed.
If speed is the issue... and it is... why was Will Fuller never a part of the discussion for signing a WR?
It's a lot easier to build a tier 1 offense than a tier 1 defense. The Cowboys blow this window with this defense, good luck over the next 10 years.

If wasnt for the injuries i would easily say Njigba, Need a route technician with Amari gone. Almost all our current receivers are possession receivers
3:45 left, 3 timeouts, ball on own 21. Why throw on every down and not just run the ball, get first downs, and move forward?
Run the ball with who? If Pollard was not hurt sure, but the oline was not opening holes for rbs.
Receivers were wide open in this game and dak coward down and didn't get them the ball when the line gave him plenty of time to throw. But the niners covered the spread if they were to loose🤷♂️

Defense was great they held them to less then 20, all on the offense whoever you want to blame Dak, The bad receiver drops, oline, Kellen and Mike. Needs a change, you cant have this bad a loss to the same team in the divisional round and think you can just do it again for a better result. I don't care how many reg season wins you get or how many playoff spots you get if this is what we get to watch as fans. Dak, Kellen and Mike, one or 2 of you need to go. The Franchise that started the Hail Mary didn't try for that instead we saw a top 5 worst play of all time. Going to love seeing that shoved in my face for decades. Jeff idk how you can think "just run it back" is a good idea at this point.

I see it as you bring Steele back and let Tyron be your swing T or LG. Tyron is a HoFer but he will miss 6-8 games from now on. Not his fault, just the NFL.
The Cowboys have improved every season under McCarthy. The upward trend will continue next season. Keep drafting well and keep improving.

To me, Dak has been on his own since Romo mentored him his first season. Believe Dak when he said this season's interceptions won't happen again.

Why did they never use Turpin for offensive snaps? Use him for jet sweeps or fakes, bubble screens or anything Tony Pollard was used for.
This is a weird season because I EXPECTED our offense too look awful EVERY week because we've been featuring the worst RB in football along with ONE pretty good reciever and a bunch of bums that aren't really NFL players.... Gallup's was washed all season...TY was on his coach...Noah Brown was a practice squad/special teams guy for the past four or five seasons until this year...yet between Dak and Moore they were able to figure it out until they olayed the Niners and Dak never could get going
Call me suspicious and I have felt this way for many years. Many can argue that curses DO exist in professional sports. Until Jimmy Johnson is inducted into the Ring of Honor this team will NEVER win anything of substance... #petitionforjjintheringofhonor

Thank you Moose....i when McCarthy took the Packers to the SB he turned a small wide receiver into a running back and he was a key to their run.... THAT PLAYER SHOULD HAVE BEEN TURPIN. Sorry but Malik Davis has one nice run all season outside of playing against back ups and guys in the street. David has not been impressive at all to me and we don't need a clown like Mr Courtside...btw I can't play for 5 weeks. Got to get #2&3 receivers. Get one that is 6’5” and can get that 3rd down. Let Dak roll out and add another demission to the offense. Got to get better on run defense and 3rd down. Got to get better in the offensive backfield. Dak can get it down… but u have to be consistent on what you are gonna ask him to do and then let him go do it.

They have no weapons aside from Ceedee. Dak is average. Schultz was so up and down. The other WRs are average #3-4-5 guys. Kellen moore is flat when it’s crunch time. Zeke is washed. The front office is afraid to make moves to put team over the top. Everyone acting like this is just one little thing isn’t paying attention. Eagles went out and GOT PLAYERS- absolute dogs. And the cowboys pick up a washed TY Hilton they don’t even use down the stretch. It’s so frustrating. 28 years a fan and it’s always garbage.
Daks above average but the receivers outside of Lamb are WAY below average along with Zeke...and Shultz is about average....I mean you'd need Prime Peyton Manning or one of Prime Bradys good Seasons to make this offense work consistently....its crazy because Rush would have lost fo Tampa but probably could have beat the Niners by just being careful

Needed DT. Help trafes for Hanskins played ieffectively and gets Hurt, yesterday a key penalty was his best contribution.. Bohanna, Gallimore, Tristan Hill, and Golhston, draftees not answers at DT. Yesterday did Dante Fowler played? He played well at beginning of season. Result Dallas fans for 27 years will be watching S.B. at home. And if i am right about Jerry he is not going to spent the monies needed to get this team to Superbowl. He did that in 90's with signing of Charles Haley and Dion Sanders, but close to 90 he is no Longer interested in Spending millions on free agents. My opinion.!!

I think the window closes after next year. Armstrong and Kearse have 1 more year left. Get Lewis back to start season for the slot. Add a rookie or 2 and the defense is good again. Only real signing you need is a 2 year deal on LVE.

@joshjarrell3442 the window he's referring to. That you compete for nfc championship game-superbowl. I know losing most lose any ability to assess if they had any before. But you lost 1st round last year, although score close, game not feeling it was too competitive, to the team that was a dropped stafford interception from the super bowl. Lost this year in round 2, in a highly competitive game that you were tied going into the 4rth qtr on the road, where you lost your biggest playmaker for half the game. I know fans takes the facts as spin win it doesn't fit their narrative to be negative. But that's just the state affairs to the team. Unfortunate to lose, But losing pollard, you wasn't beating philly with zeke. So atleast I don't have to live thru losing THAT game and seeing them go to the superbowl on our dime.
@billierenfro705 I'd also like to add Hankins. I think him and LVE would be affordable. But dream scenario would be to sign Daron Payne. Cause he's a d tackle that plays run and the pass. But next major free agent we sign will be the first. If we made a move for 1 I'd prefer it be a trade offer for Evans or Hopkins. They might be sellers with their situations. But this is NOT a good wr draft class nor free agebt class, so I'd be interested in where they go to help this wr core.

Can you guys talk about the kittle play when he was covered up by the fullback, wouldn’t he be an ineligible receiver when he made that huge catch and the 49ers went on to score their only touchdown.
Or how about why didn't the safety light his ass up when he was bobbling the ball instead of looking away and flying right by. No way he should have caught that ball

Hi Jeff. Tried messaging you on the Twitter but it won't let me probably cause of this question lol: which is do you think if it wasn't mlkjr day do you really think the cowboys would have won . If you think what I'm thinking then maybe playoffs should start in black history month and maybe he might stand a chance winning more games. Just saying and I watched just about every game this year and I was in NY at the giants game this year and seeing what this team is capable off. If it wasn't for gambling we would have won the game but instead dak was trying out for the new longest yard movie, which I think he won the main character part. Oh and I'm a white piss ant in the sweet state of Maine. If I'm Jerry I'm signing Tom Brady this off season and demoting dak to back up or a post June cut with his good friend Tony pollard and maybe zeke. Tony is broken now won't have the same burst now(I can be wrong) but dak isn't the same either. Our line kept dak clean enough to where if it was Brady or Aaron Rodgers we would have tore them up. Dak’s field of vision is less than adequate as emotion affects a broad range of memory formation. Processing, storage, and execution albeit in 3 seconds. I’m not sure where Dak’s head is at on any given play, but something is off. Has he reached a ceiling? I have no idea, but perhaps he needs a better QB coach.
"Mismanagement of cap" for Amari Cooper. Look at ZEKE and DAK's numbers. Worse. Both need to be gone. Boss Jerry has them in cap prison for another year , maybe two. They have no answer at QB, a running back with an ankle injury, another back that can barely make 3 yards a carry. They have defensive players that need to be paid , but DAK's contract is eating up the cap dollars necessary for that. They dumped coaches, but should have gotten rid of Prescott. Too late for that. He should rework that deal and play for the minimum. He will just stand and say how he is responsible and needs to play better, but never does unless it's a worse team that he is facing. Any QB can do that with THIS Defense. This is a dysfunctional offense and organization. That is why they let go of six coaches.

Jessie and the majority of the sports punditd predicted that the Cowboys would suck this season, and they didn't, he said the same thing the season before, and now he is starting early for next year, it's hard to believe if the Boys get D Hop, and Bijan Johnson, that they won't be as good as Philly or better? And that's just two players, the front office can easily make this team better, by doing the obvious, New O.C and a 2nd #1 receiver
I'm not the biggest fan of Dak right this minute, but he's not terrible IMO...just needs to get mentally right and spend some money with a personal QB Coach/consultant....I'd give him one more season and if he doesn't get better, time to move on. Obviously other things to clean up, but last night was on Dak 80% atleast
he needs to spend more time with Kellen. his mentality and understanding of the scheme is off
He's been in the league for 7 years.. He is not a rookie.. He is who he is.. while we sit here and wait for him to get things like his mechanics down there will be a new batch of rookie QBs that will already have things situated

Dak didn’t seem to have any sense of urgency in the 2nd half of that game.
He also looked slow. Passing, scrambling (what scrambling?)
He looked like a backup that was overwhelmed by the importance of the game.
What hurts the most, is that the 49ers won that game with their 3rd best quarterback.
Disappointing that Dak is our BEST quarterback.

I trust Dak. Yesterday was the game I just knew he was gonna take over. He didn't. I'm hurt. We needed our defense to score and they didn't. Man I'm hurt. Good season though. Only up from here
I was with you until last night. Too many ups and downs and i can no longer trust Dak. We needed him to be consistent for the playoffs and we got last night game instead. We need to draft a potential replacement.
The Jones family is stuck trying to build a dynasty on the cheap. While other franchises are lapping them with complete rebuilds.
At the same time.. most QB would be praised for going 12-5 and getting to the divisional round with this roster. Daks talked about like he's a bum because everyone wants him to fail for some reason.
He's good, but he won't take the 'Boys to the Super Bowl. Both things can be true.

@@JoeTayMetal facts. Even the chiefs spent a billion dollars on OL after Tampa beat up mahomes in the superbowl. Cincy did the same thing with burrows after he got beat around last year vs rams. Plus cincy had Mixon and drafted Higgins with burrow and drafted chase.
There's this myth that qbs do it by themselves but they don't. Yet some how not only hete with dallas fan but nationally our qb gotta do it with nothing or he's not elite let alone good but if he does it with help again he's not good enough

Dak has got as much as Moore has to give....since we're stuck with Dak get a new good play calling OC that can scheme and maximize Dak skill set.....an OC to help Dak learn consistency!!!!...if not it will be same song nxt yr....PERIOD!!!!
I believe the whole Cowboys break show all agreed Moore has to go, when a podcast crew that's under the Cowboys official media is saying it and risking getting in trouble by doing so, that's how you know how badly it needs to get done
