I got to where I could carefully move the truck around the truck stop but before I could build my confidence up to get on the highway and get the drivers license to drive a truck my husband decided to quit over the road and find a local short haul truck driving job. I think if he had kept over the road driveing I would. Have eventually have gotten a license to drive a truck . I was the youngest child in my family. when I got married, my mom went to school and learned to drive truck to join my dad. Dad had been a truck driver his whole life practically.
they ran team East Coast/ West Coast once a week.
they owned their own rig and everything.
Dad's health crashed which ended that dream for him.
but for 5 years mom and Dad were truck drivers.
they did take their pupper with them.
They had some hair-raising stories they told me.
like the time mom was going down a mountain in California and it was complete white out conditions. She called dad out of the bunk, he hung his head out the window and guided her down by the telephone poles on the side of the road.
that's the only way they made it down that mountain
my mom had balls of steel and bless dad's heart for his patience with her. 😆🥰
RIP Momma & Daddy, ( CB handles: Sassafras and RoundMan) thinking of you.

As a driver, but only 6 years of experience, I truly envy drivers that can sleep or stay asleep in their vehicle while another person is driving it. Every time I try to sleep during my co-driver's turn while on a long road trip. I find myself constantly waking up gasping for air thinking that I must've fallen asleep while I'm driving even though it is my co-driver on the wheel. Since learning how to drive, I seem to have developed this kind of habit and I have never been able to stay asleep for long in a moving vehicle. It's like I'm hard programmed to keep myself awake while driving, or even if I'm not the one who's driving as long as the vehicle is on the road. It's a bummer cuz it's been like this for every other roadtrips that I've had.

With two drivers, the truck doesn’t stop as long as the second driver spends a certain amount of time in the sleeper.
