    One thing i think you should mention to newer raiders is actually the “enfeeblements” part of HUD. Many mechanic’s solutions require you to do something specific based on a de-buff that the boss gives you. Highly recommend that part of HUD is clearly visable/large.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem +2

      That is a very good tip! I think it depends on the player how much they need to adjust their HUD, but being aware of debuffs and effects in general is a very good idea, regardless of what it takes for the individual to pay attention to them!

    • @Turbopasta
      @Turbopasta Před rokem +1

      P10S is a good example of a recent fight that does this. I play NIN too so it was pretty important for me to adjust my HUD to show buffs/debuffs separately.

      Also recommend! When doing masked carnival for blue mage I had to notice debuffs and timing of them, so I enlarged debuffs to track that.

    I would like to add that party finder lets you do a filtered search. You can even make it so you only see pf's for groups specifically looking for your current job.
    Makes it so much easier and faster to find groups especially if you're maining a popular job or if there are over 100 pf's up.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem

      That is a great tip! I believe if you filter for groups looking for your current job it even filters out groups that just have the "one player per job" setting on, if the group has your job already
      Thank you!

    I feel like there's one thing to say that's missing from a guide like this...
    The training dummy.
    It's so much easier on yourself and everyone in your party if you go do some research on how your job is played, and give it some practice on a training dummy. Openers contribute a huge amount of DPS as all buffs easily align there. Furthermore, especially for you healers out there, someone needs to tell you to not use Cure 1 in a savage raid :p
    So, before you go into a savage, hit up a training dummy and some job guides to ensure you know exactly what to do with your job.
    My greatest tip to help this goes to the healers out there, and that's utilising your full toolkit. I cannot even start to count the amount of times i've seen Sages that don't use Haima. White Mages that don't use Asylum. And to my horror, even an Astrologian that didn't use cards. Don't be that person, make sure you come prepared for difficult content by knowing what your job can and should do.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem +3

      I feel like I somewhat alluded to the idea of preparing yourself and learning your job at around 4:08 when I suggested watching or reading a guide, even for a job you are confident you know! ^^ But I suppose I could have more bluntly said "GO TO A DUMMY AND PRACTICE!" xD But I don't think it is outright missing from this guide! :-)
      Aside from that, you are absolutely right that taking the time to properly make sure you haven't forgotten anything, and that you know somewhat whats most effective for your job before you start doing hard content is a very good idea! ^^

    • @garbagebandit5934
      @garbagebandit5934 Před rokem +4

      Seconded. Results may vary, obviously, since beating on the training dummy doesn't 100% translate to a real fight where you're much more likely to fudge your gcds during mechanics, but that's easily fixed with doing it more.

    • @cyntheticly
      @cyntheticly Před rokem +6

      @@garbagebandit5934 The biggest thing i see with people who use the striking dummy is they only practice their opener and maybe 1-2 minutes of their rotation. You likely should be able to confidently do 4-6 minutes without thinking and it just being muscle memory. It really shows in savage and ulti prog when your not having to think at all about what your doing with your job during prog outside of fight specific optimizations once your comfy with mechanics.
      Even now when im sitting in PF to help groups and whatnot or waiting on people to get online, ill just randomly sit smacking the striking dummy just to make sure i have the muscle memory and get warmed up before actual pulls

    a note, groups are much less likely to accomodate double caster as they are double melee(this is standard) or double ranged phys(much easier to fake melee without cast bars)

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem +1

      This is very true! In fact, I'd imagine that double melee is the most common composition outside of exceptions where 3 ranged(mage or Rphys) is heavily preferred for some reason.
      However, as long as you have 1 of each type, the one Ranged Physical can be the fake melee in a double caster composition!
      So I left this kind of discussion out of the video because I felt it was too much up for debate to give a straight answer! :-)
      But thank you for the note! :D

    • @cyntheticly
      @cyntheticly Před rokem +2

      Just wanted to get the information out there, as it may help some people understand why things are done that way now.
      In the past 2 casters was sometimes brought due to feint being fairly useless before EW, as it didn't do any magical mitigation and most AoE's in the high end content are magical. So in really hard fights having another 10% addle could make survivability far easier along with at the time most melee weren't miles above casters in damage. EW changed this quite a bit as melees do noticeably more dps than Phys range and casters atm (outside of BLM, and MCH (mch brings similar dps as most melee, but lacks a raid buff) due to almost every boss being 100% uptime with no effort required.
      Tried to tldr it, but that's the main reason you dont see double caster or phys range anymore.
      Funny thing is, in most fake melee situations usually a caster takes the melee spot and not the phys range. BLM as an example in most fights LOVES melee spots, as melees in strat designs are put in spots were they don't have to move nearly as much as the ranged people as they have to sit around the edge of the boss. Of course there are exceptions to this, but if you look at strats closely its a trend you'll start to notice.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem

      @@cyntheticly I recall seeing the fake melee BLM back in Shadowbringers as well, but I only managed to experience it myself once so I didn't think it was enough data to claim it was common, but it makes very good sense when you think about it!

    • @Nazuiko
      @Nazuiko Před rokem

      Im confused; how do you fill DPS slots without double melee?
      You could do Melee + MCH + Dancer + Caster but MCH feels a touch redundant when Samurai provides more damage, Ninja provides similar damage and more utility, and in either case you can assume you have a Maiming Job/Monk as your second melee.
      Or else youre going full prog with melee + mch + Smn + Rdm?

    • @cyntheticly
      @cyntheticly Před rokem +1

      @@Nazuiko You dont need 2 melees, You can have 3 ranged. Most common non Double melee in the past is probably: Melee + BLM + Phys + Caster.
      This comp allowed BLM to get the melee spot which often in fights has the least movement due to melees sticking on to the edge of the boss, and allows a more mobile caster such as SMN to do the caster mechanics.
      I've done fake melee BLM in TEA a ton to give an example. In BJCC vs having to run back and forth across the arena in the caster spot. I move like twice for that entire boss in the melee one.

    Having now been playing for an entire year and spending a good deal of time leveling jobs to level 90. Savage raiding for me is the benchmark I know I can dive into, but still have to get over my initial anxieties. Experience is the ultimate teacher and you never know until you try.

      Absolutely! The scary thing about getting into savage is that you need experience there to be confident there, so you have to dive in. That's why the best I can do to help is advice on the things you can prepare so that you at the very least don't show up unprepared! 😊
      Fortunately for those that find it too scary, savage raiding is also optional 😊

Though first I still need to meld my gear…
      But like you said, there is no shame in just not doing it if you really don’t think it’s something you can handle. I watch videos about guides, and figuring out the Limit Cut and Baiting the lightning cones works in P9S genuinely made my neurons light up it felt like once I heard and saw how it’s supposed to be handled. • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That is a good question!
      I don't think it's too late, as there are many places where people might be recruiting so maybe there is a place you haven't looked.
      If you feel confident, you could also try and approach some of the groups recruiting for P11S honestly even if you don't have the prog. Maybe they are willing to take you and help you up to their level! Not all groups will do that, but there are some that might!
      In the worst case, you could start your own static, but you might not want to be a leader, which I would also understand, but that would certainly be the most effective solution if you can't find groups!

    Maybe we just have to think outside of the box with vitality potion.. So l joined an ultima weapon garuda prog group by accident one day. So garuda will use a heavy hitting room wide aoe after she screams, leaves, then comes back. Maybe more mechanics can be cheesed in these old ultimate with vitality potion? Lol..

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Před rokem +2

      It is a possibility! Apparently one of the Alexander Savage fights does too much Unique Damage for Blue Mages to survive synced, and as it is Unique Damage, it ignores Diamondback and other damage reduction! The only option allegedly is Vitality Potion! I am not 100% sure if this is entirely true, as I was simply told about this specific case. But it is still a funny situation!
      And you are right that, perhaps, Vitality Potions can replace a cooldown in a tough spot! The main concern is that anything a Vitality Potion can do, usually defensive cooldowns can do just as well or better! And since you would be using damage boosting tinctures when you aim for the clear, that means Vitality is off the table! Although, just like Super Ethers can be great for healers on prog, maybe Vitality potions can be useful for the raid as a whole to try and cheese certain mechanics? Who knows!
