Colorism is REAL!!! And i agree with Spice! Darker skin girls definitely do not get the same treatment as lighter skin girls.
I am light skin and I don't get any treatment from anyone. I have been laughed at before plus we have all got issues and insecurities we deal with. Light skin, dark skin, blown skin, we all go through life.
Preach girl. Some of our own black man put us in that predicament like, "Nah she aint my type, she too dark." Black men you "fu**" up our mentality.
I'm Jamaican and understand Spice. Black skin girls sometimes get bashed for "she too dark," and at times get treated with less regard. My mom grew up light skin and that was an advantage back in her days to work a front office job. The truth of the matter is, all these women fake. Fake breast, fake eyelash, fake hair, fake skin color. Enough with the bashing each other. Take time to listen and respectfully share your views.
Gerturde Omaboe dark skin blacks are degrade on public platforms especially in hip hop music with very little push back from anyone. I even hear my white co workers talking about it and they are confused by it. Stop deflecting.
@@misstea-uu3nj how is she deflecting??? Smh...
Disclaimer: when Spice said "You've never been black!" she meant "Dark-Skinned" that's the Jamaican word for "Dark-Skinned".
Rochelle Gordon what is lighter skin called? black is actually a color not a skin tone. spice skin tone is actually a mocha a darker brown. white people made up these words white and black. black for people of african decent no matter what
@@rae7269 Jamaicans call light skin people brown and dark skin people black. That's just the terms that are used here.

When Spice Said “Your Not A Black Girl Mimi” She Was Saying Your Not A Darkskin Girl. In Jamaica If Your Talking About A Darkskin You Say “Black Girl, Black Skin” Etc. If Your Talking About A Lightskin Girl You Say “Brown Girl, Brownskin” Etc. Thank Me Later. 🤷🏾♀️
But are we in Jamaica? No so she knew exactly what she was saying.
@@okayand1508 Uhh she did not mean it lie that at all. Matter of fact after that she said you are not darkskinned. So her point was clear smh
@@malachistewart3837 and the fact that she said the word "colourism" about 40 times 😂 I'm light skinned and never been to Jamaica (my family is Brazilian, French and East African) but even I knew what she meant. Scrappy and Joc having a debate on black women's hair has made my day 😂😂 "But that's what society tells them bruh" 😁❤
People don’t get it. It is different being a dark skin or brown skin black woman versus the lighter toned black women. And blacks definitely make fun of their own people.
Shani E I think people just don’t want to admit it because it causes you to look inside yourself. There’s a lot of black hypocrisy. Spice is right .
Shani E i am light skinned and a black woman. why am i called brown by white people then?
Light skinned people get it hard too. How would you feel if your own people wouldn’t accept you because of your skin tone and presume things about you just because you look “yellow”?
Her her The name of the song is black hypocrisy
You are so right about that because on my job my supervisor said to me one day oh you are so dark and I told her well at least I know who my father is a black man where she don't even know her father is because her mother so busy working the pole LOL you come after me I'm a come after you sorry to say just stay in your lane
How Karlie supposed to be from the Caribbean and not see anyone bleaching. Hell they bleach in America too👀💅.
Sharon Jones Rihanna is just light, that’s the problem y’all think every light skin person bleached when these people are literally just light skinned. Nicki did bleach but not Rihanna or Beyoncé, they both have a lot of white in them.
I guarantee you any money every person on Love & Hip Hop is bleaching your skin and using face products to make they self look lighter with makeup whether it's weave hair color clothes they're all doing it
Trinidad doesn’t have bleachers. We have colourism but not bleachers. So Karlie ain’t lie. The Jamaicans in Trinidad do that.

@@kyaria8888 so does that erase all the B.S that dark skin women go thru? The fact that you are trying to minimize their struggle is proving spice’s point.

Spice wasn’t saying Mimi isn’t a black woman racially, she was saying Mimi isn’t ‘black’ aka DARK SKINNED. She’s not stupid, we can call see Mimi is a black woman in terms of race. Different cultures use ‘black’ pejoratively as a colorist way to describe very dark skin complexions...
She still sound DUMB..Its her own deeeep insecurities showing up
Black is black ... dark or light she’s still black so what’s the point of saying that black is only for darker person..
Exactly. In some places “black” doesn’t even refer to your skin at all, it refers more to your socioeconomic status.
Ruru Home thanks 💯 it’s always our ppl who don’t get it unless it’s affecting them

Spice was referring to “Black” as Darker skin...
Mimi is considered darkskin in some circles so she went through the same thing as spice and is not bleaching xoxo
Spice done lost her mind. She need to lay off that self hate
clear as crystal it was a publicity /marketing strategy to have a discussion about prejudice in the black community. Spice DOES NOT hate herself. She was trying to bring awareness. Arnelia Short no. Y’all were not listening. Mimi was telling her that she shouldn’t actually bleach her skin. Spice was actually going to bleach if not for Mimi and the doctors
Yourbaby Tee spice was never going to bleach her skin. They sat there and yelled at her about making her skin light for awareness but won’t say a damn thing about actual colorism. FOH.
ZhanaeWoods no on started yelling till she got hella defensive and started yelling first. Like we’re we watching the same thing ?
Yourbaby Tee Y’all American girls weren’t listening either. She was never going to bleach her skin. She literally walked around white and went straight back after the album dropped. It was not only publicity for the album but a way to open the conversation. Y’all missed the point because you like the racism. It was just about her changing her color to y’all not the bigger picture. At the time her friend Vybz Kartel had bleached himself with cake soap, it was a big conversation in Jamaica. She’s very clever, and she played it well. Y’all played right into it.

THEY WERE WRONG FOR REACRING TO SPICE LIKE THAT WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT CONCEPT SHE WAS COMING FROM.
They were sort of right tho, she gave white people the satisfaction of her wanting to be white now. She's beautiful as a dark skin and I agree with them, she does look black trying to be white. js saying, if my friend bleached her darkskin to white, I'd lose my mind too.

Crazy of all people, I hate having the colorism discussion with; light skin women and black men. Sad I almost equate it to discussions of racism with white people..
You end up yelling like Spice,
“You will never understand”!!!
being light you face being ostracized by her own people saying she was not black. There is a light struggle because you come across people within your own race passing judgement on you that you are a certain way when it's not true. You face people around you seeing you don't belong but then white people will remind you each l quick you black. You have to prove you can fight because for some reason girls just don't like you. Bill Duke made the specials " dark girls" and "light girls" because they are individual struggles. Until both sides understand the other genuinely it will stay fucked up
I am a caramel skin tone but I completely understand the argument that spice had. I get it. & it’s sad that people refuse to see that point of view. THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE TREATED WORSE IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY & we know it
Exactly
Please, dark skinned people LOVE to hate on light skinned blacks just cause they get treated differently by ANOTHER race. Letting outside forces divide you with your own damn people. Shit is ridiculous.
s j s j I definitely recognize that we all have our battles. Keep in mind that you didn’t say “light skin” struggles. You really said (to me) mixed race struggles and jealous women struggles.
Dark skin struggles rarely have an upside. You can still will feel glorified for your skin and hair.
I don’t see too much of the ‘upside’ other than being exploited by the fashion industry
I believe once y’all realize how much you benefit from it. And recognize situations when it is occurring and speak up there would be more peace between us
Who know spice especially we Jamaicans know that spice love her complexion asf and they know she respect it. This was all a publicity stunt. So amma just sit bk and watch these ppl looking confuse and have a laugh

You can take implants out. You can put on weave today and wear your natural hair tomorrow.
That's a fashion statement.
But to lighten your entire complexion sounds more like your self esteem was destroyed.

But here in the States no matter of your skintone you're black. To us in the US Mimi is black and Spice is Black. No matter of your skintone you are Black so you have look at it in the American way as well.
I totally understand how spice feels, I'm darker than my siblings an have very coarse hair & they always tell me to stay out the sun & straighten my hair. It definitely gets under your skin but you shouldn't let people win that battle! Spice has beautiful chocolate skin and I am glad she didn't bleach. Dont let this fake social.media age that chooses to depict light as right....thats fake news...
You guys still spoon-feeding yourself the Jim crow shit that they said would take over a thousand years to undo👏👏
I know colorism exists and its fucked up. But...damn.....do you think that shit hasnt happened to us light-skinned folks, too? You wouldnt know cause you havent walked in our shoes either. I am tired of black folks questioning my blackness....EXACTLY LIKE SPICE DID. Im black all day and tomorrow until I die. Dont try to minimize us like we dont matter..... just the dark-skinned plight....
Congratulations.....you guys still dividing us on some bs.....#WhiteManStayWinnnning
What I don't like is the display of colorism by spice towards Mimi. She discounted her blackness due to her lighter skin. That's the brainwash. The dark don't see the light skin struggle. Then the light don't see the dark struggle. It's mutual disrespect within one group based off of manipulation of an outside group. THIS IS THE EFFECTS OF COLORISM ON BOTH SIDES
@@ImperfectlyPerfect07 agreed!
Mimi did go hard on her... but I think it was more out of concern because that shit is dangerous and can affect you and your offspring and it can cause skin cancer which is rare in melinated ppl... spice is the only one with the issue even when she spoke to the doctor who was trying to help her understand what she was doing she got pissed because the doctor wanted to follow proper protocol.. spice is a certified nut case
@roisin culler all your statements are valid however in relation to the black race look up the willie lynch written work. Im paraphrasing but he said to keep them separate put different drops of white blood so what is produced is feared. Thats why the lighter were in the house and the they were not truly accepted amongst blacks or whites. In terms of this discussion and in context of spice she is referring to her own race saying she is less. She said it outright she was not referencing eurpoean point of view. Colorism in our community goes so deep that dark skin will call another dark skin black and ugly and in the same breathe say that light skin girl think she cute or better. So I correct myself and we will call it reverse colorism because there is a light struggle because you come across people within your own race passing judgement on you that you are a certain way when it's not true. You face people around you seeing you don't belong but then white people will remind you each l quick you black. You have to prove you can fight because for some reason girls just don't like you. Bill Duke made the specials " dark girls" and "light girls" because they are individual struggles. Until both sides understand the other genuinely it will stay fucked up
that “hey ladies” took me out 😂😂
Lmao joe and scrappy is hilarious 😂😂😂lol their faces tho
