    This is the kind of video that explains why a lot of independent mechanics don't want to give an exact price on a job, sometimes there are unexpected turns of events that just can't be predicted! Great job on keeping another E46 on the road.

      Absolutely! Theres is always unforseen challenges and secondary issues in the automotive world. Its hard to call a customer back explaining you need more Labor time, most people assume the worst and think youre taking advantage of them

    The educational value of this video is fantastic, especially for those new to wrenching etc. I went through a similar issue on my e39 and the oil filter housing gasket top right bolt (dealer over torqued it). I love m52/m54 engines but the cooling system plastic is irritating. You did a great thing saving this one. Look forward to the next!

    This is a good representation of why it’s recommended to replace the cooling system as just that - a system. Piece mealing it just leads to the next weakest link failing.
    This series has been great as it shows how DIY-able these cars are. They aren’t overly complex and few repairs need special tools and can be done in your driveway.
    Had to shave the disa flap too. Contrary to internet folk-lore - there is no way for the disa pin to fall into the intake when in place.
    Measure the length of the disa and then the depth of the intake. There’s even a recess in the molding of the intake that the pin sits in. If someone had one fall into the intake it was upon removal or installation.
    The worst thing about old BMW’s are their previous owners.

    • @DayOffDIY
      @DayOffDIY  Před rokem +1

      I agree 100%. We would recommend hoses if they were ever going to get removed, and we would also recommend them based off the color of the plastic or age.
      I would love to be able to replace EVERYTHING but the budget is a little tight for it. Maybe if it was for my daily driver and I wasnt worried about losing money while flipping it.

    Standing ovation for DIY! Great job young man! You have went above and beyond on this 330 & it shows. The 330 is practically like a new car and who ever buys her is 1 blessed soul. I have thought about this, that car here in NC would have sold for at least 2k when you 1st brought it in. I just don't know how you could get the true $ amount of what the car is actually worth in today's market I'm thinking $7500 would be the price, correct me if I'm wrong. The car has everything going for it cosmetically and mechanically. You have sport seats, steering wheel and wheels with tires. The paint is great the interior is great, I mean what's not to love about the car. This is just me but hears what I'm thinking will go down, you take 5500 and a trade in for you to break even. I've thought about it and I just don't think you will find anymore $500 deals. Anyway I am really excited about another DIY where things are done right!

    I am from eastern europe, balcans,Serbia,and still blows my mind that this car and other one are bought for 500usd,each, lmao... Here for that money you will probably got those rims because they look mint, haha....
    In USA you can really drive what ever you want, if you know how to look, for not so much money

      I agree, there is a lot of automotive choices around here. I may not ever find another $500 E46 again, but I have seen some other cars out there for 1k - 1.5k!
      Thanks for watching ! :)

      In Germany too, these original M68 rims keep good value if they are in a good shape. I can imagine there's not much supply, because why would you take them off and sell them?
