What a lovely person to welcome you like that and show you around. If you do end up back around that area you should bring them some chocolates or some flowers or something to say thankyou in my opinion lads. I'm sure it would really make their year, they seemed lonely. Not sure if they were a lady or a gentleman honestly but basically everyone loves chocolate and I think it would make a nice video if you ever start revisiting places. I get the feeling that person would really love you to stay for a cup of tea and a chat for half an hour or so, it seemed like you really brightened their day. Well this is a blast from the past! I spent Christmas at that camp, probably about 10 years ago now. It doesn't look much different to how I remember it, but there were more people back then.
My sister took me there when I was about 12, I remember seeing those burners and thinking Jeeez Louise, they’re awfy cool.

As an off-grid hippie in America I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making those propane tank wood stoves!!! gosh I wish I knew how to do that!

Was making stuff like that fifty years ago,was running around that area in £1500 Ex Army Jeeps(1952 pound value, £50,000 in today's money google lt) we bought for £200 also. The Navy base has been there since World War 11. It was Military Port No l in case London and Liverpool and Glasgow got bombed out of existance.
Faslane was one of two ports America could land supplies and men the other was Stranraer,both ports had rail links built into them.
Faslane had a shipbreakers after the war.Many liners and Britains last Battleship were broken up there as well as many other warships
I have known that area since the eariy sixties, the local council and the peace protestors have certainly combined to make a B - - - - - MESS ! The Shipbeakers was bad enough before but ? At least The Navy are TIDY.
That's the Faslane Peace Camp.I stopped off there on my motorbike for directions one time, and they were all lovely and welcoming. I had a cup of tea around a campfire while the kids ran around and played.No complaints from me about them.

It’s an anarchist camp I debated heading to when I was in the UK, but my plans went sideways before I made the decision and ended up having to leave the country because I got so screwed over by people, and even had my computer stolen.
That was unexpected !! What a cool find 👌 pitty about the weather ..I loved the architecture on that MOD building. The protesters seemed friendly enough - nice video 👍👍

This is on the edge of the town I live in. Sad to see the old mansion house in ruins. Interesting to get a glimpse in the peace camp. Its been quiet since Covid and Ukraine.

I've been past this place a few times so it was good to see it closer. Did anyone notice the big flash of lightning at 8:27? I'm presuming this was filmed in August as we had a big thunderstorm that month.

Oh the trident protests of the 80s! I worked at the Vulcan naval test establishment next to Dounreay and it always had CND or greenpeace protesters outside... interesting place that's for sure and the first time I went in the 90s it was like walking onto a James bond film set! It's getting demolished now I think....
These little peace camps are still dotted about and yeah the building skills on the buses and treehouses are great many have yerts and bendas (housing structures not benders liek Al ❤) too and my mam and some of her mates stayed on this one for a bit! Definitely a good find boys

1 Its not the North of Scotland its almost the Central Belt. 2 You won't be so High Cock O Lorum if you meet the Royal Marines or Dutch Marines who are guarding the base. The MOD Police are a friendly lot too offering once to shoot me.
The officer explained that murder was within their remit in certain instances.
It has not been unknown for Glasgow Policemen on fishing trips on the loch to be kidnapped and disappear into the base for several hours,a cop once told me that. Try repairing a puncture near the wire,I was observed for the duration of said repair by two vanloads of armed constables. These guys are serious keep away ,and I used to be in the base often as a kid.

Many locals who have lived with it for forty years disagree.
I did a years voluntary work for the Scottish Wildlife Trust up in Inverness once and there were so many whacky characters living out in the wilderness off grid it was crazy.I would say though that if you try and imagine what they do all day long and come to the general conclusion that they might just possibly get stoned and drink alot while playin' some tunes you wouldn't be completely wrong,but why not eh.They seemed like a nice person,although no need to hide the norks,were all gender-fluid-friendly these days man,shame the castle was toast.Great video! ☢🏳🌈🏴☠☮

The camp was always a kl part of our trips great memories and people .
Even if they moved it to England( which they won't for strategic reasons, and NATO) you would still get zapped in event of conflict or accident. The Base, has been there since the Second World War when it was Military Port No 1. One ot Britains lifelines to America in event of London,Liverpool or Glasgow being bombed flat.It was originally built as a conventinal base hosting submarines becoming nuclear in the late sixties. If you can get the Russians and The Chinese Navies to abandon nuclear power you might then have a chance with N A T O. However,as they say 'Good Luck With That.'
