Anybody who knows anything about physics knows that a mirrored surface is literally the least hot thing in the sun because it reflects most energy instead of absorbing it. The Cybertruck's surface is as close to a mirror as car surfaces get, so it will absolutely be the least hot car in the sun.
If you've seen the cybertruck i person I can assure you it's absolutely not anywhere close to a mirror finish. It's like a satin finish. You can see your reflection, but its very murky and not clear. The color will have much more of an effect on solar heat absorption than anything. Shiny black car's still get hot.
The glass roof is a joke. Heat and cold comes from there.

Thanks for another insightful video, Ryan. Someone should post a video of the carrot test on a hatch back mini van, sedan, SUV, etc. I suspect they will see very similar results to the carrot test on a Cybertruck.

RE: IR temp measurement the "Emissivity" of a material effects the IR reading, typical temp. guns are calibrated for an Emissivity of 0.95, some can be re-calibrated to a material value from a table. Stainless Steel type 321 Emissivity is 0.27 - 0.32. Which means the reading might be about 30% of the actual value for a simple IR thermometer.

I think the cybertruck has just gotten a lot of scrutiny because it’s billed as such a technologically advanced vehicle and it starts at such a high price ($80-$100k and up), while other automakers have been able to incorporate sensors in their vehicles for a lot lower starting price. Glad to see Tesla addressing this though.

This is one of the best podcast I have ever seen. He is very focused, clear and concise. I wish he did podcast for everything I am interested in. I am waiting on a model Y Ludacris, upgrade juniper, to include better suspension. I have been sitting around toying with the idea of modeling a new cayenne turbo for about $160,000. However, the model Y that I owned was probably the most Fun car I have ever driven. It had rough suspension and Tesla charged😊 me several thousand dollars for full self driving which we all know is a rip off. I can’t believe the FTC hasn’t done something about that theft. Anyway, great show thank you very much.

It will not be coming with air suspension. Highly unlikely. They're making a scaled down model s, so they wouldnt make a cheaper car that offers all of its features.

Tesla will eventually need to move from their "Sell sell sell!" business model to "Upgrading older models" business model. Like battery/motor upgrades (like existing MCU1 to MCU2 upgrades), not just waiting for them to break before swapping. That's essentially refurbishing the cars, and considering the rest of the car can last forever, there would be a market.
I've been eyeing a MY since the M3 incentives went away, but unfortunately I have a price target of $36K out the door with the chargers included or $35K without the chargers. Tesla right now is about 4K above what I'm willing to pay, so alas, I wait.

all this fud comes from biased tesla haters, many of them un educated, and many of them purposely grasping at straws to be critical of tesla. my brothers ice SUV rear hatch will cut a carrot too if you place it near the hinge area....to add, was reading a cybertruck review the other day and the obviously bias reviewer went on a rant about teslas only physical volume control being on the steering wheel, had a full paragraph complaining about how un intuitive and inconvenient it was for the passenger (actually cursing it)....just last week had someone in my model 3 who had never been in a tesla....he got a phone call and before i could even respond, he had found the volume control and turned down the music himself on the screen, its weird how obsessively hateful some people (and even professional journalists) have become of Tesla. Its really just politics, some people are extremely emotionally invested in their political stances.

That's disappointing, ludicrous mode in old model s was 2.4 seconds. So expected speed for ludicrous is in 2.5 second range
Can't make it just tenth awsy from Plaid's 1.9, so they made it a second slower. It's a mini S and only one second slower and still faster than 99% of cars on the road that cost at much higher costs. No disappointments here.

I am glad I held on for the best deal I could get on my MYP. It's a fun as hell car that is everyday keeping a smile on my face. Though I am not really saving much over my own or car due to the interest rates it's dope as hell to "fill" up at home.
I'm running into real resistance these days when speaking to friends about my 2020 Model 3. Even my most pro-EV friends, who are now going ahead with EV purchases, are swearing to never support Tesla over Elon's political toxicity. I've heard this so many times it's statistically significant. Too bad that he's alienating his greatest market potential. I have to think that he may be pushing away some pretty good R&D and design talent as well. Why do so many brilliant innovators crash and burn?

It will be interesting to see how these compare to the various Corvettes. The e-Ray should be able to take it 0-60, but on the street, I'm not sure the 2wd will get it done, and the quarter mile in the Ludicrous might not be that different. On a turney track, tires brakes and suspension will be huge, as will managing pack thermals, but this is a performance model, and new, and Tesla's 5 crack at one. We'll see what kind of effort they put into it, but we know they know how to do it.
You do know the hybrid powertrain in the e-ray makes it awd right? The electric motor powers the front wheels, which makes this corvette the quickest of the bunch in pretty much all scenarios except hot sticky asphalt where the Z06 might have a shoy

Tesla not accepting Fisker trade-ins is a proof that Fisker is done. Tesla is a big company and it has much bigger resources to evaluate the trade-in vehicles than small to big used car dealers. I wouldn't risk of not getting it serviced or finding someone who can repair especially software-wise. Plus, when there are no parts available, this vehicle will definitely be a tremendous headache for the life of the ownership. Thanks for the video Ryan.

Not going to happen with “only” a 100-150bhp bump. As much as I would love that, I highly doubt 2.5 would be reasonable. 2.7 would be nice, maybe if the 2.9 is real, they’ll offer the “upgrade” that’ll bring it down to 2.7

@@benwhittle7204it's possible but they probably won't do it. For the rapid acceleration you don't need huge horsepower, you need huge initial torque. The current model 3 performance peaks power at about 50mph, the old model s peaked at about 38mph, which is why they were able to get ludicrous acceleration. IMO, low speed acceleration is fine already, what they need is sustained acceleration past 80mph. Power drops off a lot after 80mph and that's when the ICE cars start reeling them in. I doubt ICE cars will reel in the new M3P.

Ryan, can you comment on a requirement to replace all tires if one is damaged? The odd size tire throws traction control off and everything goes haywire bad.
Pretty common with AWD systems from any manufacturer. Avoid tread depth that varies more than 3/32”.
1). ensure you check tire wear and rotate tires accordingly.
2). If you destroy a tire and need to replace it you may need to find a used one or replace all four.

@@knell7900 For other stuff they have no problem importing chinese parts, but the American brands ultimately take the 80% profit. For a complete self-branded vehicle they couldn't do that, and importing chinese batteries will lose them $7500 tax credit.
I slammed my hand in my f350 tailgate as a test and it didn’t do anything. Tesla must be bad and defective. I marvel at the silliness of some logic of people who are determined to criticize anything Tesla. Simply go drive your ice car paying 4-5 per gallon for gas and do something productive. Slamming your hand in car doors or trunks is simply a bad idea on any vehicle.

@@poorasslawstudent I never said interest rates don’t affect affordability, but interest rates increase the monthly payment, which is the most important cost for most folks. Also the average price for a new vehicle was 48k last year and this year so far it’s 44k. The Model 3 starts at 38k and the Y started at 36k after the tax credit. Previously in this past quarter you could get the Model 3 for 32k after the tax credit. So yeah I would say that I’m correct on that one

The initial Model Y design was rushed to market and was just a carbon copy of the Model 3. I have a strong feeling that Tesla will take their time with the redesign of the Model Y. It will definitely have different qualities when compared to the refreshed Model 3

I wish they would release a car purely focused on maximum range. I don't need or want ludicrous speed or power...0-60 in 7-8 seconds is plenty. I'd much rather have a low power output vehicle with more efficient motors and lower power use that can get an extra 100 miles of range. Also still no driver screen in front of the steering wheel ? Come on already....the single display "must look away from the road" has been done and it's tired.
We need to remember the semi is for local deliveries only. I wonder what they will do for coast to coast deliveries

I think if Tesla changes their semi-trucks with the capabilities to swap batteries at a battery station just like the Chinese EV company Nio does to their vehicles, they will be even more advantageous and have a huge and better success. Some companies don't like for their trucks to sit around for a long period of time, especially if they're being charged. This would definitely solve that problem and have their trucks on their way in a matter of 5 to 10 minutes by just simply swapping a battery from underneath the truck. Who knows, maybe move that same concept to all of Tesla vehicles in the future, unless if someone comes up with an ultimate battery that could be fully charged in minutes!
Nah that makes no sense from an engineering perspective or supply chain perspective. 10-80 takes about 30 min which when unloading a Semi that time could easily pass
@chidorirasenganz please explain how it would it not make sense from an engineering or supply perspective. The technology already exists. I haven't also noticed a supercharger at an unloading dock. To have a swap station, for example, at a truck stop, they could easily pull up, swap the battery, and keep going to the next truck station until they reach their destination. It's almost as good as the same Tesla supercharging structure but even better. This will also help by making longer trips and not just the current short distance that Pepsi is making.
@@HayCabrone From a supply constraint it makes less sense because there’s not enough materials for batteries versus the rest of the vehicle. So instead of making a battery per semi it would be at least two or three batteries per semi which is a lot more especially considering each battery is about a megawatt hour of energy. At every facility that is using the semi there is a megawatt charger which is what takes it from 10 to 80% in a half an hour.
Truck drivers have to stop at least for 30 min not mention unloading the truck takes take time. That means they will have almost 1000 miles of range available per day. On average they are doing 400-600. Anything under 500 is easily handled on a full charge.
On the engineering standpoint, it makes more sense to focus on getting better efficiency and higher reliability, rather than making a battery that’s very easily swappable

My dad used to be a truck driver, and he had to stop driving after 10 hours by law to rest, so if the batteries can hold those many hours on the road ( not sure how many miles that may be), that'll be great!
