i love how dean is going away from the pressure of making songs that pleases his audience all the way. he's making an album HE can be proud of and feels the quality of, while still making sure it's still something people can empathize and enjoy. in the end, it's all about music for him: not the charts, not the money. living an authentic life and being content with oneself. that is what makes dean, dean. i love it (and i likeeee ittttt) god ic an't help my self ok lmao
I KNOW! SO GLAD! That only means we get to have authentic music to listen to!!! Stuff I like! Soundcloud swag!!!! I don’t listen to american mainstream!! So thank you Dean! I only listen to christian rap/contemporary (LOL), then soundcloud/“underground” artists, independent, and of course lots of korean artists because korean artists are really the independent swag.. I appreciate artists who make everything on their own :) ..even though independent can mean not having a label.. my definition of independent is artist who control most of their music production on their own. The song instagram is so like a soundcloud track! Plain electric guitar riffs/melody! x) So yea.. I like the swag of Crush, Zion T., Dean, & many others...

Dean is simply a person just like the rest of us who has feelings of course. I truly know that not only me but many people will be able to relate to this new song/album bc it is very depressing getting on instagram, and it's definitely a waste of time, but for some reason im always drawn back to it. I hate that I constantly compare myself to others so much, it kinda makes me lose some confidence in myself at times, and it makes me feel even more depressed than I already am. Everything he said in this interview relates to me so much!! This album definitely will console me! Dean is one of those artists who's music I constantly go to no matter what mood im in, and he's gotten me through some of the toughest and darkest times in my life just from listening to his music. I have so much love and respect for him and I wish him the best in everything !!! ❤🙏

He basically wrote a song that suits for almost everyone who has Instagram, he spoke for everyone, and I bet almost everyone can relate to the song.
Yup! Even if you don't do Instagram you can still relate it to twitter or any social media XD. It's practically almost impossible for any to not relate to this song. Especially the younger generation.

Yeah, yeah I know, I'm talking in the sense his personal side. I only listened to his songs and in SMTM I couldn't get a good sense of what he is like as a human being (in contrast to his work as an artist). like, I know some of his songs, I know he is really famous right now but didn't know him at all besides that.
Dean just aids my soul. He is so sweet and just so peaceful i can just tell that is a kind person and also he is so inspiring

i remember when i heard of dean the first time. i listened his songs on soundcloud, i was obsessed with his debut album but i didn't know about his looks AT ALL for like 3 months (don't ask me why i never looked him up, it just never happened) and to hear that people care about his looks so much disgusts me when he is such an amazing artist! as he said it feels degrading when people do that. of course he's handsome af but it's not about his looks but about his talent that often gets overlooked. the music shows his trueself not his instagram. i'm so excited for his new album and get another very personal piece of his life. that's worth more than diamonds to me that he shares that with us. i wish that i can meet him one day and tell him how much i love his music and how it helped me getting through difficult phases in life. STAN TALENT AND SUPPORT HIS UPCOMING NEW ALBUM BECAUSE HE DESERVES THE WORLD¨!

It's like an insecurity though. You don't want to look pretty or handsome or you don't think you are good looking at all but end up posting images of yourself to make you feel better. Getting tons of likes or compliments "boosts" your spirit. It's a never ending cycle. There are days you feel great and like what you see in the mirror, but once you open Instagram (or any other social media platform with images) you see someone who looks better with way more likes and comments and you feel depressed again. The only way to make you feel better? The quick fix? Check those selfies of yours wherein you look great.
So it's fine if Dean won't delete those. It's a way to express himself too. :)

Dean is such a deep person on so many levels
Wow this is the first interview I’ve watched with him. I’ve listened to his music for years but that was as far as I got to know him. But now, knowing his perspective on music and his creative process and the reason why he’s a musician just increased my admiration 10-fold. He’s incredibly humbled and down to earth about it. It’s like he’s taken a medium that he loved and he’s making the art he wants to hear and connect to. He just happens to do really well at it, loves to share the emotions he feels, and is - not to sound shallow - handsome too.
Every time I learn more about an artist, it explains their musical tone and story so much. I’m glad I stan a musical genius who’s just living his life for his happiness. And I’m glad he shares it with us, with no further expectations from us or the world either. I’m glad he writes fully from him and not influenced by outside standards or pressures. It makes it feel more, pure.
