FYI that’s not how you calculate your horsepower per tonne, but instead the pound per horsepower. If you want horsepower per tonne, divide your car’s horsepower number by your car’s weight (converted into tonne).

the a45 has a soft launch mode that you could've used...also you don't need to put it into "sport handling mode" to access launch control. but both cars are pretty evenly matched
I‘m so looking forward to the a45s wich will come end of 2019 i guess. Thats gonna be insane with around 421 hp and the new facelift will also look very very hot with the new amg family-like front

Both are my favourite hot hatches,cracking video. A45 would extra nice with sport cat,golf full miltec .😉
Great video guys. My pick would be the A45AMG as it is a bit more hardcore. I actually uploaded a depreciation analysis of the A45 AMG to my channel last week. Especially the pre-facelift version is not doing too bad anymore depreciations wise. Those are just great value for money.

For launch control in my A45 at least I have to plant my foot hard on the brake in Manual mode + Traction off with white temps (2014).

The launch control works. Depress the brake as much as you can… it has to be pressed a fair amount to activate launch

8:50 4.2 does a M140i gps measured the golf does it in 4.4 also gps. Of course you get 4.2 downhill!

As for looks amg looks sexy no doubt about it. I love the golf due to its interior with the infotainment system and lcd cockpit feature.

Hi Luke, How about a back to back comparison of a golf R with DCC, and not? Many prospective buyers would like this as its not possible to arrange at a dealer.
You should use any 0-100 gps app for your 0-60(0-100kph) runs. Also any db metering app would suffice too. Keep it up!
Thanks Jonty! A decidel meter is normally used but I forgot it when filming this episode! Also, a dragy gps unit is something I'm after to make the tests more accurate

If you want to rev up your VW golf 7R more than 4000 rpm, just put it in neutral
Turn traction control off and you’ll be able to redline it from a start

Guys if you want to exactly measure the 0 to 60 times you can’t use the phone... there is the human error when you tap the phone, and you might lose a few milliseconds, you have to use the exact gps measurements, there are some apps that do that.
Like the golf but its a little bit plain, maybe give it a new paint job but thats up too you, liked the video overal.
The golf r and gti have always been more "conservative" I for one appreciate it but I understand where you are coming from

The a45 its not a good match/comparison for golf r. Its should be ford focus rs or the audi S3. Just my opinion. But its still fun to watch. Good job mate.

@@jordantowers28 yes what i mean is audi S3. For me a45 and rs3 is in another level of hot hatch.
golf r competitor is a45. rs3 is 2.5 litre with 5 cylinder which produces almost 400hp.
@@asrulshah2716 FL a45 is around 380 bhp and rs3 nearly 400. Also they are similar prices new. Golf r even though the same engine size as the a45 is over 80 bhp down on the a45 in standard form. Stage 1 golf r could be compared to an a45

I have a stage 2 MK7 DSG golf R 400BHP and a stage 2 A45 won’t beat a stage 2 golf r
Thats for sure. VAG EA888.3 can be tuned very easily in combination with DSG gearbox and than it can beat easily stage 2 tuned A45. Golf R and GTI are one of the best cars for tuning. RS3 is completely different league.

If you spent the same amount of money on your R with mods vs what he spent on his AMG stock, you would utterly destroy the AMG with still a lot of money left over....while still getting better gas mileage. Your R is bigger, is more comfortable and has a better trunk (boot for you Brits). HOWEVER, having said that, the AMG just looks too damn good, sounds great and has a real nice interior. If money were no object, it's what I would buy. In full disclosure, I actually have a stage 2 GTI as my daily driver and a C63S AMG. So I somewhat have the best of both worlds. THANKS for the video!

What was the 0-60 times all about hahaha. I’ve driven Both and the a45 is a better drivers car but to live with the golf r is a better car. So I would have the golf r. On 2nd thoughts I’ll take the a45. No the golf 45. Aaaahhh can’t make my mind up 😫
