This is by far the most impressive judgeship interview i have watched. Advocate Wilson answered every question well. Even the tricky questions that could have caught him out were answered well. He is a sharp legal mind. Well done.

Let's give him the Job already. So excited to see how he goes on as a judge. My suspicion is that this is the first stage in his quest for the Constitutional Court.

Adv Wilson is so articulate and clear to understand. He sounds knowledgeable, I'm not talking about law, since I am not qualified to judge his knowledge of the law. I am talking about the understanding of social issues in the country. Solid candidate

For this channel to grow could it's owners please include important cases and ground breaking judgements and the commentary thereon ensuing. I think it's important for people to understand the way the law works too and discussing legal matters perhaps with animations would be most beneficial for all South Africans. It's a great way to lift the veil if the judiciary and bring their work more into the light . Judges don't tend to be public people but a channel like this can bring the issues they deal with more into the spotlight to promote rule of law.

I must say that Judge Wilson was a worthy candidate to be appointed. About the interview, I have the following to say:
    1. He skillfully dodged the issue of subjectivity and the rule of law.
    2. I liked the last commissioner who couldn't understand the brouhaha around his dual citizenship.
    3. The LC JP was a tad unfair and left me confused. The Constitution IS the Supreme law of the land and permeates almost every aspect of the law. How does the JP then argue that constitutional principles are of limited application in the majority of cases. What about s39? To venture further by holding that the Constitution doesn't really apply to criminal matters was preposterous.
    4. If ever there was a candidate to be fast-tracked to the Constitutional Court, it is Judge Wilson. I'm not sure why he felt that he had to remain at the high court and thereafter in an acting stint at the SCA for many more years to come.
    5. Commissioner Ngcukaitobi really went in there, but the response by Wilson was stinging, implying that Ngcukaitobi, with his characterization of s25 as revolutionary was the one who was being an optimist.
No doubt one of the finest members of our bench!

Great candidate. Glad to see he got the gig. I must say though, I saw deliver him the judgment in the Shoba matter, although a guilty verdict was the only logical ruling, I felt much of his ratio decidendi was based on him filling in the many gaps which the prosecution had failed to cover. The prosecution was poor in that case. A braver, more literalist judge might have reached a different verdict.
