I'm buying this game. So many people are getting so offended, and I think it's stupid. Personally, I think this game will be great because it's giving us what I believe will be a VERY different environment. When I try to think of the amount of games that are based in a rural area of the United States, I can't think of ONE that was really that great, and I really do think that the devs of FC5 are onto something.
The last of us? Completely different genre of course but a lot of that game was in rural America and it was incredible.

I agree completely. Don't try and reinvent the wheel, just put some spinners on it and give me some snow or off-road variations to the vanilla model.
For instance: On a personal insignificant opinion level I always think back to the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. I loved the Batmobile as unnecessary as it was but it made me feel like The Batman. The Bat Tank was, in my opinion, the worst thing to ever happen to any franchise. It was a neat idea in concept, but the whole thing about "WE NEEDED TO ADD GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS TO AN ALREADY GREAT GAME BECUASE THE COMMUNITY COMPLAINED THAT THEY WERE BORED FROM PLAYING THE OTHER GAME SO MUCH BECAUSE THEY LOVED IT AND DON'T UNDERSTAND PORTION CONTROL" really ruined the pacing of the game as a whole. Deathstroke and Alter-Ego Arkham Knight should have been THE MOST MEMORABLE boss fights in the series but instead they are clunky tank battles with suboptimal controls and frustrating mechanics/plot contrivances.

"Far Cry 5 is just another Far Cry game" this is the dumbest complaint I've ever heard about a video game! It's called Far Cry! It's supposed to be like the other games in the series! It's supposed to keep the same core mechanics! Just like Super Mario games all involve running, jumping, and power-ups, Far Cry games involve shooting, towers, and outposts/camps.
Chieff Rocka can't talk sense to these people mate, it's mission impossible.
Those kinds of comments are made by people who like FarCry but feel bad they dont' have a PC or console to play them.

Your character is already confirmed to be a sheriff sent to arrest the cult leader. Things go wrong because that is how far cry games usually start.

Still hate how every new modern game (and all Far Cry games) have to include wallhack tags over every single enemy.
Just ruins games to have that feature. Zero suspense in combat or infiltrations because you always know 100% where everyone is, even through walls. Nobody can sneak up on you, you dont need to have any spatial awareness what so ever. It's just a dumb turkey-shoot. The games almost play themselves, aim at red marker, run at red marker, shoot, aim at next red marker.
Thank god some games let you turn them of, but even so it comes with a huge penalty to how the game is designed from the ground up, in Far Cry Primal for example almost a third of all the perks and skills become grayed out and useless because they were specifically designed around these dumb wallhack systems.
Ghost Recon Wildlands did it quite well though, even when turning off all the markers, you still can use the drone and its upgrades still matter, as you visually can spot enemies and remember their location (you know, in your actual human brain, you know, the thing we dont need to use in games with wallhack tags anymore)

you are so right. at most have the tag wear off after some time like the enemy awarness does. also enemy awarness needs to go, that white meter that says "enemy sees you but stand still so they can fully figure out if your a bad guy". if they see you they should get ready right there and fight. another issue i have is that you can have someone be mauled by a dog and the guy 10 feet away cant hear that??

Apparently you can find 'Nick' or not... it's up to you. But Sally will advise that you should meet 'Nick', Doyle will suggest that 'Nick up North' can give you more details about a town, everyone will tell you that 'Nick' has a plane and 'Nick' seems to know the entire area much better than anyone else. You don't need to meet 'Nick', but something tells me we will.

Tag enemy, summon dog. Tag enemy, summon plane. Tag enemy, summon friend. What happened to challenge in games? It's supposed to be a fricking survival game, why do you have a bulletproof dog and the air force covering you at all times?

This game looks good and the dog seems to be a great edition for the stealth aspect of the far cry games however I will say that based on this little footage we have I can see where people who are saying it is too similar to old far cry games are coming from. But I'd say it's too early to tell if it is going to be similar. I'm probably still going to try this out though because I enjoy the far cry games, especially for the stealth.

Sure it is, that's why it is far cry 5 and not new ip. They are done with the towers, it have evolved. but you're still liberating stuff and you're still having other similar mechanics, same kind of weapons wheel and so forth. but unlike most other game series it is a new story, not continuing on something else.

As someone who grew up through their childhood in a smalltown cult in upstate New York and moved across the nation primarily to get away, I'm very intrigued by this game and definitely am excited to see how the story plays out.

Just want to point out how refreshing (and realistic) it is that for once, not every other AR you see is a generic Kalashnikov platform. I didn't see any 1911s or AKs, or M60s. It's just so nice.

Gunplay looks the same as farcry 3. In other words a downgrade from farcry 2. Graphics looks the same as every other modern ubisoft game thats come out since watch dogs. Im not sold on this but I hope ill be suprised.

Its true that I am an arrogant bell end. However, my point about the graphics are less about the technical fidelity and more to do with the bland art direction. In my opinion it could do with a bit more of a stylized look.

you play as a cop, which is good as in previous far cry games you played character that have 0 combat experience...in 3 and 4 anyways
Smaller towns in the United States don't have much in the way of law enforcement. I know of a town that has no police of its own and has two county sheriff deputies come by every once in a while.
