  • A DOCUMENTARY ON GLOBAL MUSIC PHENOMENON ‘BROS’
    THE PRODUCERS OF CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ‘ONE DIRECTION 3D: THIS IS US’ & ‘I AM BOLT’
    After the screaming stops is a powerful, raw and fascinating insight into one of pop’s original boy bands.
    In the 1980s, “Bros" were one of the biggest bands in the world... for 15 minutes. Having sold out stadiums around the world, they are the youngest to this day to play Wembley Stadium and their “Push” album went to Number 1 in over 20 countries, selling 10 million copies worldwide.
    The rise and fall of Bros was meteoric. After three years of hysteria where ever they went, the documentary deals with the fragility of fame and the heartbreak that followed.
    This film charts twins Matt and Luke Goss's reunion 28 years on, having hardly spoken and not played together since their split. With an incredibly fractured relationship and only 3 weeks to go until sell-out gigs at The O2 London, will they be able to put their history aside and come together as brothers to play the show of their lives?

    Sooo loved them, when I was 14. They looked as a young gods and all the boys around, who wanted to be cool, tried to copy their style. Still remember, how heartbroken I was, when they split. Now I'm 44 and this documentary brought me so many nostalgic memories. Thank you, Bros!

    When the tour was over, Luke Goss returned to the US - exhausted. He went into the desert to find himself again and this resulted in his book Desert Conversation. A must read.

    I can’t explain it however, it is obvious they had, and still have a G*D given talent that few have ever possessed.
    Their talents never needed to be honed because they were a gift.
    It seems to me that world wide there was a unfathomable envy of these two people.
    I am sorry that the Gods brothers had so many obstacles. It quite clear that the stress of stardom and envy they encountered became toxic to their family life.
    I am rooting for you guys. You brought joy to a lot of people by sharing your talents together.
    My hope is for nothing but happiness for both you and hope to see you on stage soon.❤
    I hope you’re OK.

My first memory of Luke Goss is from when he portrayed Nomak, brilliantly, in Blade II and late I recognized him in Unearthed and again in Hellboy II: The Golden Army when he played Price Nuada but I had no clue he was a former drummer in a top of the charts brit band. Definitely going to give this one a go.

They only topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, and Aus. In the US they only made it onto the dance chart. Which means, the only people who heard their stuff here were in clubs and prolly didn't even know the bands name.

    Bros were very bothered about how so many people hated them and would swear at them in the street. The reason for that was because they were not the real deal, but arrogantly wanted everyone to think they were. If you read their record sleeves it tells you the songs were written by 'The Brothers' - reading it you were meant to think that was Matt and Luke. 'The Brothers' was actually a pseudonym for their producer. Most of the instruments were played by session people, yet they talked like they were a real band, the real deal, rather like The Smiths or U2 - and THAT is what annoyed people.

    • @robertsinnerman7804
      @robertsinnerman7804 Před 5 lety

      Very true. One of "The Brothers" was a writer on Ant n Dec's "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble" and also wrote for the likes of Shakin Stevens.

    • @smattgoss
      @smattgoss Před 5 lety +3

      True but it was matt who made them songs what they were and it was nicky Graham who did bass and drums on the first album. But who played live on stage ask yourself that. Graham did what he did purely because Watkins there manager had just bought all the new equipment and Graham had something to prove. There second album matt & luke had full Input. Instruments and writing the songs

      So what. Michael Jackson. Madonna, Whitney Houston - All did the same. Sold hundreds of millions. Elvis Presley and Ray Charles too. To actually ACHIEVE this number of record sales, you have to hype yourself up. It's about the Performer - the mystery around the recording artist as a Star. Not about some fat middle-aged bloke in a sweaty garage who wrote the songs. That, my friend, is the way of the Record INDUSTRY. I's an industry and is hyped to generate mass sales. And in an INDUSTRY you need a core target market. And that core target market (16-21 year old girls) could not give a rats arse who wrote the songs or which session musicians played the instruments. They are buying into a brand.
      Your comment makes as much sense as criticizing owners who buy a luxry BMW, turn left when borading a plane, or check in to a highly exclusive hotel. They could buy a FIat Panda, fly cattle class or check into a dingy BnB. Simularly, a person could choose to buy a Smiths or U2 record because ''they talk like they are a real band, the real deal, rather like The Smiths or U2''. Absolutely NO ONE should slag off anyone's right to enjoy their personal media or tastes.

    As a result of taking themselves far too seriously in the 80s, their critics eventually overtook their fans. Having seen some of their solo material over the last decade, I thought they had grown up. Luke certainly has, but Matt is lost in an egotistical world of his own. This documentary has made them a laughing stock again, to the point that I feel sorry for them.
