9:20 In German grammar, you can glue together multiple words to make one super word. And I'm not even making this up. I am from Germany. German is the ultimate sandbox language that can and will create any word imaginatory.
As a fellow German, I will hereby officially announce that this is true. Soviet comrade.
I'm not german, but I try to use german grammar in English, you sourkrauteatingdickheads
GERMANS ASSEMBLE
Ah, I see you're another user spreading this type of myth. You are correct, but this isn't a German thing, but a Germanic thing. This applies to all Germanic languages ... well, not English, but it really is the odd one out.
customer service satisfaction:
Swedish: kundservicenöjdhet
Dutch: klantenservicetevredenheid
German: Kundendienstzufriedenheit
Yiddish: קונהדינסטצופֿרידנקייט
@@Liggliluff Slovak: zemeguľa - sphere of the earth. English: football, ect.... It is all languages, not just germanic ones.
In german you can stick nouns together to create new words that you will never find in a dictionary or something thats why some words are very long
they are multiple words that got put together to create on long word
... and create a single word, other languages would need a full sentence for!
German is like other Germanic languages, where if you have a noun, it's just one word. Just like how you have the English word "football", it's one word therefore written together. But Germanic languages goes all the way. "footballpitch", "footballpitchguard", "footballpitchguarduniform". It's just how it is.
It has the benefit of clearing up ambiguity. "firetruck" is a truck used in relation to fire, and "fire truck" is the act of firing a truck. Same with "slapstick" being a type of comedy, and "slap stick" is the act of slapping a stick.
Yep same in dutch, you could think of any combination of words and combine them you could say 'vrachtwagenventielfabrieksorganisatiemeetingkamerdeurscharnierschoef'
Yes. We do the same in Norwegian.
Smart very cool

Queens Song "I was born to love you" was popular in Japan because Nissin use it in a Cup noodle commercial.

9:08 I've been learning German for a couple years now (Albeit on Duolingo only so my overall skills are minimal) but after practicing this word for about a minute or 2, I can say it now! A little practice is all it takes for any language. What also helps with this word is that it is a compound word, 2 or more words glued together so knowing the words even before getting to the compound word will help you even more!
Numbers written out can be very long as well, for example 143,506,396 would be: Einhunderdreiundvierzigmillionenfünfhundertsechstausenddreihundersechsundneunzig.

Regarding dates - as a programmer I prefer year-month-day because sorting year-month-day alphabetically also sorts it chronologically, and it's the only date format that does that. If you do a lot of spreadsheets or database stuff that's super handy.
I agree with this. I agree very much.
month-day-year makes sense because a lot of people say "February 2nd, 2023"
which is a month-day-year format
Some people say "The 2nd of February, 2023"
Which would be day-month-year, just like the international standard

8:32 the problem with this meme is that none of these genres are really that niche (at least not as niche as the author of that meme thought).
Especially Mongolian throatsinging which has been memed a lot.
Yes, it's not like the deathcore or the Catholicpsycodelicsynthfolk and yes this is a genre
I mean who didn't heard of Skillet?
@@TheRifild of course who hasn't heard collide, or awake and alive or comatose or invincible, greatest songs from them, my favorite song is rebirthing BTW.
Almost all of these memes have problems, who made them?
German doesnt actually have such long words. Its just that we string together normal words: in english youd say custemer satisfaction service and in german you can take those 3 words and just stick them together.
and you do the same when you write numbers .... ( when you write them in letters I mean ..)
(9:00) I don't mind tipping, but...
- Workers should first get paid a living wage.
- And why specifically restaurants? I think grocery store workers deserve tips.
I also find it silly when people argue that a higher salary would mean that the food would cost more ... and paying a 35% tip isn't making it cost more?
And while not exactly the same comparison. But in USA, a McD worker seems to earn about 8,50 USD/hour, and a Big Mac costs 3,99 USD, and meal for 5,99 USD. In Sweden, it's said that the salary is around 200 SEK/hour (19,31 USD/hour), and a Big Mac costs 50 SEK (4,83 USD) and a meal for 89 SEK (8,59). Not sure why a meal is so much more expensive here, but the burger is just 25% more, for 127% higher salary.
10:22 Not only in Germany but also in Slovakia, Bozena Nemcová rewrote old folk tales so that they could be read, because Pavol Dobšinský wrote folk tales unchanged as they sounded from their roots in the Middle Ages. (roots-origin)
(7:00) There's a funny fact. There are actually countries where you speak the date as YDM. But these countries understand how ridiculously stupid it would be to actually write it in this order, they write either DMY or YMD instead.
Why can't countries that speak MDY do the same?
It isnt normalised to speak dates in a certain way.. and how would they normalize it?
"Hey mate, what's the date?"
Oh, its the third of january.
2023, third of january
She's good
"""""""""
Because we don't say it the same way you guys do. Only very rarely do we refer to dates as d/m in normal conversation we usually refer to the month first then the day.
1:40
*"BLOOD OF THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM! BLOOD OF THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOOOM!!!!*"
1:31 That happens in Brazil. The flag of Brazil comes from the flag of the Empire Of Brazil (1822-1889). The green field represents the House Of Bragança, which represents Dom Pedro I, the first emperor of Brazil. The yellow rhombus represents the House Of Habsburg, which represents Empress Maria Leopoldina Of Austria and she was the first Empress Of Brazil and the wife of Dom Pedro I. But the brazilian schools teach you that the green represents "the jungle" and the yellow represents "gold". Well, technically after the coup d'etat against the Empire Of Brazil in 1889 they changed the meaning of the flag so that they could forget about the history of the Empire, but that's not the real meaning of the brazilian flag.
nice
3:06 The solider thing, is actually unfortunately just a myth. In reality, it just was the Austrian General who was the 81st solider
9:25 The thing is german words are often combined words for example: this one is Kundenzufriedenheitsdienst it consists of Kunde (Customer), zufriedenheit (satisfaction) and dienst (service) so basically it means the Satitsfaction of the Customer Service
YYYY-MM-DD has the nice advantage that, if sorted alphabetically, it is automatically sorted chronologically.

The worst about USA using the mm-dd-yyyy system is, like myself, canadians doesn't know at all which one to use at any moment. For writing it, I'm just hoping the correct system is written or I use the long way of writing it. For reading, I just hope a number is higher than 12, if not, I have no idea what the date is
I just write the 3 character abbreviation for the months whenever i write the date down. Unless its on some official document that has to be MM-DD-YYYY. Just as easy to write Feb 02 2023 or 02 Feb 2023. Its easier to tell.

If you really want a long german word, well... here you have it: Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft. It is, to my knowledge (and I'm a German), not a real word, but more like a gag of making the longest word possible. It roughly describes a society of civil servants who build electrical parts for steamboats driving on the river Donau. But even I don't exactly understand it...
Wouldn't using a river with a longer name create even longer word? The possibilities :O

Month/Day/Year has a justification: if someone asks when some future thing is, they’ll probably say what month it’s in, then specify the day. The year is rarely needed unless you’re discussing the past of distant future.
