When chased by a tornado, do *NOT* shelter under an overpass. Overpasses are debris filled, wind tunnel effect *death traps* when a tornado moves over them.
Here's what I'm thinking. In the beginning the girl is using dorothy V to probe tornadoes with her friends in college.(This is explained in the backstory and I can see this as a way in for Helen Hunt as her original idea was similar.) Because you only see Dorothy with the college kids and never in any scene's with Glenn Powell's truck. And the scene where they're supposedly talking about destroying a tornado, I think when she says "We never had a chance", I think she is explaining to Powell's character about that chase(in the beginning of the trailer) that went horribly wrong. Expecting them to turn the overpass scene into a WHAT NOT TO DO scenario if any of her friends die.
I've watched Twister multiple times, since I was 3 years old. While the tornadoes in the original are not really there, the effects and CGI are, in my opinion, the best outside of actual IRL tornado footage.
As a huge fan of the original, the sequel looks spectacular, and appears to understand what made the original so inspiring and amazing. They've kept the Dodge Ram (the red one appears to be a gen 3 or 4, not the gen 2 "macho" design), and the CGI for the tornadoes looks to be above par compared to the original.
My only criticisms are
1) The drills on the truck. While actually employed by real life tornado intercept vehicles, those same vehicles are also designed with a skirt and suspension system that sucks the vehicle to the ground, so the wind can't get underneath and lift the vehicle up. I do still love the truck in the trailer anyways, considering it's a badass offroader.
2) The reuse of the Dorothy intercept probe. Since the 1996 movie, tornado intercept probes have come a very long way, and are usually very short and stout. Dorothy is very susceptible to debris. While I get the continuity, I think they should've iterated on the design to a more modern probe take, such as Tim Samaras' probes.
I am very excited to see the movie regardless. I'm planning on going for the IMAX experience just for all the energy. My only hope is that they use Humans Being in the film as well, considering that track was *made* for Twister and is a huge part of the original film's identity. Considering a 2023 remaster was released about 6-7 months ago, I have a good feeling it might show up again.
Fun fact: they shot a majority of this movie in okalahoma during tornado season (April to July) which practically makes sense.

definitely wanting to watch this around release, it actually has potential to surpass the original, and the CGI looks spectacular, especially compared to that obomination that was Into the Storm.
Tbh I did enjoy it, but doesnt even hold a match compared to Twister. truly looking forward to seeing how this movie compares.
If only Bill were here to see this.

The film did not make me afraid of tornadoes, on the contrary, it inspired me to learn about weather and news. My interest was piqued by their heroism in the film! In my childhood, I had a friend who was crazy about the weather, and it scared the crap out of me.
Ive been a fan of the original movie since i was a kid. Most of the scenes were favorites of mine to this day. The opening scene, the ditch sequence, the waterspouts, the flying cow, the drive in tornado sequence, and the f5 sequence at the end.

You remember the Mossy Grove TN tornado on Veterans Day in 2002? I remember seeing this movie and it got me into tornadoes which I'm a spotter and a chaser. Ironically when the trailer dropped I was near Tuscaloosa dealing with a strong storm and it felt like a sign from the chaser gods lol

You got Glen Powell (Douchebag from Top Gun: Maverick) Anthony Ramos (homie from the recent Transformers movie) Brandon Parea (Angel from Nope) Kiernan Shipka (aka Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and the new Superman actor.

Now I'm a pessimist and a cynic especially when it comes to remakes/sequels of classics. The original Twister was a movie I grew up watching on VHS over and over again at. my grandparents' house. That movie has never felt like a Hollywood disaster movie to me. I can't explain what kind of movie the original feels like in all honesty. Maybe it's because Twister is one of my favorite movies of all time, but this trailer feels real MID to me. This trailer makes this movie feel like a San Andreas, 2012 type disaster movie. They're fun, but not necessarily great movies. Which they don't have to be, but still. Also, when they talk about destryoing a tornado my mind instantly goes to flashbacks related to Sharknado. Literal chills. Anyway, I will probably feel the same about Twisters as I do about Wonka. The movie was fine, some parts even pretty good, but it won't come close to the original by any stretch of the imagination. I know its's unrealistic to expect it to be even close to as good as the original. But trying to capture the essence of other charaters by loooks or personality feels disingenuous to me. Like when Glen Powell is yelling in the trailer he looks a lot like Bill Paxton, then with a blonde Daisy Edgar-Jones, and the guy that yells "It's twins!" in the trailer seemingly having a similar personality to Dusty from the original. It just doesn't sit right with me. But I guess that's just me being a picky cynic that is too 'protective' of my favorite classic movies.

Won't be the same without Bill Paxton. The original Twister may have been bad but and a but goofy, but it baddest and goofiest is what makes it interesting to watch. I watch this trailer and it looks they're taking it more serious than the original one did.
I read a line somewhere that this movie is along the lines of what he wanted however, with the central character being Bill and Jo's daughter.
I’ve seen a lot of positivity for this and I’m feeling pretty mixed. I like the guys here was saw it in theaters, and I do live in an area with some tornadoes. We had one later that year that didn’t damage my house but helped instill a lifelong fear of tornadoes. Anyway, I love the film now, but I’m not feeling this sequel/remake.
Did we need a remake of twister? No not really I didn't hear from anybody if they wanted the remake at all.
Not a remake, a sequel, but still, didn't need it. Especially one trying to go Top Gun: Maverick or Tron Legacy, but instead just falls flat like Independence Day: Resurgence, Pacific Rim: Uprising, or Blues Brothers 2000.
