    Great tips! It took me a long time to get used to not detangling my hair daily. I think that was the hardest part of my curly hair journey.

    I detangle while conditioning and it works great. I don’t have many knots bc my hair is shoulder length

    Thanks Gena. I usually dry detangle using oil. I like the OGX Coconut Oil and Argan Oil. If I do wet detangle pre-shampoo I will use a less expensive conditioner.

    I've just been detangling when conditioning, but I really feel the issue of not being able to get down to my scalp this way. So I think I will have to try the dry-oil method for my next wash day and see how it goes!

    the oil pre shampoo detangle is the least stressful for me. i can get overwhelmed by the length of time to "do the whole routine". detangling with oil the night before wash day makes it SEEM faster.

    So just to make sure I have this right, if you want to detangle before styling, after you rinse out your conditioner, apply a detangler, then wrap your hair in a cloth towel, and finally add a leave-in conditioner if needed. Then you can proceed to style your hair as normal.
    Thank you.

    I tried the dry detangle with oil before I washed and I definitely got a better clean but I swear I had more hair pulled out then wet detangling. I do get ALOT of tangles so I’m going to try wet detangling with conditioner before I wash next! I still have to use a brush tho my hair is too long, fine, and tangled to just use my fingers. Thanks Gena great video!! ❤

      @@alexishastings6768 try different ways multiple times to really get a read on the shedding! The amount of hair will vary based on how long it’s been since your last wash and if you removed any of the hairs during refreshing or not and lots of other factors!

      @alexishastings6768 Před 17 dny

      @@GenaMarie I never even thought of that! Now that you mention it I did stretch it to 6 days before washing and did very minimal refreshing so that would make sense lol! I’ll have to try it out some more, thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my comment! 😁

      @@GenaMarieAnother factor is that the gels you recommend for hard hold prevent some of my shedding hair from falling out so I've noticed much more shed hair coming out when I wash or detangle my hair if I use a really effective gel.
      It doesn't increase the amount of hair fall of course, it just makes more of the shed strand all come out at once when I wash out the gel.

    Hi Gena. Some conditioners recommend using a wide tooth comb to comb through the conditioner. Is it okay to use a wide tooth comb instead of a brush combing from the ends up?

    • @GenaMarie

      yes, you can as long as you're gentle

  • @simplycurlyde

    I do the dry detangle. I'm using an argan oil, but I think I will try one with coconut oil in it. Do you think that will help soften grey hairs, make them retain moisture? Also, I started using a scalp oil before shampooing. I usually shampoo my hair after it's been in for ab 30 minutes. Or is it best to apply the scalp oil after shampooing?

    I love the Trelux products. As far as detangling in the shower, would find a wide toothed comb to be okay? (I do like to start from the ends and work my way upward...done this for years). I get a trim very regularly...and usually at least one inch! My hair grows fast so I need that much of a trim. Trims make all the difference in the world to me.

      A wide-tooth comb is fine too because it doesnt have tension, as long as your'e careful and not rushing/snapping
