@@aqumuffins On point with the pronunciations, thanks much!
Could you do an Inca or Aztec guide?
Hey friend, it sounds like your mic is peaking in this video - and gets a bit of static when it does. You might want to look into it :)
Could you do a video on the top 10 best nations for beginners?
Make sure to exploit the estates before you go pirate. It doesn't matter if they hate you since becoming a pirate republic makes the estates go away.
I always assign the 2nd province to nobles and get them to 100% for plenty of mil power and manpower. Great to help with early expansion
@Oscar Wind you dont
@Oscar Wind sell them all of your land, get about 500 free ducats and convert to piracy?
I think that should work
Raiding distance is three sea tiles from a home port.
Perfect - this was the information I was looking for. Thank you!
Small question does that mean if i'm morocco and place my ships in tunis, does that mean i can't raid in galicia anymore ?
Or if i place my ships in ifni then decide to go raiding, can i raid sicily ?
@@mikado6407 It's not about where you place your ships, it's about if you own a port. You can raid within three seatiles from a port that you own. So if you own both Ifni and Tunis you can raid both Galicia and Sicily.
me: "yess only malayan peninsula left"
portugal: "allow me introduce myself"
@Karl Quetzacoatl but whats puzzling you is the nature of my game
the key is to colonialize asap so that they wont come to asia. done it with majapahit lmaoo
@@glicko1952 especially to colonize small islands in Indian Ocean to lock westerners away from Asia, giving you time to colonize the rest of Indonesian island before they have necessary colony range to get to you
Or Ming...
"Let me introduce you to our lord and savior JC."
Colonising Australia and moving capitol early will make Malaya even richer thanks to trade companies and additional merchants. I did Malaya from Madyas via Australia and never had have more gold and more insane navy before.
How do you move your capital to Australia? I've tried looking for it, but I can't make it happen.
The capital can only be moved from a non-colonial region to a colonial region if the current capital is the last state province on that continent, while also isolated from the other territorial cores on that continent.
Does this prevent you from taking the achievement with Madyas? ( The Aztec one i dont remember its name )
Love playing Brunei. You get absurdly rich absurdly fast just colonizing the spice islands.
They removed the colonist from the ideas of countries like Brunei!?!?
Sad now.
As a Malaysian, I approve of this video. It’s pretty hilarious watching lil’ ol’ Malaya starting plots to break up the Ming dynasty and raiding the coast of Japan. I don’t even play the game but I can appreciate the 4x genre sensibilities.
Pagaarorong
Hello from Singapore btw
Hey dude, you spelled Majapahit perfectly, awesome...
Although, i think he did say the last syllable a bit to long. Overall it's correct.
It sounds weird but...eh gud enuff
But not pagaruyung

Been waiting for this since you teased it. Can't wait to try this guide out tonight.
thanks for introducing to me to this nation, very fun to play! Currently a few years before 1700 and I'm raiding and taking parts of Europe as a giant Malayan Pirate Empire! Great video
The raiding distance is actually only 3 sea tiles from any of your owned land provinces, regardless of colonial or trade range
A strat for taking the Java islands super early: fabricate claim on Sunda > declare war as soon as possible. Usually they have no allies and Majapahit will hate them. Once at war take all they provinces as soon as possible because Majapahit will declare war soon as well. Once Sunda is at war with Majapahit, take most of Sunda's provinces besides one and vassalize them. Now you are at war with Majapahit and can call in your allies to help. Boom Java islands.
I recommend taking a missionary and turning maintenance off and accept Hindu zealots demands to convert, because you will have rebels up the ass.
I REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU TOOK EXPANSION INSTEAD OF EXPLORATION S2
Wow....you've just covered my two favorite things...Alzabo, AlzaboHD, money, and Alzabo.
Yeah Pirate Republic Hoist the Black Flag
Purple flag
Remember, if you choose to form malaya as hindu nation, prevent a muslim nation to activate propagate religion in your home node AT ALL COST. I have one game as Kutai where Brunei attack me early and that makes Malacca has enough trade power to activate propagate religion in my home node and I have to deal with one province of mine get converted to sikh every several years. It's pretty nasty you know
Great video, but the way you pronounce "archipelago" is bizarre
Palembang was even worse
He did it well...
pagar-
pagrrwr-
Pagrararng
thats how its pronounced I believe!
In fact it is pronounced as "arch - eh - pee - lagooh"
Great Video, really nice structure. For a moment I thought I was watching Remans Paradox ;)
Madyas is FUN to play. Great practice for managing a navy/trade.
Defo my fav place to start and dominate in EU4, tho I prefer Borneo. Takes a bit more time, but the result is game breaking.
What makes Borneo so good?
@@angryman132 A couple of things , yet the early game opening is somewhat the same. You start with the best Sultan in the region, that helps if you push for early renaissance.
You are extremely protected from all sides.
Kuntai is an easy year one take, tho most of the time I just take Kuntai's capital and integrate the rest. Vassals have standing armies that do all sorts of mischiefs and sometimes win wars. Also Vassal fleets are a turning point early game.
And whoever controls the sea, controls the spice.
You can start working on the Philippines as you have sea tile access to them, this will help to implode China early in the game.
Burnei's power structure is the Mandala System, which basically provides 100% bonus to the vassal force limit contribution.
The opening tech should be Influence and then you can Expansion and Exploration, as I personally don't like to go in debt.
I would Ally - Siak, and leave Malacca, Pasai and the rest to develop provinces, altho Palembang tends to raid all the coasts , so they are a better ally. This will force Pasai and Malacca into an alliance and no one will spin out of control. Also, I focus on who allies who, for distant nations I can't Fabricate on.
I almost never get any Rebel Factions, but this opening might take a bit more time. And again, I can not stress this enough, Who ever controls the sea, controls the spice. Watchout for early wars against 3 or 4 nations alliances, as they can combine their flees, and even 1 province nations can contribute substantial fleets. Malacca and Indonesia provide a perfect place to learn the game, how sea battles and army transport works.
Also Natives tend to be extremely aggressive, so I would consider not transporting less than 5-6 regiments to uncolonised tiles, early game. By the early 1500 you should be showing on the Great powers world ledger.
Only issue I have is, as of Golden Century, the technological spread and how easy you can lag behind outside europe.
p.s. Don't forget to select the Propagate Religion Trading policy once you reach 50% trade power in any trade node. This might spawn a Religions Center to do all the work for you. Next stop - Bengal.
Fenixz Filip beast mode, brother
nice guide. a guide for ulm (CAPVT MVNDI) would be nice aswell
Thank you for this dude I kept trying to form Malaya as a Pirate Republic Madyas, and though it isn't the hardest thing in the world... it's a lot of rng and tedious waiting. This strat seems way better and you can always force Hindu rebels to spawn in order to get those cool Hindu republic bonuses
I played as Majapahit and formed Malaya, this is my campaign so far (I started this campaign a few month ago so I might miss some things):
1. I conquered Sunda
2. Allied Butan (I called them Button) and conquered & vassalized Makassar (which had annexed the nation above it.) I later annexed Makassar and vassalized then annexed Butan
3. Got Expansion Ideas (mistake on my part, I probably should have gone exploration as I cannot see Papua or Australia) and began to colonize the spice islands and conquer Tidore and the other nation
*It is crucial to colonize as much as you can before the Europeans arrive to avoid costly wars against them
4. Took over all of Borneo (had to colonize to fabricate claims on Brunei) and along the way I vassalized some of their Filipino allies (including Maguindanao and the nation next to him. Tondo had taken over Madyas). Allied Vijiyanagar who had taken all of southern India.
5. I finally switched my attention to Sumatra. I was allied to Pasai which had taken much of northern Sumatra. I then conquered Palembang and began to plan against Malacca who had Central Sumatra and the Malay penninsula and was my main rival.
6. Took down Malacca and snagged its territory in Sumatra, leaving them on the Malay penninsula. Next I broke my alliance with Pasai as they were already angry with me because I took over the territory they wanted. Invaded Pasai, vassalized them, eventually annexed them (they were at -100 and kept going down because I had pirated them, so I had to stop pirating the malacca trade node for about 2 years)
7. Finally formed Malaya, conquered the Malay Penninsula easily, diplomatically vassalized Cebu, and began to set my sights on the Philippines and Siam.
8. I annexed the nation next to Maguindanao and gave their province to Maguindanao. Then I colonized next to Tondo and declared war. I full annexed them and gave all the provinces to Maguindanao, so now I had a huge vassal (not a march) and I would keep colonizing the Philippines and giving them land
9. Ming was still alive by this point (Manchu was delayed by Korea who had expanded a lot and then collapsed. Now manchu existed as a one province nation. Japan was split between Chiba(u?) And Amago which weren't really doing anything. Overall there where no major enemies to Ming except Ayathutta who was my rival.) Spain and Portugal also arrived and hated me because I had a gold mine. they only had 2 islands east of Sumatra since I had colonized everything in indonesia. I had 2 institutions and was behind on tech but they didnt bother because for some reason they had puny navies compared to mine as well as a smaller army so I knew they wouldn't attack unless I did. I allied Champa (who had been release few years ago) and declared war on Kedah (without champa) and full annexed
10. Declared war on Ayathutta and took some of their provinces to get me a border with Khmer. I vassalized champa diplomatically and then declared war on khmer and fed my second vassal. I now have my sights set on taking over Madagascar and using Vijiyanagar as a place to set my troops before sending them off to Africa. (So If I send a 23k stack it doesnt get destroyed by the Madagascar nation)
How much did you end up making a month by end of game?
I stopped around 1530 to start recording a new video™ that is definitely™ coming soon™. You can definitely get rich by conquering upstream or by moving your capital downstream, though!
@@AlzaboHD How much were you making by 1530?
About tree fiddy
Welp, I know which nation Im going to play next
Oh yeah, just remembered something. If you're playing a Sunni nation, like Palembang, try to invite scholars from Kedah. You'll get -10% development costs. Then upgrade trade port for another reduction. That'll help you a lot with pushing Rennessaince.
And others institution
Colonialism, printing press and enlightment are nearly impossible to be born in asia
@@TheAjie91 Colonialism is actually really easy to spawn in asia if you focus on colonizing early. From The Spice Islands the easiest way is to go north with your colonies until you have a colony in kamtschatka or kurile islands. From there you should be able to explore alaska which counts as new world. Dont make big bunches of colonies early, snake your way north and remember you only need to explore the new world, not have a colony there. If you have this done only colonize provinces with 12 dev or costal centers of trade to maximize your chance of spawning it.
in my game with netherlands malaysia was 8 world power is incredible with how absurd it can be the ai sometimes.saludos desde España.
my favorite playthrough style is hindu pirate republic of madyas. their ideas really make a fun naval focused game
Thanks! :D
What Pirate gov. reforms do you recommend?
I’m a simple man. I see an Alzabo video and I watch it.
instructions unclear: lost to Byzantium
wait a minute
Personally i like like playing as burnio till like the 1600 spawn instiutions and from a pirate republic in early game where ypu fight majaphit and kutai in the means to get a show of power war goal, the main difference in the brunei playthrough and the palembang playthrough is that you have a collonial focus on the game and gather time to gather troops to beat down the sumetran and the SEA mainland forces, also you have control over when you want the rest of asia to have the institutions you spawn on your own, creating a power vacume between you and mainland asia
yes
I love these videos
malaya means "freedom" in Tagalog
Insane SP guide
Damn I'm literally in my campaign playing as Malaya and unleashing destruction upon Asia and Africa
Thank you sir..
Do you use any map mods? Thanks for the video!
They should change Japan's Wokou Pirates event tree to spawn a pirates Republic in Taiwan or somewhere in Japan, assuming the right steps are taken. Then you could choose to break-off and play as them.
I know its 6 months later but they added So which can go pirate republic
*The Dutch* want to know your location
can you please do a updated version of this guide to new players like myself?
Currently playing as Tondo into Malaya and it is challenging but fun. Luzon's national ideas (which Tondo shares with Pangasinan and Maynila) are not bad IMO, but I chose to switch to Malayan ideas, and it turned out that the +1 naval combat bonus near owned coast was essential for wrecking the navies of Spain and France. Speaking of those two...the downside to being Malaya is that Spain and France want all my provinces and hated me the entire game. It was one war declaration from them after another, I had to keep defeating them in one war after another, and I couldn't find strong allies (eventually allied Ashikaga and a stronk Kilwa, which should help). Also trying to ally Great Britain, but they also want a piece of Nusantara's spices (albeit not as much as the Spaniards and French do). I might be able to ally the Timurids or the Shun Dynasty, but they don't seem to be friendly enough to reach ally level. As if having Spain and France declaring war on me every ten years wasn't enough, India was unified by mega Deccan and Delhi (allied to each other) and they hate me too.
Ty
Thank you father
I have seen Malaya only once as i was playing as Spain. They were formed by Pagarryung and had converted every province to Buddhist. So this buddhist Malaya was actually strong and was allied to Ming. Also had a lot of wealth. They were a hard nut to crack.
"Palembang can become a pirate republic..." Hold up, let me stop you right there, Mr. DLC have-er. This popped up on my youtube recommended's.
I formed Malaya as an afterthought at the end of my Phillipine Tiger (Cebu) run.
Did not know EU4 had Malaya in the game. Might get it next time it goes on sale
You should make more eu4 guide videos
To be clear on how to actually make the money, do you set your trade capital up stream to collect the gold, and divert your trade to it? Also, do you develop with diplo points to increase production to increase the trade value?
Heres a good guide czcams.com/video/yNnvsaxUTUg/video.html
What is the name of the graphics mod at the end of the video?
Three of my attempts to do it like this ended badly because I am left behind in technology after the first expansion phase and even tho I am the strongest nation in the region I get destroyed by smaller nations. I declare war confidently and then everything goes to hell. I guess spawning Renaissance could help but I am in severe lack of monarch points since my republican tradition grows slowly. Vassals could help I guess since admin points are most rare to me, and manpower. Still, some advice would be nice.
STONKS
1:01 PAGARUYUNG that's how you spell it
fun fact i took a dna test and i was a descended of one of the last kings of pagaruyung
The Indonesia region is super fun to play.
So i tried this. My first conquest was hampered heavily, because my army got attacked by natives in Borneo when i try to attack Kediri there. And, just to make things more perfect, a rebellion happened in Sunda which took the conquest longer and costlier. Yay
I love forming Malaya as Champa. Super fun.
Pagaruyung is pronounced as Paagaarooyoong. Hope it helps
Can you make short guide "the most impregnable fortresses in eu4?"
Fucking Switzerland
I love blockading mechanics. Once I destroyed entire Ming Navy and blockaded 80k army in Java. Placed myself in Sumatra, Used boats as gates and allowed 20k to pass through each time and destroyed their 80k army with just about 35k of my own army. It's really overpowered. Osel in Europe is also useful the same way.

What about the rebels? I had to deal with 14k rebels very early.

So when are you gonna do the Phonecia Guide.

As an Indonesian your pronounciation of Indonesian provinces is great and just a little bit off in any case great job on the whole guide thing and keep up the great work (despite the fact that i never play eu4 lol)
Just formed Malaya as Pasai. I’m not very experienced in the game but I am proud that I made it. My biggest problem right now is that I look too weak. I don’t have enough allies to stop a defensive war against the green country above malacca.
Ayyuthhya?
Love the video but I tried a playthrough yesterday and just kept getting screwed by alliances and rebellions.
Seeing AlzaboHD not playing Malacca (my country to form Malaya) : my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
You can also colonize the cape if its not been taken by european colonizers yet. Once you can exert enough trade power over the nodes in India it is crazy money.
Top 10 Colonial Nations pls
There is misinformation on 3:28 because it has been known since the Berber traditions in god knows what update that raiding distance is calculated based on a distance of 3 sea tiles from a home port. Not by colonial distance.
Any tips for taking Malacca if they don't attack first? I'm afraid of Ming because I'm just a little guy.
If they have allies, attack them and call Malacca in as a cobeligerent, otherwise I guess hope for a mingsplosion which are more common now in 1.29
In the word "siak". The letter "a" is pronounce the same way as in the word "are".
Why Palembang could become pirate Republic because in history, the predecessor of Palembang which is srivijaya exploit pirate to rule the melacca strait, even china need to pay tribute if their ship want to pass the strait or else fleet of pirates will ransack those ships, its actual historically accurate, good job to paradox
Im just playing Kedah... state of Malaysia that was a country once 🥱
Anyone know if you can get the pirate republic event without Golden Century? One more dlc might brake my computer completely....
How should I deal with Ming if I need to attack Malacca?
Do you want to keep the Sumatran ideas or switch to Malayan ideas?
Speaking of coalitions. I used one to dismantle the HRE as France in 1505 ish
you can do it as poland in the first 10 years
i crushed the french revolution using my tupi empire with a giant coalition and destroyed the otomans with a coalition that favored the persians
I would like to see a Manchu to Qing guide
That one is easy, if you're already Manchu just become or stay a tributary of Ming while you expand, take any provinces from your neighbors that you can. Korea is a good expansion opportunity. Develop or expand until you are +300 development and then cancel tributary to Ming, they will explode shortly after and you can invade while they are being destroyed by rebels and take Beijing.
Ah, I formed Qing only to be destroyed by Russia...
What is the best way to deal with Malaca if they are still a tributary of Ming?
Attack their allies and pick them off slowly. Or ally them and attack one of Ming's tributaries and get them to fight Ming. Ming won't be able to make them a tribute again because they don't border. Or just grow a pair and take on Ming.
Realistically you can carpet siege of them down and get plenty of war score by the time Ming gets their. Or when Ming brings his troops over to Malacca block the strait, ferry your troops to Beijing carpet siege him quickly.
Do we need mare nostrum ?
How to replay the invasion? Thank you
Love the fact he pronounces the names of every nation correctly
As somebody who live in siak. He pronounce the letter "a" wrong.
@@chandy3859 oh wait you are right, I just noticed.
Pagarru, Pagarurrang, and Pagarruyang just ain't right lol
it's puh-garh-roo-yoong
3:30 it sucks that the distance is limited to 3 tiles no matter what.
How do you fabricate claims on provinces that don't border you? I can't fabricate on Pakuan; just Banten, Kalapa, and Cirebon.
I've played Majapahit, Pasai and Brunei on the game and literally conquering the Malaya region three times but I never intended to form Malaya just bcs I don't like the flag 😂
True, but I like the purple, though
I do the same thing, I can be able to form a nation, but dont because I don't like the flag😂
How do you deal with Malacca being a tributary of Ming?
Attack their allies and call them in as co-belligerent.
Or you can declare war on them directly by Blitz siege their capital, which is an island, then blockade ming in the peninsula and wait warscore and war exhaustion to go up
Yannik oh, then pasai must have taken melaka at some point in my last playthrough. My bad.
If you want to ignore Ming go for their allies. If you want to kill Ming: Colonize Taiwan, Ally Naval Powers, Build a lot of heavies. Ming will attack you with Unite China CB and move most of his army to Taiwan. Kill his Navy with your friends and trap his army in Taiwan, then go and destroy Ming.
Indonesian names are spelled like Spanish with a few exceptions like c is spelled like english "ch"
