I bought a 2620S straight edger and it wobbled a bit from all the torque. I threw a new SRM225 on the edger and put the 2620S on the SRM225. Was the easiest engine swap I’ve ever done. Both tools are just perfect now and they both have Darwins grips.

That sthil problem where it Boggs down and goes back up happens to all 20 of our Fs 90s. Sthil is absolutely terrible unless its a fs131 or 131r and even those we have had problems with them straight out the dealer. Sent them back and they put new carbs and tuned them and said they were fixed only to do the exact same thing 4 hours into the day. Echo has never let me down not once other than power but like you stated of you want to cut thicker stuff then get a stronger trimmer but sthil has definitely let us down big time. Only thing that we love about sthil is their BR600 and 700s those are GREAT and reliable as hell, 4 seasons in and still starts first crank

    • @dylanneal6363

I replaced my 130r sthil with a Echo 3020t after the 4 Mix System failed (Cam gear shaft hole) on the Sthil. I wanted a weedeater that was basically the same power wise on paper but without the 4 mix problems. I thought the 130r was powerful but this Echo 3020t is a night and day difference. Plus it has traditional 2 stroke reliability. I had my guard off my 130r because it just didn't cut enough with it on for me. But the 3020t has a 20in cutting area with the guard on and I really like that. My 130r would bog down on some really thick stuff without the guard but I have yet to bog down the 3020t and I really tried. If you ever get a chance to try out a 3020t I highly recommend doing so. You'll end up loving the power.

I love my FS90R. I hear the 2620t has more power but I just don’t see how it can be that much better than a 4 cycle with crazy low end torque like the Stihl. I’ve seen comparisons and the Stihl doesn’t seem to be much worse than the Echo. I do like Echos edgers, hedge trimmers, and blowers, but for a trimmer with low end torque the Stihl is my favorite.

  • @heavymechanic2

I'm not sold on the 4-Mix engines because the valves need adjusting and the gaskets seem to leak air burning down the trimmer engine (voids warranty) even if there is more torque at the gear head. Three years ago I bought a SRM225 and its been a real workhorse on our property renovations. I used STIHL oil and it always had a problem with spooge in the muffler, changed the oil to universal 50/40 synthetic from Lowes and no more issues with grease leaking from the muffler. The Japan built engines from ECHO are bulletproof with proper care. I can't say anything good about the Asian parts STIHL is using as the quality has cheapened over the years to require replacement of power equipment as a business model (L00k at the warranty). *I am an equipment mechanic (not small engine)
