- Hey guys! This is Sarah, a Japanese "salary woman" from Tokyo.
Who loves a glass of delicious cold matcha (green tea) latte!? 🍵
The great news is that you can make it at home ☺️
Here's an easy recipe for you and you don't need to use a bamboo whisk!
Ingredients:
● 2 tsps matcha powder
● 1/4 cup hot water
● 1 tbsp sweetener (optional)
● 1 cup milk (any)
● ice cubes
Tips:
The best ways to mix matcha are to use a bamboo whisk or a milk frother rather than a spoon because matcha powders tend to clump up.
You can use a spoon to mix the matcha, as mentioned in the video, however I highly recommend you pushing the powder down a sifter.

Lol
Thank you for this simple recipe! Just got a milk frother and can’t wait to try it out lol.
Is it possible to tell the name of the matcha you used and if it’s available online? Or any other good quality ones for drinks. I’ve tried 3-4 different brands of matcha from the store, but they have always turned out to be dull and brownish. Never vibrant green :(
Thanks for that! I got my matcha powder at a nearby supermarket in Japan, but maybe you can check out some matcha from large Japanese companies (e.g. Itoen, Iyemon). They usually produce decent quality matcha!
Jade Leaf Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder on Amazon. It is pricey, but sourced from Japan.
ive had this same issue before!!! i use Ujido Ceremonial Blend Matcha - its made in japan and it gives a vibrant green color! tastes amazing also. i live in the US + found it in a local supermarket, it should be on amazon though
Just look for ceremonial grade matcha, and remember if it costs like 5$ you get what you pay for
On the maycha can I have it says to only put half a tsp. Isnt it dangerous to put more caffeine wise?
Manuka honey? What's the best and purest matcha to buy? How do I store it for maximum strength
Can I use cold water too?
Thanks for sharing! How long do you mix the matcha and what kind of milk do you use?
Only for about 10-20 seconds until you don’t see any clumps!
I used soy milk ☺️
Hi Sarah, Is there any yummy matcha powders you recommend? Im in California. In store or Amazon pls
I use matcha powder that you can only get in Japan, but I’ve found some on Amazon which I think would be nice 😊
1. Ito En is a famous brand so I would trust this one. You can get the unsweetened one.

2. Just need to pour hot water with this one. Blends is a good brand that makes instant lattes.

jade leaf would also be a good brand to try it's on amazon too
Hello what type of matcha powder do you use??? 💚
What kind of milk do you use?
👍♥️💯💯👌
where do you buy your matcha?
I just got them at a nearby supermarket!
I also pour my matcha over my milk but I had a huge discussion with my community, that matcha should go first. Can you tell me more if any option is correct?
I think it’s fine both ways! It’s similar to the big discussion of whether tea goes in before milk or milk goes in before tea 😂
Little late to the party but I’m curious if you or the fine folks in the comment section can tell me the best kind of milk to use? Whole? Almond? Oat? Thanks!
im not an expert but i personally love oatmilk! i think it is just a matter of preference as well
@@celesteacosta6382 thanks Celeste 😊
dear iam using matcha its really good but may i know the price of matcha in japan 50grams matcha costs how much?
It really depends on the quality but you can get it from 500yen~
Is it 2 tablespoonfuls or teaspoonfuls?
Teaspoonful!
Which frother did you use?
I used a milk frother from the 100 yen store! (Daiso)
@@TokyoFoodieSarah Cool! I have a Daiso by my house! Do you happen to know the make or possibly a have link to it on amazon? I like it because it seems like you can adjust the speed just by pressing harder.
I couldn't find it on Amazon, but I found it on daiso's website. Here you can check what the packaging looks like 😊

@@TokyoFoodieSarah Thank you!
The milk is yellowish is it because its rich with butter in it ? It must taste really good compared to regular milk or is it another sort of milk..thanks
It was soy milk!
Oh so this method requires no sifting! That’s easy enough for me.
As mentioned in the description box, I do recommend sifting as you will get some clumps, but you don't get that many with this method! (I'm lazy so I never sift my matcha hahaha)
that milk hella yellow! Is it mixed with condensed milk?
It’s soy milk!
why is it when i use hot water it taste like fish but with room temp water it's so perf
Omg really!? Thanks for sharing that that’s interesting
Some Japanese matcha are cultivated with a long steam process, maybe 60 seconds and that will lead to a taste reminiscent of seaweed or nori. Other Japanese matcha are steamed less time for more floral flavour. Look into what kind of tea is for you. Also, burning matcha with water too hot will change flavour.
can we use sugar instead of the sweetener
Of course! Apologies I wasn’t clear about that!
THANK YOU!! the recipe that is on my bag of matcha literally doesn't work
🤣🤣🤣
Why is the color of your milk yellow? Is it rancid or egg nog?
It's soy milk! The brand I use is quite yellow
