In anticipation of our desire for all folks who want to join our game on Second Life to be able to, we've made a series of no-nonsense succinct tutorials to get beginners started. This tutorial is about signing up for Second Life, downloading the Firestorm Viewer for Second Life instead of Second Life's viewer, and then actually getting logged in when you're using a Mac or MacBookPro.
What is our game? Stargate Nexus is a fan-fiction using a 3d avatar to aid a text-based RPG game played out on a sim in Second Life. (Well, it will be when it's done being built; soon.) Tied to this game is the webisode machinema series of the same name, Stargate Nexus, soon to air the pilot episode right here on the Stargate Nexus Channel.

It says it can’t be opened because the developer cannot be verified
Better late than never: This scenario is talked through in this very tutorial, beginning at 2:20 and concluding by 3:20, though I confess (in the video too) that because I'd done the downloading and opening before, I didn't actually get a recording of that pop-up, or the actual way it looks in your security settings, but I do show you click-by-click how to get to it and verbally explain the double verification required before it will open that first time.

I’m on my Mac laptop and it’s says “requesting region capabilities” it never finishes loading
FYII: That happens when the region you are signing into is either resetting or is/was being moved by LindenLabs. If/when it happens, just try signing into a different region. The firestorm viewer allows one to select from their own landmarks and "home" position when signing in.
It doesn't work for me because I don't have a computer
so can you help me do I really need a computer to be
able to play it because I really wanna play it on my iPad ?
My best educated guess at this time is yes, you need a computer to play on SL. There IS a mobile option, which an iPad log-in would probably trigger because the iPad operating system is of mobile design, not desktop design. SecondLife mobile, from what I have heard, is very limited. You might be able to log in and see your avatar, chat with friends on your friends list or whomever is local, but not move or teleport anywhere. I will do more experimentation later about iPads and SL, but for now, I don't recommend it.
I follow all the steps but when I open the software it doesn't open and says "Firestorm closed unexpectedly" :( can you help me??
Better late than never: When this happens to me (and it's rare), I just wait a minute or two and try to open it again. For me, this has worked every time. Always check if SL grids are down when this happens by checking their website status.secondlifegrid.net/ because if SL grids are down, this error is more likely in my experience.
Do you think a Msi laptop would work for second life ?
I do not know anything about MSI laptops so I cannot accurately answer that question. Best wishes!
my microphone wont work its not asking me for microphone permissions
Better late than never: In the firestorm viewer, microphone permissions can be found by clicking "avatar" in the upper left corner. Then click "preferences" from the dropdown. A window will pop-up with many options and a bunch of tabs on the left side. Click the tab that says "sound & media" and you'll see this tab has tabs! From that new top series of tabs click "voice," and you'll notice at the bottom of the window, a new button appears that reads "audio device settings", click it. Before you do anything else here, look at the top of this window and check the box next to "enable voice". Now you will see "input" and "output" have active dropdown lists you can click... if you installed your microphone correctly, you should see it listed in the "input" dropdown menu as a device option. If you're using your computer's built-in mic, you should see that as an option too. Please remember to click "ok" at the bottom when you're done to save those settings! also, remember to review and apply or disallow the other settings as you see fit by using those checkboxes.
