But, I always take it with a grain of salt and say “ Pasensya na,” ( just be patient). But the Pinoy has a lot more redeeming qualities I think.

Belated happy birthday! I barely got back for a brief vacation there. I must say that the norms that you mentioned were on point. Discipline and courtesy are two essential values that are unfortunately missing when it comes to lines and traffic. It’s very frustrating. If they only knew how much life can be less stressful if only we participate in these values. We’re thinking of retiring there. Your videos is a good way to remind us that when we’re there in the Philippines, let us not loose all the good things that we have here in the US. Kudos to your sensible videos.

I’m from so cal as well and was lucky enough to go to college out there. Please consider visiting Dumaguete and check out Silliman University. It is one of the top universities. It would be a great experience for the kiddos one day! Would be a great vlog visiting visayas like Dumaguete and Bacolod.
Also I can relate to the social norms you adjusted to. I would wear leggings and jackets all the time to prevent mosquito bites. The cutting in line! Lol I think best advice is the heat out there is no joke, I feel like a lost my temper many times with the added heat. Take it easy and take in that free ac at the malls lol

We moved there from the US but whenever we buy groceries, we just go to the nearby towns just outside BGC to buy our fresh seafoods, vegetables, dry goods, etc. but when it comes to meat, we go to a meat shop or at SM Supermarket. It will save you a lots of money.

if you have save lots of money consider to purchase a house and lot instead of renting on a condo. there were variety of options from a high end exclusive subdivision where you could enjoy their amenities. now if you prefer to save more money purchase your property in the province where the basic commodities are cheaper compare to the cities. Hope you would consider to do so in the future

I’m just like your husband born in the Philippines but moved to California at the young age of 7.
I had similar experiences with locals cutting in line while I patiently waited for my turn. I don’t think waiting in line is taught in school there and maybe that’s why it’s a common practice. Your whole family should start a movement by wearing shirts that says “NO CUTSIES” 😂
I did confront them on those multiple experiences and were apologetic.

Pinewoods in Baguio city, is a good place to find a vacation home and just get away from Manila's humid heat.

Personal space is a big thing I struggle with when I go visit.
We wear long sleeves to protect our skin from the sun. I would say a lot of foreigners find it bizarre when they first saw this.
I definitely don’t find it bizarre but it’s so hot, sometimes I don’t understand it 🤔
@@LLVT Unfortunately, Filipinos are influenced by other Asian societies where white/pale skin = rich/beautiful so in order to get whiter, whitening products become very popular and getting hit by sunlight means getting darker which they want to avoid.
Not surprising here in the states as well. I live in Las Vegas NV, we're in the desert where summer temperatures averages 110 degrees fahrenheit/43 degrees Celsius. You'll see teenage kids and adults alike no matter of the race wearing sweats and hoodies and the hoods on.
People cutting in line - rudeness - is universal . Happens everywhere.😒 But we did notice it more prevalent there every time we go home. Specially people who seem to be in the upper class - has to do with entitlement..or sometimes, the accepted practice for being in line is to really get close to the person in front of you...if there is a gap, they'll think you're not really in line...even if there are other people behind you. So be sure you're almost touching the person in front of you...
Playing favorites with the older kid and not showing any attention for Rowan? As a mom myself, I feel hurt that you show that your older boy is your favorite sitting beside you but not Rowan. Sorry don't get me wrong but hope you can prove us wrong.
You don’t know now here in California is too expensive the fast food $17.70 The Hamburger in Five guys and McDonald’s the price up too and small portions way more cheaper there
Getting in line is one of the biggest flaws of the people there… I know I’m a Filipino too!
The whole “line” concept is no bueno here though, there are no barriers and I can see how people sometimes don’t realize there’s a line.
It does happen everywhere though ,not just in the Philippines .Ive observed this annoying behavior in many countries Ive been to ,even here in the USA .

Not all of them but Philippine security guards often overdo their job. They power trip for the sheer pleasure of it. Not sure if it is inherent in Filipino DNA or not as it also manifests on Filipinos in high places. Certainly though this flair to show off their power is annoying...
