- In a previous beekeeping inspection I discovered that this one Horizontal beehive was not doing well. The space available the bees was reduced hoping they would recover ---

...and that leads us to this video where we get to see how they are doing. Generally speaking I really like the Horizontal style beehive. I believe this hive style is better for the bees and for the beekeeper. We'll see how the vertical Langstroth hives are doing in the next beekeeping video ....

Chapter 1 of our bee story will begin next spring. Its not even fall yet and we cant wait lol. Love your videos, thanks for sharing your story with us. Cheers
I was wondering how the bees were doing. That first Long Lang is going to be bustin' with bees soon! Thanks for sharing your story with us Blake!!
I am so glad you survived our Texas Polar Vortex ((from hades!))
That was odd and damaging for sure.
😂
You sure have a lot of medium frames in your deep long hive. I have one in my LLH too. I would have loved to have seen the elders working bees with you.
Bees are looking good! How've you been? Looks like I missed a couple of your videos. Been so busy here. Glad I caught this one.
I understand busy! We've been doing fine, just a long list of things to do that never gets shorter.
I'm so happy see the bees!!!
I think they are happy to see me too... I think
Also, you are getting so much better at queen spotting!
That hive you were worried about looks as if it is very busy & is making up for lost time.
Indeed they have made up for lost time! I'm very happy to see that one on the rise.
hey bud. 1 Now have 1 of 4 long langstroths built. and will be putting up a vid soon. that first hive looks a little weak you may think if you have a few of brood frames from a strong hive you may want to take and shake off the bees and build the brood up. One day I would love too take a trip and work bees one day LOL.
Thank you for that advice. I should have done that 2 weeks ago when they were looking very weak, but now it seems that they are rebuilding fine. I will keep that in mind.
Keep going bud you were doing well in 2017 2018 2019 and a bit of 2020 now 2021 not getting as much views but keep going
Did you re Queen those hives they have really calmed down.
I did not add new queens. Most of the time my bees are tolerable. Normally when they get "hot" I attribute it to the weather or my mishandling.
I hv a question
Is the divider board nessecary?
Can you just let one colony take the whole hive?
Do you ever get stung through those gloves
It has happened once or twice, but it never digs in. For the most part these 8mm Nitrile gloves are "sting proof". I'll deal with the occasional tiny sting to have my dexterity. Those bulky leather gloves are hard to work in.
