I practised my first watercolor landscape using this video. I've been watching so many different channels and they seem to think "beginner" means basic level. I have zero level, haha... I have never owned watercolor paints or paper until a few days ago. I really enjoyed this tutorial. Looking forward to more videos. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Glad it was helpful @TeeBoyd88 please check out the Autumn and Winter version. I’m sure you will enjoy those too 👍
Thanks so much Bill. I've watched many 'beginner's videos, only to find that the tutorial assumes a level of competence which is slightly daunting. Yours was truly inspirational!
So glad you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoy future tutorials. I post every Monday 😊
Thanks for posting a simple idea. Clearly explained and easy tp follow.
Thanks Delphine, I will be doing a few more in this series but the next video will be on skies and clouds (x6) so I hope you enjoy that one when its posted :)
Thank you
You're welcome 👍
Hi Bill, Lovely simple painting but still very efective. If ever you get a chance, could you do a video of a pretty in depth explanation of how to create the texture in expanses of lawn or short grass (like in your painting Portmarnock Golf Course County Dublin Ireland) and where to place the texture so it looks natural please? I know that I keep asking you these questions but you are one of the few people on here who actually listen to and try to help people who are struggling with certain elements of watercolour
Hi Colin, I Start with a light green wash and dry it. Then a darker wash adding in any variations in color before it dries too much. Then once dry use the dry brush technique(using the side of the brush) for tufts of grass and grass in shadows. Practice doing this on a spare piece of art paper first. The 300 lb Arches is best. You can try on 140 lb but bear in mind that weight dries much faster. I hope this helps. Experiment and practice and you’ll get it I’m sure. I'll try and incorporate this in a future video too.
Thank you very much. I'll practice that@@letspaintwatercolors
This is genius, thank you so much! I've never seen this cloud technique of painting *around* the wet spaces before, and I can't wait to try it for myself. Thanks again!
Glad I could help! Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks! I had a good time with it. Hadn't done any painting in a few days.
Great to hear you enjoyed it. We are adding some new videos to this series very soon 👍

I am not a beginner. However, I always find it very very helpful to return to the basics, especially when I am on a "creative slump". Thank you ever so much for this tutorial. Have just subscribed to your channel.
Great to hear it. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy my other videos 👍
I’m just getting back into watercolour painting after a fifteen year hiatus, starting a small group class tomorrow. I did this painting and was quite pleased with the result which has given my confidence a bit of a boost. Hopefully between the classes and your videos I’ll get to where I want to be. Thanks for the video.
This is so great to hear. Welcome back to watercolors! I hope my current and future videos help 🥳😊
Спасибо за урок! ❤
You are most welcome 👍
This was really interesting and fun to watch. Thank you for creating this tutorial, it was very helpful, and had lots of different techniques in it. I especially liked the way you created the trees, you made it look so easy! You have a very soothing voice as well as a relaxed teaching style. I subscribed today after watching this video. Have a great week!
Thanks so much for your kind words Carly. I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos on my channel. Bill

Lovely! Thanks
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Very good! Could you tell us more about the brushes you use ?
Thanks Marcio, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I mainly use Pro Art brushes. They are a little more expensive but the quality is unmatched in my opinion. A cheaper version and one I also use are Sable brushes which are linked in the description 👍
@@letspaintwatercolors Thank you very much! Your artwork is amazing!
Great work explained in simplicity.
Paper 300 GSM or 300 pounds?
Thank you, 140lbs is fine for beginners but 300lbs is more durable and can hold more washes 👍
