Demons and Wizards is the fourth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep.
The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, the front of which was designed by Roger Dean and contains a hidden erotic image of male and female genitalia. The inner of the gatefold had pictures of the band and notes by Ken Hensley, whilst the LP itself was housed in a liner on which were printed the lyrics.
The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. "Easy Livin'" entered the US Top 40 at #39, making it Heep's first American hit. "Easy Livin'" was also a mega hit in New Zealand and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band. It reached a disappointing #75 in Australia.
Demons and Wizards was certified Gold in the US on 27 October 1972. RIAA certification The album also served as partial inspiration for Hansi Kürsch and Jon Schaffer's side-project Demons and Wizards

I’m 68, saw them February 18, 1972, was hooked and as I’m writing this, I’m listening to it. Demons and Wisards is my all time favorite, followed by Look at yourself, Magician’s Birthday, Gypsy, even have a David Byron solo LP, the perfect voice for this band

I couldn't have said that insight any better than you did. Pure, simple and true. The mix has always moved me since I was 14, all those many years ago. I grew up in Chicago, and saw Uriah Heep once. The band was very popular there.

Sounds as fresh and innovative now as it did in 1972 which shows us Heep`s music is timeless.
Yes, my favorite Uriah composition. Two songs merging to traverse a complex, multi-dimensional and hauntingly beautiful emotional soundscape. Ken's piano leading in and out of that transporting slide solo which builds and builds and miraculously captures a sense of infinite space moving around it or perhaps carrying us across it. All of which delivers us to the absolutely exquisite emote of David's voice "But when the night is over..." Chills every single time.

But yeah, l guess they could have faded Paradise out completely, then began The Spell as a separate track and we would never have considered them inseparable. But they connected them for a reason.

Personally I prefer as one song always played together in sequence Tales & The Magicians Birthday. I've never really got into Demons & Wizards like I did The Magicians Birthday & Very 'eavy Very 'umble. This takes till the 7th minute to take off now i've finally been able to listen to it all the way through. I must've kept taking it off before the guitar solo started lol
I've got to say I do like this a lot better now & it does have the magical guitar of Mick Box so prominent on Magicians Birthday the song but it still doesn't take me to the spaces The Magician did.

Back in 73 (about 13) got my first score with a girl about 16 . To this album. Stoned as hell, late night, enjoyed myself .

then you know they played it through on 2" tape and not Pro Tools cut and paste! Like we all did. Oh and mine was Peg in the woods in 73.
WTF, pro tools came out about 40 yr ears after this album. I am not sure if 2 in was in use by the. I believe 16 or 24 track boards were the standered at that time. Whom ever did the remastering may gave used apple/Adobe products, personally, i like remasters that are anolog based. They sound natural, not aniceptic.
Yep back 1972, 1973, 1974 U.H. was on top of their game!!! Lots of stoned nites and lots of psychedelics to!!!! Starting in 1967 with the acid rock bands!!! :) :)
2" tape was in full use by '72, and you're right about the tracks. Even though most rock/pop studios were 16 track in that decade, the first 24 track was installed at TTG studios in LA in '68. If the tape was much narrower, it wouldn't have been very clean between tracks (crosstalk). Music tech went in leaps and bounds between '66 and '71 in particular, it's evident between records over those few short years :)

Definitely! This is probably absolutely greatest one, respectively twins. Ken himself told at solo concert few moths ago that this is one of his few very personal tunes from Heep times. I am especially enjoying trading lead vocals between David and Ken in this masterpiece!

I don't know what Ken was smoking when he came up with this, but whatever it was he came up with maybe the most perfect moment of beauty the band ever had. At times it almost slips into Pink Floyd territory. You can keep Stairway to Heaven; this one never gets boring.

First album I ever bought. Never heard of the band, just liked the Roger Dean cover art. Got it home, played it . . . 40 years later, its still in my top ten albums of all time.

да могут нормально, в Араксе, Автографе и Ариэле были отличные музыканты, это пожалуй самые профессиональные советские рок-группы. Машина времени и Воскресенье еще. правда начинали они с каверов западной рок-музыки (как обычно)

Даже у названных Вами действительно более-менее приличных группах - Автограф, Машина и Воскресенье, дистанция до Uriah Heep непреодолимая, нет у них ни одной песни такого уровня.

Grew up with this... and it will always move me. I love the whole album, but this...this completely nails it every time ! Fantastic song, brilliant atmosphere and oh the 'simplicity' and charm of analog recordings. True musicianship here.
A friend and I saw them in Pittsburgh in 72 or 73. ZZ TOP opened for them. 30 yrs later my friend met Billy Gibbons and told him about the experience. Gibbons said before every show, Heep would gather and say " this is the one", I guess, meaning that they were always striving to put on the best show.
