Simple beer batter
1 cup flour
1 12oz beer (either Shiner Bock or Amber Bock)
Seasoning of your choice to taste!
Also only thing long johns has going is the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich!

Long John's is for people who have never had fresh fish. Fresh makes a huge difference. I'm sure stuff is added to the meat for it to "keep" longer too.

Y'all need to try the ol bank snagging for paddlefish. I do it every year and limit out almost every trip. It's a lot of work sometimes but they'll knock you off your feet when u hook one.

This may sound weird but the best beer batter I've had was done with keystone light. The guy and his uncle swore by it. I tried there catfish and crappie. Have to say was pretty good.
The apparently made several batches over a summer trying different beers. And that was the winner, behind shiner light.

I always do a beer batter with pancake.mix or bisquick, with seasoned salt and garlic powder added to it.
I like Long John Silvers, it just depends on how cheap the Franchise owner is,on whether or not the food is good. I would rather try a buffalo in that batter though. Fresh fish is always the best
