I tried turning the POWER button off while stopped at a traffic light while in Drive when I noticed the ECT PWR light on. My Manuel wasn’t helpful there. • @AM-nn9sv
      @AM-nn9sv Před 3 lety +4

      The small button in the main shift arm keeps the transmission from shifting into over drive. Or takes the transmission out of over drive (down shifts to third gear) when at a speed high enough for overdrive - fourth or top gear.
      When to use… towing, engine braking down hill… more torque going up hill.

    Never ever ever use diff lock in the highway. Only use the diff lock when stuck in mud, sand, snow or loose rocky terrain. If you are not moving and you wheels are caught with the diff lock on the diff will snap if you over rev it. Turn diff lock off when driving faster. If used at high speeds the diff may snap when turning.

    Pwr has nothing to do with ‘race car mode’…in case you didn’t notice, an LC100 ain’t exactely quick 😂
    It is used when requiring extra HP for eg towing applications. To make use of the max HP you need to be higher in the rev band than normal.
    That’s why many trucks have a towing button, to disable the overdrive (and with some to generally shift later)…

    When driving in FL rain, I have a drip coming down on drivers side onto my left foot. Do you think I have a leak coming from my windshield? I already blew out 4 out holes with an air compressor in sunroof. Then removed top rack, cleaned and put in temporary new screws with rubber washers in. This stopped leaks around seatbelts, not the leak in front.
    Also, old rack screws are rusted. Hence the reason for temporary screws but rack won’t fit over new screw heads.
    I tried Toyota dealerships for 98’ LC rack screws. No luck. Any suggestions where I can find replacement screws?

      I would say the answer to your question is "YES." You have already ruled out the sunroof drains (unlikely in the first place) and the roof rack (strong possibility in the first place). Your glass was probably replaced, and there are some *very* janky windshield replacements done on this vehicle. I would find a glass guy with experience on the J100 windshield.

    So does having the center diff unlocked give you the option of driving it in 4HI on pavement such as an AWD vehicle?
    Most 4x4 pick up trucks that have a standard transfer case is basically like having center diffs locked right? (Of course without the option to unlock it and therefore can’t drive it on pavement)

      Hello, cen yuo mike video how set cloc from toyota landcruiser 100. Thenks.

    • @mikeb53
      @mikeb53 Před 4 lety +5

      Basically, yes. A Land Rover, or a Toyota Land Cruiser are generally regarded as permanent 4WD. Though nowadays both are marketed as AWD I believe because that term is more known I guess. But getting back to the point, those permanent 4WD vehicles - usually - have a center diff, which can be locked. Either automatically by the car itself as in a Land Rover, or manually, as in a Land Cruiser. When those center diffs are unlocked you can drive the vehicle on the pavement as you would any other car. The center diff allows the front and rear drive shafts to turn at different speeds, which is necessary on a high friction surface like pavement when making a tight turn as the front wheels will need to turn more than the back wheels. A center diff allows this to happen.
      Pick up trucks are usually part time 4WD so is the Jimny part time 4WD. 2Hi is for use on pavement, in this situation only the rear wheels receive drive. The front drive shaft is disconnected from the transfer case, and the front wheels are not driven at all. So when turning corners, the rear differential will sort out the rotation requirements of the left and right wheels as you turn, so it drives like a normal 2WD car. When you go to 4Hi or 4Lo, you connect the front drive shaft to the transfer case, and now, both front and rear shafts will be turned at the exact same speed. Just like locking the center diff on a full time 4WD. So if you try to drive on pavement in 4Hi and make left and right turns, you will cause transmission wind up, and you will scrub your tyres on the road as the front wheels and the rear wheels will need to be driven at different rates, however, due to the way a part time 4WD transfer case works, this cannot happen. Thus your turning circle is greatly reduced and you risk breaking something.
      4lo? Same story, the only difference is you're going a lot slower as you engage the reduction gearing on the Transfer case. The only exception I know of to this rule, is the mitsubishi super-select 4WD, they have the option to have 2Hi, or 4Hi on the road, because they have 4Hi, and 4HiLC (the LC meaning, locked center.)

    When to use OD , by pressing the OD button it comes out of the lever shaft in dashboard it shows OD off , so it mean OD is off or they say plz turn off the OD......? when I press the OD button again it stuck inside and the OD off sign at dashboard disappears,
    So in normal driving should it be showing in dashboard at OD off or not.

    • @Feintgames
      @Feintgames Před 2 lety

      OD is overdrive. When you press that button, the overdrive function in the transmission is turned off. Now the automatic transmission won't shift into it's highest overdrive gear, or if it's already in that gear, it will switch out of it. The dash doesn't ask you to do anything ever. It's telling you, the overdrive is now disconnected because you activated that switch.
      You use the OD off switch when you are descending a hill to use engine braking more effectively at higher speeds, or when you are towing something. It reduces your fuel economy but ensures you're vehicle will have enough torque when going up a hill while towing.
