Those gunmen were kidnappers from my simple analysis, they intended to kidnap and demand for ransom but because escort was involved so they fled. When you get to the hospital with a condition like this, you may have gotten to the hospital when the man has stopped breathing , the nurses will know theres no signs of life and they would have informed the doctor on call, we call it " brought in dead", So theres no way he can be revived again, but it is doctors duty to confirm his death, so you probably will not see medical personnel doing any moves to revive patient that is already dead. If theres any sign of life, they are trained to revive. I'm a retired nurse and worked in emergency room for over 5 years, I encountered this back then.
